He doesn't talk back to Walter either, I'm sure we've all seen the interviews. Btw, WS + AM = title 53. No KMcD or ID in there?

Guilty. It is fun to give Chic abuse. Particularly when he's breaking stories half a day after Ian.

Lol, been some funny posts in this thread.

2009 - 5 goals in 17 games for WBA (loan) 2007 - Present - 10 in 53 Nancy in Ligue 1 2005/7 11 in 53 for Utrecht in Eredivisie 2004/5 10 goals in 33 games for Stade Brest in Ligue 2 2003/4 10 in 34 for Rouen (Loan) Currently 4th division, unsure where they were when he played. 2002/3 0 in 16 for Lille in Ligue 1 1998/02 18 in 57 for Angouleme (6th division now) League goals taken from wikipedia. A large portion coming in the lower divisions when a young player. As a senior player in the higher divisions he's not much of a goal threat.

I'd be looking for far more than the reputed £500k for an international who has scored 15 goals from midfield in a single season, brings a set peice threat and has good European experience at the highest level; Champions League and the now rebranded UEFA cup. Especially for a player who was mooted as a player of the year whilst on loan to a team for only half a season. He's young, naturally gifted in terms of technical ability and has an eye for the spectacular. See goals on his recent loan spell. Sure he looks heavy and lacks a yard of pace but off-set that against all hsi attributes and £500k is an absolute steal/farce. If his parent club was from England, his loan performances would see him being touted for a several million pound move.

I was just going off on a rant about a random irritation of mine anyway. Take it there's been no updates on Furman as of yet?

That was the context in which I was using the word. What else do you take hinder to mean. Had Smith been manager rather than PLG Hutton would've been better sooner and so Rangers would have benefitted from him for longer. From this page first result for hinder is "to cause delay". I didn't mean PLG stopped him from becoming the player he did (though if he hadn't have fallen out with Bardsley he might have done). I meant he prevented Rangers from having as good a player as they could on their books for as long as we could have (i.e. if he had developed his full potential earlier we'd have a better player for longer). Regards the last paragraph. Yes you can learn from watching other players in your position, but i'd rather Hutton played for Rangers and watched the RBs of Inter Milan, Man Utd, Chelsea, Barca etc. What's he going to learn from PB? That way he gets to learn by playing and by watching as you say. It wasn't a massive problem. PLG's man management problems forced him to plunger Hutton back into the team. I'm just pissed that he couldn't spot a potentially world class RB from a journeyman and that only falling out with the journeyman stopped him holding back Hutton's development any further. Completely dragged this thread off topic now.

Record at WBA: Hardly inspiring.

I know Hutton was a target of the boo-boys, but in all honesty, they are idiots. I could see Hutton was a player even then. Go back and check my posts. Even the "pish" Hutton was at worst, on a par with Bardsley but had more height and so was less of a target and weakness for cross field balls on top of the fullbacks as exploited in one of our Euro qualifiers when bardsley played. Yes Hutton became all the things you say, but it may have happened earlier had PLG played the better player. If Hutton improved from sitting on the side lines it was in spite of PLG's tactical nouse and footballing brain, not because of it. he didn't bench Hutton to improve him, he did it because he mistakenly thought Bardsley was better. I still think you learn more by playing than you do sitting in the stands. Especially a player regaining form and confidence after injury.

Hutton doesn't strike me as the sort who needs adversity to stoke up his hunger for the game. It is a rarity to find a Scot in the game who is such an outstanding athlete, due to a lot of the negative social factors we find invovled in Scottish sport. Sure a lot of it is no doubt natural athleticism, but you still have to work to maintain and enhance that ability. Therefore I don't see how a stint on the sidelines whilst a clearly inferior players plays can be of benefit to Hutton. Of course we can't say definitively what would and wouldn't happen. But part of being a fan is questioning every decision and choice made. We all do it every week with team selections. We can however use the evidence and educated opinion to make up our opinion on the situation. Hutton stagnating on the sidelines whislt Bardsley played looked bad to me. He came in towards the end of PLG's tenure and then was first choice under Walter and a regular run of games turned him into a £9million player. Looks like playing Bardsley hindered his progress to me. Ps. No one questions fans who blindly believe PLG would've come good at Rangers with absolutely no evidence to support such a supposition. My suggestion he hindered Hutton is a lot less pie in the sky than that.

Didn't go and bother them because they where with Borwn? Not a bad night at the races.

Reported in what i've been told is Germany's biggest fanzine. A poor google translation. And a rough translation from a bear:
-
Another fan says the spoke to Thommo at Hamilton races and he said he'd definitely be fit for pre-season beginning but Edu wont be back training til September. (So prob not back playing for several weeks after that).
-
That is a little concerning to me. Would like to have another experienced CB as back up, or even ousting Weir as first choice. I think CB particularly is a position where you can't pitch someone in too young. Imagine a young lad, not fully developed and filled out having a physical battle with some of the SPL's target men.
-
That still rankles with me. Hutton was clearly a better player than Bardsley and PLG playing the Man U youth (until they fell out in ridiculous circumstances) hindered Hutton's progress. Not too fussed about Aaron. If he was that great Valencia wouldn't have let us have him permanently. If he's not, we don't want him. Looked like he might have something for the future, so Valencia would just have took him back once he'd got first team football. However, Smith used him sparingly and we won the league. In this case the ends justify the means don't they.

£4 million? Hope they get him. Was looking at his goalscoring record on wikipedia the other day. Most his goals have come below the top division in France.
-
T'was a joke (evidently a bad one ) because of the "Parc y" bit. Looked French to me. Like Parc des Princes.
-
I know the other teams are routinely pish in Europe but surely Motherwell can beat a rugby team at football? Parc y Scarlets? Why they playing it in France though?
-
Could we do something similar to what Pompey have on their website? Was browsing their website looking at something else and noticed the link for PTV. A free service too. Should we be looking to do something similar on our website with the demise of Setanta and RTV?

Good, hopefully be out before we start our season. :spl:

What d'ya think? Oguchi Onyewu as Magic's partner?

Needs to recognise he has to be patient at a club like Rangers. If he can't do that, might be best for him to move on.

If United and the rest had not gone with Setanta rather than Sky like the OF and the Sheep wanted we'd have had greater world wide exposure and not be scraping around for any deal we can get for tv rights. So the United Chairman should stfu too.
