McGregor would be good value for most clubs so that can only be good for us if we do decide to sell. The lad has done well for us but as long as reinvest the funds from his transfer I'd be happy to let him move on.

http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/2010/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=251:when-are-the-rules-not-the-rules&catid=1:articles&Itemid=67 Another tight Rangers win, another game in which sections of the Scottish football fraternity highlight a decision which benefits the champions elect. This time, Rangers are supposedly lucky to undeservedly win against lowly Hamilton - despite missing three sitters, hitting the post , having the bulk of possession (52:48) and restricting Hamilton to just one shot on goal. Of course, the balance of play is ignored to concentrate on the disallowed goal Hamilton 'scored' late in the game and portray the loss as unjust. Basically, as one can see from the BBC highlights, James McCarthur 'scored' from an Alex Neil cross but the goal was disallowed because Joel Thomas was clearly offside. Obviously, modern rules state a player must be in an 'active' role interfering with play during the 'active' phase of the game so quite often it is difficult to judge just what phase is happening and just who is active. However, as any 'fair-minded' viewer will attest (thanks to Celtic FC for that adjective) there is only one phase of play and Thomas is clearly active given he tried to head the ball before it struck McCarthur - affecting the reactions of Allan McGregor. One can then only ask why the BBC's neutral and informed commentator Liam McLeod thinks the goal should have stood? Anything for a good conspiracy, Liam? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/8602903.stm :robbo:

Yep, I'd also be happy with that.

Rangers 1 - 0 Hamilton: Player Ratings and MoM Poll
Frankie replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Although McGregor had one great save he didn't have a great deal to do outwith that. I will agree he seemed to be one of the few players on show that expected more from the team and I found myself cheering him on and he went mental after Hamilton 'scored' their goal. -
As Smith has proven, there is no reason why a manager can't rebuild as he goes along - ensuring competitiveness and success at the same time. Quite simply PLG did neither and arguably just didn't sign the right players. Mowbray was guilty of the same mistake - while also allowing players to leave that he should have perhaps kept until May at least. Sure there were other factors but in many ways they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Rangers sneak past Hamilton at Ibrox Stadium to retain ten point lead at top of SPL. http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/2010/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=249:rangers-1-0-hamilton-player-ratings-and-mom-poll&catid=35:analysis&Itemid=67 :sw: for me in another turgid display from the bears. Hope those who think the league is done and dusted don't have their confidence misplaced!

The number of companies Mr McPherson is involved with, I doubt a fee for the odd meeting was too much of a problem for him to waive. As long as the Trust reps didn't offer a Da Vinci painting, I'm sure they'd be OK...
-
Whatever office he uses, he can expect an email or phone call from Mr Cannonball as we speak... (But since his PA is viewing this forum, she can say her boss is on holiday) :box:
-
The rep was Malcolm McPherson (former Hibs chairman) of Glasgow solicitors HBJ Gateley Wareing...
-
Rather harsh on you guys if the leak didn't come from the Trust. I assume you've made contact since the weekend to find out if his interest has indeed ended. If so, while I understand his thoughts are to be respected, I hope he gave you the respect of a full explanation why he pulled out as expecting to keep anonymity is pretty unrealistic IMO.
-
Has to be Goram - I rate him as one of the best 'keepers ever; he was every bit as good as Schmeichel for example.
-
Unfortunately, McColl pulling out may mean the RST's chances of working with other potential buyers (or their representatives) are minimal. Unless, of course, McColl hasn't pulled out at all but only suggested as much to put some off the scent...
-
I can understand business people wanting to keep negotiations/plans private until such time they are appropriate for debate as they wouldn't want premature, imperfect stuff spoiling their reputation. However, I'd have though the chances of such stuff leaking were always reasonably high, so can't understand why a strategy wasn't set-up in the event of this happening - as opposed to saying, that's it; I'm off! Of course, I'm no businessman - successful or otherwise - so my opinion is probably without much value!
-
PS: I'd love to hear directly from Ellis as well.
-
We'll never know since he seem so reticent when it comes to publicity... Perhaps he was never overly keen anyway so his potential as a buyer or underwriter overplayed? No matter, it now looks likes like Ellis or no-one - until such time Dave King sorts out his SARS problem.
-
If that's the case, I assume Mr McColl will be changing who he conducts his financial business with, if his advisers or bank leaked the information. Wonder who he banks with...? I must admit I find him stepping back just because his name has been prematurely mentioned a bit disappointing. That and his haste to mention the Partick Thistle stuff means perhaps he wasn't the best person to be involved anyway.
-
Very fair point mate...
-
Yea, realise that - the figures are well out IMO....
-
I think it would be more like £2million per year if he moved to Brum - especially since he's available on a free. The £18K we've supposedly offered him is pretty good so I can't see that going up at all. As such it is up to the lad now.
-
Oh, definitely a generation thing mate - I never got to see guys like Greig and Jardine for example so can't really comment on them. For modern players though, Gough is the man - he's easily dismissed in favour of Laudrup, Gascoigne or Goram but IMO was better than them all.
-
Just before my time but he's just behind Capucho in my all-time greats anyway... Jiggy-Jiggy!
-
BTW, for me Richard Gough is Rangers' greatest ever player. So there!

From Scotland's Greatest Team: http://sport.stv.tv/greatest-team/players-managers/164188-richard-gough/ Apologise in advance for the close up of Davie Dodds in that video. :robbo:

Seems like the continuity we've had in terms of personnel over the last 18months is about to change drastically then if McGregor, Bougherra and Boyd all leave... I hope Mr Chester is earning his crust to find suitable replacements and I hope Mr Bain earns his in terms of securing the kind of fees we'll need to rebuild. Will be exciting to see some new faces but worrying that - once again - they'll not improve our team.
