http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/rangers/daly-entering-home-straight-on-rangers-trophy-trail-152858n.23486021 JON Daly had no qualms about dropping down two divisions to sign for Rangers after the Ibrox club came in for him last summer. Matthew Lindsay Sports Journalist Thursday 20/02/2014 And he has revealed that, as Ally McCoist's side edge closer to the business end of the season, he now feels vindicated by his decision. The Glasgow giants are 23 points clear at the top of the SPFL League One table and, if they keep on winning, will sew up the title if they beat second-top Dunfermline on March 15. They are still involved in both the William Hill Scottish Cup and the Ramsdens Cup thanks in no small part to the goals their striker has plundered. The big Irishman was criticised for lacking ambition and accused of being motivated by money when he left top-flight club Dundee United. But having the chance to land not one but three pieces of silverware in the 2013/14 campaign is exciting the 31-year-old. And the man who helped United to beat Ross County at Hampden to lift the Scottish Cup back in 2010 is confident his side can be successful. "Getting the chance to win trophies and titles is the reason why I signed for Rangers," he explained. "When I first talked to the manager last year he spoke highly of the club and of the fans and every word he said to me back then has been true. "It has been a fantastic experience being a player at Rangers. I have enjoyed every minute of it. "We are doing well in the league and are still involved in two cup competitions which is great. "If you are still in there then you are obviously in with an opportunity to win them. We are still going strong and have a chance to progress." Daly has played in more first-team games than any other player at Rangers other than club captain Lee McCulloch this season. The experienced forward has featured in 29 matches in all competitions - just one fewer than his skipper. He has netted 21 goals, too - the latest of which came in a 2-0 win over Ayr United at Somerset Park. Not surprisingly, the 6ft 3in hitman has been taken to the hearts of the Light Blues support this term. Yet, Daly is refusing to relax and enjoy his success until silverware is safely deposited in the trophy room at Ibrox. And the Dubliner is focusing fully on the league games they have coming up - starting with the match against Stenhousemuir at Ibrox this weekend. He said: "The expectation level at this club is so high that you can't afford to take your foot off the pedal for a second. "You need to keep churning out decent performances and picking up three points every week whether you are at home or away. "When the cup games come around they will look after themselves. We need to concentrate on the league between now and then. "We have to try and get over the finishing line. We have to try and clinch the title as soon as we can. When the cup comes along we will look forward to that." Daly added: "We will keep going. We need to keep on winning games in the league. Our focus is on our game against Stenhousemuir this weekend. They have given us a couple of extremely difficult games at Ochilview this season so we know what they are capable of. "We will have to work hard to pick up three points. We just need to concentrate on every game as it comes along." Daly has played in attack with a variety of strike partners since joining Rangers; Nicky Clark, Andy Little, Dean Shiels and David Templeton. But since Clark has been sidelined with a broken bone in a foot he has teamed up with Shiels to devastating effect. The Northern Ireland internaitonal has bagged six goals in as many games since being brought back into the fold by manager McCoist. His team-mate has enjoyed playing alongside the 29-year-old and feels they complement each other in the final third. Daly said: "Obviously losing Nicky Clark to his foot injury was a blow. But that has meant Dean has got a chance and he has taken it. "He has had to wait a long time to get in. He has had a few niggles and they have held him back this season. "But since getting over his injury problems and coming back into the team he has shown what he is capable of. "Everyone in the Rangers squad knew that Dean was a class act and now he is showing that. Dean is a very, very clever player. "He is a fantastic player and I really enjoy playing up front with him. He is a clever player, we have different strengths and I think we have linked up quite well."

I wonder how many supporters will give up their ST, in favour of paying game to game?

Rangers play Dunfermline on Sunday. CHARLIE TELFER wants Rangers’ kids to keep showing the improvement they demonstrated last week against Aberdeen when they travel to Motherwell tomorrow. The Dons and Well are the only two teams which have beaten Gordon Durie’s Murray Park youths in 18 SPFL Under-20 League outings so far this season. Those results came back to back in September and October as the Pittodrie side won 2-0 at Dumbarton then the Steelmen were 2-1 victors at Ibrox. The Light Blues have responded superbly to those setbacks and have gone 14 games unbeaten in all competitions, winning each of their last nine. The most recent one was arguably the most satisfying as it saw Gers beat the Granite City team 2-1 in Peterhead six days ago with a determined performance. Telfer, 18, has been a key player in the change in fortunes and just as they were able to turn things around in the north last week, he hopes Rangers can do the same again at Fir Park. Durie will take his team to Fir Park (kick-off at 6pm) without the injured Andy Murdoch and Kyle McAusland. Jamie Burrows is also a doubt but Danny Stoney will return to the squad again after missing the last couple of matches. Midfielder Telfer said: “The result at the beginning of the season against Motherwell was poor and we’re still hurting from that. “We didn’t play well and it was a bad night for us so we’re definitely wanting a bit of revenge there. “It was good to beat Aberdeen last week after losing to them earlier in the season too. We started poorly but then came back into the game. “Half-time came at a bad time for us as we were doing well but then we went 1-0 up and at that point we felt we deserved the lead. “We did well after that to get the win and now we’re looking to show the same sort of improvement at Fir Park.” Telfer was speaking as he teamed up with Durie and his team-mates Luca Gasparotto and Calum Gallagher to promote Sunday’s SFA Youth Cup tie with Dunfermline. Rangers will host the Pars at Ibrox with kick-off at 1pm and admission to the Enclosure in the Bill Struth Main Stand is £5 for adults and only £1 for kids. Telfer is focused on the meeting with Well before then and he says Gers have set a standard for themselves recently which they have to live up to this week. He added: “We’ve been putting in good performances and when we’ve not played as well we’ve still been able to grind out results. “We’ve been working hard and there’s a good team bond at the moment which is a really good thing. It’s doing a lot for us.” http://t.co/I3CQ5z5cXz

Supporters Direct chief calls on Rangers fans to unite...

To me, King is a better option than we have at the moment, far from ideal but just the better option. Whatever way he goes about it, I hope it works and soon. I thought you were a man of means. -

It's obviously the way he wants to go, whether we think it is the right way or not. Some would say there is investment waiting in the wings, King is trying to say show us it before the shit hits the fan. -

Aye shut-up Dave, everything is hunky dory. -
Merlin now putting it about that King got his money back from Rangers. 'One of those versions is that King received all or a substantial part of that money back, although it does not to my knowledge exist as a transaction in Rangers’ books, though others may know better. Of course, the argument flares up every now and then with fans adamant that King didn’t get a penny of his £20 million investment back while others claim he did. This article from November 2008 contains a very interesting reference to King having received a payment of R200 million from Rangers Football Club (roughly about £11 million). So it raises the obvious question: Did Dave King receive money back on his investment in Rangers and how much? What form did that investment take would be another question fans could ask.' Who needs timmy when merlin is about.

My earlier post about the the same people as usual and how they all had history together alludes to this. It may be that it will need an outsider to take it forward, but as Andy posts .........WHO? -

It's good to hear the different views, I'm looking forward to see what comes out of the meeting. Perhaps fans involvement needs a vehicle which has only one aim and doesn't get involved in other matters. -
