I think we should and will go at them like a whirlwind from the opening minutes and if a quick goal or two comes it will more than likely turn into another rout. My major worry is Morelos and his temper. Chances are some little known lower league player would love to get his name in the papers by riling him up. -
They're worried that because we demolished St Johnstone that SJ will now "have a point to prove" in their league cup tie. Love it. They're now fearing a 'backlash' from also rans we just beat 5-1 going on 10.

The secret backers revealed, Liverpool are bankrolling us. Mad Phil needs to start a crowd fund to compile a report for UEFA because this just has to be encompassed by FFP somehow. -

I wouldn't mind winning this cup just for Stevie and the team to capture some silverware but it is a bit of a paper cup these days. I really want anyone but the yahoos to win it ending their treble treble raving right from the start. -
Preview by 26th of foot in third post below! I suppose they may as well have a go since though it might get them a real hiding no one expects anything else anyway. Back in February this year we beat them 6-1 on their own ground and it's hard to see this going any other way but something similar to that. We have home advantage this time, we're playing well at home this time and have a far more formidable team this time. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/45616120

Aside from beating a misfiring Yahoo team I don't think Hearts have done anything overly impressive and I just don't see them maintaining this unbeaten run. I think we still have to view the yahoos as the main threat to a title run and hope for them to continue dropping points. The Livi game may give us an indication of where are in comparison to Hearts. If we overwhelm them on their own ground which Hearts recently failed to do at home I will feel we're far superior to Hearts. Hearts failed to score even at home. I feel we will indeed score away from home and probably more than once. We went to Spain and scored twice. We can probably easier do the same at Livi.

The yahoos are at home to the sheep on Saturday. Hopefully the sheep can take something from them but I wouldn’t bank on it.

As we all know it's largely dependent on how much is being wagered on a specific team but it's sometimes still interesting to see fluctuations. When this season was kicking off if I remember correctly the yahoos were around 1/12 or at least 1/10 at best. I can't remember what our odds were but I know they were nothing like as low they are now. The yahoos price has been drifting towards being almost bettable while rangers odds have shortened and everything outside those two aside from Hearts has lengthened despite the fact it might seem a more open league than we have become accustomed to. In the bookies eyes there appear to still be only two realistically possible winners. Average odds. yahoos 1/3 Rangers 3/1 hearts 20/1 sheep 50/1 hubz 65/1

WHAT would Bill Struth have made of a Rangers manager being bullied by his wife into going to a Shania Twain concert would make any mind boggle. At a guess, the great man wouldn’t have been impressed (much) by Steven Gerrard’s Friday night, but the greatest Ibrox icon of them all would be delighted with how his latest successor has approached the job of leading the club back to where it once was; or at least towards that goal. Really for the first time, Gerrard yesterday spoke about how his personal life has changed since moving to Glasgow and taking on the ever-so-easy task of managing Rangers. That it’s a 24/7 existence should come as no surprise. That he likes his new home is nice to hear even if you will do well to see one of the most famous faces in Britain wandering the city streets. Put it this way, he’s not going to be spotted singing karaoke upstairs at the Horseshoe Bar. When you are manager of Rangers, have a game every few days and also learning on the job, switching off and downtime are difficult. This is why on the flight home from Spain on Thursday night he spent it watching his team’s draw with Villarreal on a laptop. Gerrard said: “I’m not away from my family. They are down south but I see them a lot. They are up every single weekend and I get down the road at night, sometimes twice a week. Nothing has changed. I am probably seeing more of them now than I did as a player so I’m happy. “My family life is good. I have no complaints off the pitch. I have settled into Glasgow really well. It’s similar to Liverpool in many ways. I am very happy. There are no issues. “It’s difficult when there’s not much time between each game. In the international break I switched off for three or four days and it was enough to recharge and freshen up and get ready for the next block. “But if you’re on a three-hour flight, and I knew I wasn’t going to sleep, I wanted to so get it (watching the game) done, get it out of the way, and maybe I might be able to get a kip this afternoon. “I’m loving it. I’m absolutely loving it. I’m really lucky to be in this position, to manage this fantastic club. I’m enjoying it, it’s a rollercoaster, and it’s emotional. I wouldn’t change it for anything but it’s full on and it’s difficult to switch off. “Do I know the job now? No, I am still learning. I will be learning all the time. When you are a player you don’t really appreciate what coaches and managers put into it. You just automatically think the same as a player - that you come in at 9 o’clock then go home at 2 o’clock or something. Managers are 24/7. It doesn’t stop.” And at that moment his phone went off. For any Scottish team to return from Spain with a point is a great result and given where Rangers were last season, a 2-2 against Villarreal is superb. Gerrard admitted that he would have liked more points on the domestic front but that he is delighted with where his brand new team are, especially with how they have performed in Europe. Rangers are not perfect, the work will be in process for a good time yet, but when your players come back twice against a La Liga side then there is something there to build upon. Gerrard said: “I was kicking every ball. I kick more balls on the sideline now than I did when I played. That is the buzz, the adrenaline. That’s what I miss as a player, being involved. These players are so lucky to be out there, and to be able to contribute that way. "My job now is to produce a game-plan and sort of contribute in a different way and I am really enjoying that. Although it doesn’t replace the buzz of being a player. “It would be disrespectful just to put one word against this team. They have answered a lot of questions from the journey they’ve been on in Europe and they deserve a lot of praise and credit. “They have definitely got character, that’s something which springs out, especially after going a goal down and then 2-1 behind. A lot of teams would have packed it in or not fancied trying to get back into it so I’m very happy with the character and mentality of the group, but there are still things we need to pick out and learn from. “We won’t just forget about the result because it was positive, we will analyse and de-brief the game at the right time to try and improve.” Rangers have been uneven in the Premiership and tomorrow take on St Johnstone, traditionally a tough opponent at Ibrox. Gerrard admitted: "It will be very different. St Johnstone have a lot of energy in midfield. I think Villarreal are more technical, with individuals who try and pass through the lines no matter where they are on the pitch. ‘I think at times St Johnstone will go direct into Tony Watt, who is a fantastic target man. They get runners off him and have a lot of energy. They will cross a lot earlier than Villarreal. "The challenges from Thursday to Sunday are very different. What’s important is that we are in the right frame of mind for whatever challenge is thrown at us. "To be fair to the players, there are not many times when I can criticise them. They have had pockets when they have maybe come off the gas and switched off. There were 45 minutes against Celtic where we stayed in a shell and didn’t believe. There was a little bit of that in the first half against Villarreal. "But in the main, I think they players have been excellent.” Whether he will say the same thing about Ms Twain is debatable. https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/16895074.steven-gerrard-interview-on-his-love-of-rangers-life-in-glasgow-and-erm-being-bullied-into-watching-shania-twain/?ref=ar

We all know it's not uncommon and I just found a classic example. Feyenoord v FC Utrecht. Feast your eyes on this.

Have to beat Livi away next week which surprisingly might even be trickier than the following league match which will be Hearts at Ibrox. Livi are a surprise package and to some extent so are Hearts but I feel Hearts have had a relatively easy ride so far in some ways and maybe even carried a bit of luck. Yes they beat the yahoos (with one of our players netting the goal) but so have Kilmarnock and no one sees them as challengers. They're not a free scoring team and we are. They scored just 1 against Dunfermline in the last round of the league cup and none at home against Livi yesterday. Most of their league wins finish 1-0 in their favour and that wont cut it against a high scoring team like us. It might be the case that they flatter to deceive but we will find out in just 2 weeks when they come to Ibrox. Need to beat Livi and then Hearts to close that gap to the top. I feel we have the team and the options available to do it.

The yahoos even by their own admission are suspect defensively and currently not an attacking force either which is also admitted in a kiddydale st post I just quoted. So if they're defensively suspect and they're not an attacking force you have to wonder what they actually are. They're beginning to look like we did for the past couple of years. Good team on paper but inconsistent and fail to dominate against nominally inferior opposition. Long may that continue.
-
Th fear is rampant over on kiddydale st. Just a few examples of that. This first one was being sarcastic as the news began to come in that St Johnstone were being hammered. Another follows with this. To be followed with And

That's 16 competitive games managed by SG with just one defeat. It's an astounding turnaround especially when you take into account that 9 of those games were in Europe, 5 of those Euro games away and the last of them away in Spain to the top seed in our group. Plus many think this team still hasn't reached maximum potential and I agree with that. Right now we're missing Jack who forced himself into an automatic starter position and Barisic who is a very good player indeed and we still have Grezda among others to come into the picture. I really feel Grezda could be a game changer when he gets up to speed. Exciting times right now with potentially even more excitement to come all topped off with the yahoos in disarray.

So much for the early chatter of having to catch up with the sheep before catching up with the yahoos. Both now lie below us where they have the catching up to do. Again even at this early stage we're the highest scorers in the league with 15 goals from 6 games which is 3 ahead of the next highest hubz on 12. And 9 ahead of the yahoos on just 6. The sheep, at best, are in a battle with hubz and hearts for a 3rd place finish and I don't see them getting that. I can see the sheep finishing 5th at best or even 6th.
