Today's Glasgow Airport Action: New comments from Llambias and King
chilledbear replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Dave King has insisted that he has lined up a Stock Exchange nominated adviser for Rangers ahead of him assuming control at Ibrox. Former Rangers oldco director King is set to claim victory at the club’s EGM on Friday where his move to oust current board members Derek Llambias and Barry Leach and replace them with himself and his allies will be carried by what he claims will be a “landslide” majority. Chief executive Llambias has questioned King’s ability to fund the club after his takeover. Furthermore, following the announcement that trading in Rangers shares was suspended following the resignation of its nominated adviser (Nomad), Llambias was sceptical about King’s ability to find a replacement to allow the company to continue to trade on the Stock Exchange. Arriving at Glasgow Airport ahead of the EGM, King said that he already had a Nomad who were happy to deal with him and that they would act for Rangers if happy with the club’s accounts. He would not reveal the identity of the company involved but when asked to confirm he had one lined up he said: “Yes but when you say ‘I have a Nomad’ ....I think we’ve addressed the money issue. I think the point I wanted to make is it’s not my Nomad. The club has to have a Nomad. “I think Llambias should understand that. He’s confusing the AIM listing with the club. It’s the club that has to have the Nomad. “All I have done is, in advance of the change of board, ensured there is another Nomad willing to come in. The club has to appoint them so that process can only happen after the general meeting. “I’ve got one [lined up] who has done due diligence on the individuals but the key component for any Nomad is the club itself. “Nomads are concerned about the financial affairs of the club. It’s the one area where I’ve been able to give no more input than what I’ve read in the newspapers. “If we succeed tomorrow, and I think we will, then we will get it immediately. It’s a process that would be done in a day or so.” Rangers have already begun the process of drawing down the second £5m of Mike Ashley’s £10m loan and Llambias earlier told STV it because the club “had to” and had “a duty to”. Asked if King was not able to provide those required funds, the chief executive replied “Has he offered to provide those funds? No he hasn’t.” On Thursday evening, King responded by claiming that he had the funds required to invest in Rangers, in conjunction with other investors. “I don’t have [all the money required] but I think if you look at money I have agreed previously is that I would go 50/50 with other investors," he said. "Between myself and the other investors I think we have sufficient to take it forward in the medium term. “It’s difficult to say [how much]. I said about £20m in the short term but I’m concerned there’s other areas of the club where money’s needed to be spent as well. I think it’ll be north of £20m in the short- to medium-term. “The arrangement that I’ve had in the proposals that I gave to the boards was that I would take on 50% of the funding and that I expected other individuals to take on the other 50%. That’s where your Paul Murrays, George Lethems, Brian Kennedys and Douglas Parks all come in. “It would be a 50/50 split but I don’t see me as carrying the sole burden. Initially we thought £16m to £20m would be the right level for the next couple of years ... but right now my indication is that the figure would be higher.” http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/rangers/312774-dave-king-insists-he-has-a-nomad-lined-up-ahead-of-rangers-takeover/ -

I'm not sure STB was any worse on here than than others, who seem to have forgotten all they said. Frankie and forlan were attacked frequently on another Forum where STB was a poster, I think that is what grates with many. Whether STB joined in I have no idea, but in the end if someone admits they were wrong and joins in the discussion then they are welcome as far as I am concerned. -
Don't give some on here any ideas.

We have to start influencing decisions.

19:31, 4 March 2015 By Record Sport Online THE club owner-in-waiting has tonight released a conciliatory statement that accepts he must be scrutinised by financial and football rulers. DAVE KING has tonight revealed Paul Murray will be named on Friday as Rangers chairman while the Stock Market and SFA bosses rule on whether he is fit and proper. The Castlemilk-born businessman released a conciliatory statement that accepted he should be scrutinised by financial and Hampden rulers. King, who was a director of oldco that suffered an insolvency event and was found guilty of 41 tax charges, once again thanked the fans for helping him secure the club he has always supported. He also insisted he is ready to "rebuild relationships" with the rest of Scottish football, many of which were damaged by the likes of Charles Green. King, who will be successful in blitzing the current board at the egm in 48 hours, said: "An important issue that was repeatedly (and correctly) raised by the previous board is the need for the regulators to be given time to complete the necessary due diligence on myself - given my intended role as chairman of the company. "However, engagement with the regulators can only commence at the specific request of the company and that process can only be initiated on conclusion of the general meeting. "It is important that I lead by example following my commitment to transparency and accountability. "I will therefore delay acceptance of my appointment as director until the regulators have completed due process. "Paul Murray has agreed to act as interim chairman of the company until this process has been concluded. Additional board appointments will be announced in the near future. "I again thank fans and shareholders for their support in bringing about the much-needed change that allows our club to progress to a better and more recognisable future. "I stressed in previous communications that the club must operate in a transparent manner with the appropriate standard of governance and accountability. "I also committed that the club will engage with fan groups to facilitate the continuation of the recent momentum in share purchases so that fans can become a significant voice in the future running of the club. I repeat that commitment. "The club must also take this opportunity to rebuild relationships with the football community in Scotland. This will be to the benefit of the club and Scottish football as a whole." King again took a verbal swipe at the existing board’s Nomad WH Ireland, who this afternoon stepped down. He added: "I confirmed my intention to delay taking up my directorship to WH Ireland on Monday. "Based on that decision WH Ireland agreed to remain in place to effect a proper handover to the incoming Nomad. I coordinated a call between both parties for this afternoon to effect the initial introduction. "However, before this conversation could take place and contrary to our agreement WH Ireland resigned without prior notification to me. That lack of professionalism has characterised WH Ireland’s role as Nomad and reinforces why there was a complete lack of governance and transparency under its watch. "Consequently, to WH Ireland’s and the board’s knowledge, it is blatantly dishonest to suggest that my imminent appointment to the board was of concern to them. "Fortunately, the general meeting is not affected by the suspension. The new board will proceed to ensure that the listing is resumed as soon as possible. "I ask that all who attend the general meeting on Friday do so with the calmness and the dignity that is befitting of this great club." http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/paul-murray-rangers-chairman-until-5274035

@AndyNewportPA Been told King is already in London

I have read King will take advice from Alex Ferguson and Walter Smith about a new Manager, if this is correct and Richard Gough mentioning him as his choice. It may be Alex McLeish. The telephone code is foreign and the voice on the other end is recognisably that of a Scottish manager, but it was not David Moyes on the line from Spain today, it was Alex McLeish in Belgium. Three months before Moyes joined Real Sociedad, McLeish became manager of Racing Genk. “I just wanted a change,” McLeish says, “and this was a chance to do something different, to hopefully flourish in another culture. There’s a freshness to it and I must say I’m invigorated by it. I feel revitalised.” McLeish says he spoke to Steve McClaren about his time at FC Twente in the Netherlands before making the leap. Belgium’s Jupiler League resumes this weekend with Genk seventh, though they could be third if they win their game in hand. McLeish arrived after four games of the season – one defeat and three draws – and might have been talking about his 40-day stint at Nottingham Forest when he said: “When I first came there was a lot of negativity. Every question I was asked was either about players fighting or the fractious relationship between the board and the fans.” McLeish, 55, had been out of work since Forest, whom he left by mutual consent in February 2013. Before that there was a difficult season at Aston Villa, one marked by protests over the fact that McLeish had come from rivals Birmingham City. He had left the Blues after the 2010-11 season which saw the club win the League Cup but also get relegated from the Premier League. The previous season, Birmingham had finished ninth. “I was pretty drained after that Villa year,” he says. “I had to get the enjoyment back.” It is returning at Genk. Depending on progress, he has an initial two-year agreement and he is impressed with the club’s approach, its academy and the coaching. “I like the way it works, the academy teaches the boys to cherish the ball, even the centre-halves. The coaches are good. “After the first half of the season, I think a good achievement would be to get into the top six but I’m not saying that’s all we want. There are about seven clubs behind leaders Bruges and Anderlecht. “We can still make Europe via the play-offs,” he adds. The reality is that Genk are a selling club in a selling league. Thibaut Courtois, Kevin de Bruyne and Christian Benteke have all been and gone from Genk recently. Another loss is 20-year-old midfielder Dennis Praet, who joined Anderlecht and who has been linked with Arsenal. Because of the selling of players, McLeish says “it was almost a rebuilding job here when I came.” Genk’s rebuilding has begun but as with Moyes in San Sebastian there is a personal element, too. The Glaswegian influence on the Premier League is not what it was when Ferguson, Dalglish, Moyes, Lambert, Coyle, Kean and McLeish held court four years ago. But there is life beyond it. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/alex-mcleish-enjoying-new-lease-of-life-with-racing-genk-9984478.html
