  1. The only complaint about the property angle is the one MF alludes to in that Rangers may become 2nd best to the interests of the developer. In saying that, I have no problem with anyone making money or increasing their profile from owning Rangers as long as the club itself also gains out of it. I think the SDM success/failure argument is summed up in that sentence. He has made money and improved his profile since he bought the club but we've not made any great strides operationally during his time. Sure, we've had relative success on the park and Murray Park is certainly a huge improvement but generally speaking Sir David Murray has arguably done better out of us than we have of him. Perhaps not to the extent some will claim but I think that is as succinct as we'll get on the matter! Andrew Ellis would do well to recognise that analysis. Making SDM an honorary president suggests he doesn't which means he needs to improve on his fan communication skills as a priority.
  2. In essence I agree with that but I'd have thought they'll still have to make a report now on whoever bids - if anyone.
  3. Agreed - thread closed.
  4. Yeah, reading it again I think it means QPR... Can't remember where else I'd seen his name mentioned though...
  5. I'm sure something similar about our interest had been posted elsewhere. A bit confusing I suppose...
  6. I don't think people have necessarily called you a liar per se; just that your information may be wrong. But, yes, if I had taken the flak you have had (often unreasonable and unfair) I'd be smug as well! Anyway, we're treading back onto shaky ground here lads, so let's keep on topic.
  7. Ambrose on his way? Confusing Mail article below! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1283251/Darren-Ambrose-switch-QPR-rocks-gasp-stadium-deal-saves-Crystal-Palace-closure.html
  8. Can't say I know enough about the lad to comment.
  9. Agreed. It is up to the other teams to play hardball in their compensation negotiations or provide their own club improvement to keep players. Perhaps Mr Thompson would like to spend more time examining the Utd model which comprises of a dilapidated stadium and a club who have to train at a variety of public parks.
  10. "We're not here to be liked, just envied" Perfect...
  11. Indeed. I don't understand the high 5s we've seen because Ellis may finally buy. Sure, a change is as good as a holiday but even with the flaws/mistakes of the Murray reign and the stress of the bank's influence; sometimes it is better the devil you know. I'm hoping we're at the stage of the Rangers buy-out committee formulating their response to the Ellis plan. Their opinion will be valuable - if ultimately impotent. It would be good to know if the supporters representatives were also in receipt of this plan and/or attempting to organise a pro-active (or pre-active) response to it!
  12. Yeah, that's how I'd interpret Ellis' intentions as well N_L but as always the devil is in the detail... While his name is mentioned above, as Suck has said elsewhere, what makes Ellis so different/better from SDM/MIH/PPG in being able to deliver on the G51 proposals? I guess he may have secured funding from people less inclined to be involved with SDM and that may explain why they're not keen to make their association known until he is out of the picture completely. Unfortunately, we can only base our analysis on hope rather than expectation which, after spending/investing another £420, is rather unfair. I suppose we may know more by this time next week.
  13. What race? Did anyone else even want him?
  14. PS: This subject would make a good article for the main site MF....
  15. This is something I wanted to talk about last week when I heard about Walter re-signing. At first, like most bears probably, I was delighted that he was staying on but on reflection I immediately thought of previous examples (like 1998) where it isn't always a good motivational tool to let your staff know you're leaving. On the other hand because we know McCoist is to be the new man, hopefully the staff will realise if they don't play to the required levels, they won't be here next season. Similarly, for those who are out of contract next summer (Thomson, Wilson et al) the McCoist information may give them security. Problem is, what happens if we have an awful season on the pitch. McCoist will surely be seen as culpable by the support so how can we possibly give him the job then? All in all, I'm going to stick with my first instinct and see this as good news. Mainly because we needed Smith to stay on and that I'm sure he will have learned and hurt from what happened in 1998 more than anyone.
  16. Aye, will be good to catalogue all the rumours... Ledley is supposedly still to talk to us after he's visited Roma.
  17. Right this has been re-opened. To be clear, this forum is built upon sensible debate without personal insults and the goading of other users. Differences of opinion are to be expected and are wholly welcomed. However, this must be done in a respectful fashion. We're also happy to discuss most (if not all) issues as long as that spirit is maintained. Our forum rules are very general and there is room for flexibility therein. As a result, we hardly ever need to close threads or 'discipline' users. Not because the moderation is good but because the bulk of our users post maturely and are all capable of staying within the rules. For those who like to massage those rules and spoil the debate by getting personal with those you may disagree with, I'm going to respectfully ask you to keep the debate civil and refrain from stuff that is not relevant. If you can't do that, then go elsewhere as I won't have this forum spoilt for the majority who abide by our simple rules.
  18. PS: I will be removing the offending posts and re-opening the thread then for those of us who can talk about important issues like adults. Those who can't don't want to test my patience.
  19. Enough of this tedious nonsense please. The fact I am having to come on here at this time via my phone to close threads that should be interesting debates and not schoolground rammies is rather embarrasing. I better be in a good mood tomorrow when I visit.
  20. Club have offered him an improved contract making him one of (if not the) highest paid players at the club. As it stands, he has chosen to reject it because he wants a new challenge. Club can't do much about that - as is also the case with Danny Wilson.
  21. Can't see us being seriously interested in Miller - even if we've been linked with him before. We arguably do need a striker with a bit of presence but Miller isn't of the quality required IMO.
  22. FF is still by far the busiest forum. Obviously the quality of the debate can be, erm, debated but dubious accounts or not, their traffic is still higher than the rest of the community combined.
  23. I'm not convinced Boyd will leave yet... All the signs point to it - officially or unofficially - but it wouldn't surprise me to see him stay.
  24. I think Boyd was somewhat of a special case where we felt we could persuade him to stay while needing his goals to secure the title also.
  25. Aye, it is a bit of a strange one that.
