Good price which will quickly drop when we go on a run starting on Sunday.

All things being equal a comfortable minimum second place finish would appear to be almost guaranteed given the usual contenders for that spot haven't just stood still I believe they have taken a step back while we have considerably strengthened. One of our greatest problems last season and which lost us a heap of points was a malfunctioning defence which appears to have been repaired and we even have some world class in there now in the shape of the great wall of Alves. The midfield which was another major let down has also been overhauled with Jack looking like a steal and Dorrans adding some real quality. The pace of Candeias will very likely also be a major thorn in the side for many and that's still not even mentioning a rejuvenated Kranjcar. The remaining big puzzle is how the strikers will fare but I expect them to begin to click soon enough and Morelos may even be a sensation once he finds his feet. And on top of that I expect regular goals coming from the midfield to add to the haul. Regarding making up a 30+ point gap I don't really see that as being as big an issue as it may sound. The bulk of those 30+ points were lost not to the unmentionables but to the rest who we should now be disposing of comfortably.

CATHRO OUT Ian Cathro leaves Hearts with immediate effect
JFK-1 replied to pete's topic in General Football Chat
Former Italy striker Fabrizio Ravanelli has applied to be Hearts' new head coach, but interim boss Jon Daly thinks he is ready for the job permanently. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/40815164 -
I recently watched a film called 'The Zookeepers Wife' which is a true story of a zookeeper and his wife hiding Jews in their zoo for the duration of the war at great personal risk. Poland was the only occupied country in which the Nazis imposed a law which meant execution for anyone caught hiding Jews and not only the individual but his entire family too. Poles per head of population saved more Jews by hiding them than any other nation. There are more Poles on Israels 'righteous among the nations' list than any other nationality. An estimated 50,000 poles were executed for hiding Jews which makes it all the sadder they're going down this Nazi path. This wiki link gives a good description of how hard Poles worked to save Jews during the occupation plus how many people had to be involved at great risk to do this. They're scared they might start losing a lot of blue money due to the mindless stupidity of their support.

There is actually some controversy over that display. Notice they stress that 'GERMANS KILLED 160,000 PEOPLE' rather than saying Nazis. This is due to the fact that a significant percentage of the followers of Legia Warsaw are neo Nazis and would have no interest in labeling the mass slaughter a Nazi atrocity.

I'm guessing since they laboured to beat Rosenborg they would need to get extremely lucky not to meet a sterner test next round but then they have been extremely lucky for quite sometime in more ways than one. I don't know why they're seeded but they are so they're going to dodge Liverpool etc. These are the potential opponents. Unseeded teams Azerbaijan: Qarabağ Kazakhstan: Astana Croatia: Rijeka Israel: Hapoel Be'er Sheva Czech Republic: Slavia Prague Romania: Steaua București Switzerland: Young Boys France: Nice Germany: 1899 Hoffenheim Turkey: İstanbul Başakşehir

Yep. Away goal. Would take a spectacular turnaround now.
-
Rosenberg just came damn close.

I'm thinking that if this were to go to extra time which currently looks a distinct possibility the Norwegians who are 17 games into their season will have a fitness edge.
-
Halftime in Norway and still Rosenberg 0 - Yahoos 0 Sviatchenko off on 25 minutes after pulling up following a collision with a Norwegian.

Griffiths was heard to say "your team's deid mate, beat it."
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
He needs to go ask his own board why they bizarrely charge such high prices to see them play this "deid' team. Oddly exactly what they have alway done when this "deid" team was alive. If this witless cretin hadn't made it as a footballer he would have been one of the vermin in the Lee Rigby brigade. It's pretty obvious that's his natural level. -
Personally I wouldn't want to give Motherwell a penny and would boycott even if it was a quid. All I want to give them is a good hammering. We need to have a good first day to get the disappointment of last years first day totally out of my system.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says his side can win the Premier League after a "bit of bad luck last season". Liverpool started the 2016-17 season strongly and were only six points behind leaders Chelsea in January. But they fell away with only one league win in January and February, and finished fourth, 17 points behind the champions. "We'll be playing for the championship. We don't start a season by not having any ambitions," said Klopp. "We have to have our goals and I think we have a very good team now. We did have a bit of bad luck last season. "I think we can play a little bit better. Let's hope everything will work very well and that there isn't much more to improve." Klopp said on Monday that playmaker Philippe Coutinho was not for sale, despite interest from Barcelona. His side face Bayern Munich in the Audi Cup on Tuesday as part of their pre-season preparations. They will be without forward Divock Origi, who has a muscle problem, and defender Joe Gomez, who has a knee injury. They begin their Premier League campaign on Saturday 12 August at Watford. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/40789431

Greatest supporters in the world? My Arse! The scum of the Earth!
JFK-1 replied to pete's topic in General Football Chat
Celtic has said the club is "appalled" by fans chanting in apparent celebration of the murder of soldier Lee Rigby. The fans were recorded during a Celtic friendly match at Sunderland on Saturday. Their abusive chant concerned the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers soldier, who was murdered by terrorists in May 2013. Lee Rigby's family said they were "hurt and traumatised" by the fans' behaviour captured on video. The club has promised to take firm action against anyone identified as being involved. The Celtic statement said: "Clearly everyone at Celtic is appalled by these events. Such behaviour in no way represents Celtic Football Club or our supporters. Actually I would argue that it does represent their support, we see it on their terraces all the time and they let it happen over and over. "We understand this incident is now subject to an ongoing police inquiry. "Let us be clear, in the event that any individuals are identified as being responsible, Celtic will take the strongest possible action." Lee's mother, Lyn, was quoted on the the Lee Rigby Foundation Facebook page saying she had been "shocked" by the fans in the video. She said: "As you can imagine we have been hurt, traumatised and deeply shocked to see the hate filled video directed at Lee by fans of Glasgow Celtic. "It has been heartbreaking for his sisters who still feel the pain of his loss every day. "Football fans the world over have supported our family and continue to do so." Two were found guilty of murdering Lee Rigby outside Woolwich barracks in south-east London. Michael Adebolajo, 29, and Michael Adebowale, 22, struck Fusilier Rigby with a car before hacking him to death. Adebolajo had claimed he was a "soldier of Allah" and the killing was an act of war. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-40804531 -

So presumably there was also something "really dodgy" about this too? And this? Must be dodgy because that can't be "the best fans in the world" glorifying terrorist murderers. Can it? -
I have developed such a distaste for this loutish crew that I would be almost tempted to rather see us hammer them than the yahoos if it came to a choice. Almost but not quite. Currently they think they're contenders who can come to Ibrox and show us what's what because they have signed Effie Effen Ambrose and apparently today Stokes. They really need to be brought down to earth with an almighty bang and I feel confident we have the team now to accomplish that.

He's developing a convenient habit of not seeing and now not hearing anything inconvenient. -
Whether this is true or not I couldn't say but on a Hibs forum they're saying they were allocated just over 1,000 tickets.

I'm embarrassed that these vermin will just be 'Scots' in many English minds. -

My Mexican friend also told me there are similarities between Spanish and Portugese which doesn't surprise me. Neighbouring countries both speaking a romance language whose common origin is Latin. There are 5 main romance languages which are Italian, Spanish, Portugese, French and the 5th he surprisingly couldn't name when we spoke of it while I could. The 5th is Romanian which when you consider Romania is geographically separated from the other 4 countries of origin which are close together is a shade surprising.

Celtic's Jolly Craicster Fans Fighting in Sunderland
JFK-1 replied to StuGers's topic in General Football Chat
There can be nothing like this vermin anywhere else in the field of sport globally. An entity glorifying enemies of their own country of origin? It's like a fifth column operating in open view while everyone who matters just looks away. -
Impressive indeed looking at the number of times they got in behind Bayern. And i'm guessing Liverpool must have been defensively solid as well as impressive in attack since not once in those highlights did I see Bayern get in behind them but rather were limited to long range shooting from outside the box.
