The media coverage is just games from those interested to apply pressure to the bank/MIH via supporter frustration... Like you, I'm sure those wanting to buy know exactly what Lloyds/MIH want so are using the media to try and reduce that price.

Let's put it this way, if Mr Cannonball keeps on with his refusal to take part in the spirit of the board properly he may find his membership going the way of others he had on other forums - cockny (sic) rebel or not.

I'm afraid your common sense has about as much sway as the pen of Darrell King... When you have something tangible to add, I look forward to reading it. In the mean-time I don't think the share issue of 2005 is one that will be affecting the sale of the club all that much.

Both have used the media to their own benefit over the years so they can't have many complaints when the shoe is on the other foot - as it was with Lomandgate. However a rape story is a whole new ball-game of course.

King is a very wealthy man but I'm not sure he has the wealth required to underwrite the bid himself - hence the addition of a few bodies to the alleged consortium. Paul Murray isn't rich either (but is respected in a business sense) so we can only assume the two other parties have the type of net-worth that complements King's. The names rumoured are Dougie Park and Graeme Souness so while both of these men are respected in the Rangers supporting community and are wealthy in their own right; they still don't command the type of cash that would help buy the club and under-write its activities over the coming years. Obviously these names may be inaccurate and/or other wealthy supporters may make their interest known now others names (sans Graham Duffy) have broken cover slightly.

Not surprising they go after the most high profile person... Hopefully AM will keep that in mind the next time such a paper asks him to do a photo-shoot.

It is a disgrace how these people are named before charges are even brought - never mind a court case where they can show their innocence. McGregor is a strong character but this issue will test him to the full over the coming weeks and months.

That's Celtic fan Michael Grant speaking in that article... Seems like King is on gardening leave at the moment.

Ach, I'm sure the Trust are more than aware of their place in the game of chess that is going on. Sometimes checking on who is playing before commenting is maybe fair criticism though...

I think most learned viewers would appreciate Lloyds aren't going to come out and say they want £30million to sell. However, by tarring them as the villain of the piece, it buys any buyer(s) time and makes them look good when, in actual fact, they appear as tardy as Lloyds in their work so far.

All this media coverage is just part of the game. As I said yesterday people are pulling in favours to try and gain some leverage on Lloyds. May or may not work but I think recent months has shown the support can apply a bit of pressure so it's certainly worth exploring further. Some will prefer more pressure, some will prefer less but no-one knows what the situation is for certain and with Rangers remaining competitive in the SPL, the bank may not be in too much of a rush to accept a low(ish) offer on their debt.

Strictly speaking he is a fans chief though as he's the vice-chair of the Trust (or did he step down from that office-bearing role)? I wouldn't get too annoyed about that as usually there is more interesting stuff to debate - agreeing or not as the case may be with all of us.

So the whole 'bank was running the club' statement...
Frankie replied to Totti's topic in Rangers Chat
Wasn't the Smith bank quote after the Hibs draw at Ibrox - an enjoyable game in which we played pretty well? I don't doubt the manager did use the issue to spin away from his critics but if it results in an improved club and more transparency from the bank, then I'm reasonably comfortable with that. -
So the whole 'bank was running the club' statement...

I don't think it is as black or white as some suggest and it may be April before we can fully judge the influence of Lloyds on MIH (and thus Rangers). Of course by that time the club may well be sold. Only time will tell if the new buyers can improve our operations but as long as we're in the SPL we'll always be limited as to what we can achieve. Most important thing in the short term is to secure the SPL title. -
Fans' chief doesn't bother me - only the pedantic (with respect) would be annoyed at the press using such a term... In terms of what David says, I agree with him in that the bank and/or MIH need to be clear in what they want and the same goes for anyone interested in buying the club. Have they performed due diligence yet or is that not overly important given King and Murray are directors?
