Is Goodwillie any better than Naismith or Fleck - players he'd be directly competing with for a forward role?
-
Not sure about Conway... Good thing about him is that he can play wide without being an out-and-out winger. Very much a Walter player then. I'm just not sure he's good enough overall though.
-
We've also signed the lad McMahon and Wayne Drummond from Millwall for the young teams...
-
Apparently the club are considering legal action over the NotW article.
-
Aye, he and Bauben are good players but I'm not sure they are good enough to make the step into our team.

Certainly don't see administration as being an agreeable option... Also don't see it happening any time soon.

As long as I still get an invite to his usual Xmas supper at the Norton House, I'll be quite happy...

I wrote to Sir David Murray last week about the overall situation...
-
Yes, this was mentioned last month when the issue first came to light.
-
The club have already deferred it to them that's why. Of course they can (and probably should) do more but I'm not sure what else they can say. Perhaps they'll give you a clearer answer when you call later.
-
Rangers have said it is MIH's responsibility. They should be the ones commenting and/or contacted.
-
Rangers have already commented on the tax issue if I'm not mistaken? Fair enough a bit of further information wouldn't go amiss but I thought you thought it was nonsense?
-
In an ideal world we would have such a moratorium but for every nonsense story with no quotes, there are stories which are worth discussing.

Boumsong is doing pretty at Lyon now...
-
The Wilson/Liverpool link seems too strong for it to be unlikely - especially when you think about the manager's comments about him not being here next year,

Must admit I'd never have thought I'd see the day Kris Boyd or Maurice Ross would be described as exotic on this forum....
-
Albertz and Ferguson are/were different types of players to be fair... I liked the big German and he was an important player for us for a few years. His mobility and work-rate wasn't the best - Charlie Adam is probably the nearest comparison in recent years.

The season ticket renewal deadline has passed and I believe take-up has been pretty similar to last year as it stands. Of course that doesn't mean people couldn't ask for a refund before the season starts. I'm sure by that time the situation will be somewhat clearer.

You're probably right, our club does look daft and is easy meat for those who wish to prey on the juicy titbits thrown by some. Unfortunately, I think every unofficial site has been vocal enough on the subject and I doubt any joint statements would result in any further comment from the club. We've all consistently asked for clarity (not just from the club either) and have largely been ignored - deliberately or otherwise. A few wee websites asking for more are easily swatted aside when fan groups have been satisfied and season books are renewed regardless. If the club's version of events is to be challenged then, while I thank you for your faith, then more suitable people than me have to step up to the plate. In saying that, as indicated to N_L yesterday, I'm more than happy to assist where necessary.

Contract renewals is something that has to be dealt with on an ongoing basis. I'd have thought any income this year will be firstly used on offering suitable new contracts before buying new players. Once again we can only hope these contracts are in line with what players can reasonably expect. Seems to me offers made to players so far have been reasonable enough - if we're to believe the figures quoted unofficially.

I just can't see the bank cutting our wages by almost half this year - after the savings we've already made in recent times. If that is likely it goes against the reasonably positive outlook suggested by Johnston, Bain and Muir just last weekend to supporters representatives. Not to mention the comments at their own AGM.
-
Like I say we can all speculate but, without the facts, we only run the risk of looking daft at some point down the line.

As confirmed in the minute, the chairman has not been involved in the Ellis negotiations at this stage. That, in itself is somewhat disappointing but until Ellis decides to move forward, not altogether surprising. Obviously, by agreeing to the published minute, Muir and MIH have confirmed the proof-of-funding anyway. OK, that doesn't carry the same weight as an announcement on the Rangers website (or PLUS) but given the club chairman and Donald Muir were present and would have had to approve the minutes, the state of play seems genuine enough. Unfortunately, we just don't know if the bid per se is genuine - both in terms of an actual offer and the plans within it.
-
The Assembly was a club creation and is imperfect in terms of his independence from the football club but I don't believe those present at the meeting would all be coming out afterwards with signed photos of Donald Muir. Going by the official minute it was suggested Ellis' proof of funds was confirmed but that alone doesn't mean the club will accept a bid or that the independent panel will recommend it to the minority shareholders (or agree with SDM/Muir et al). Or that Ellis will indeed make a bid obviously. Ellis may be a stalking horse. He may not. No-one apart from Ellis, Murray and Muir know that. I assume Johnston would have his suspicions but even he seems happy to pass on information to the contrary in public. Who knows what he is saying privately? Anything other than concentrating on the bland official information available is speculation and none of us know the truth.
