The Balkan situation (particularly between Serbs and Bosniaks) isn't entirely different to the one in NI/Scotland, where racial distinctions are negligible and the hatred is more based on religious affiliation. Regardless of what you or I think, UEFA view sectarianism on a par with racism. Additionally, the Scottish Government view the term 'F*nian' as a sectarian, not a political, term.

Demanding harsh punishment for something you yourself will also be punished for is a bit silly, I agree. Racism is despicable. But we need to bear in mind who makes decisions and not dig holes for ourselves.

I doubt Facebook/Instagram or racists in central Europe (or elsewhere) will feel any negative effects of this boycott. Certainly not enough to consider changes are required. The current media reaction to racist abuse might actually have the opposite effect of that intended (I'm sure zitty Instagrammers in Prague, Cork or Napoli would love to say something newsworthy).
