  1. Yeh I think it's safe, my point was really that due to how stringent their rules are and the fact Fare don't have an issue reporting us it would be good for the club to get assurances on songs like these.
  2. Very good preview. One thing you mentioned was whether the officials will be wiser to their gamesmanship. Surely it will be far less of an issue because you can be sure that Ibrox will be going ballistic with that kind of thing. Far more pressure on both the Legia players and the ref. Barisic and Flanagan is a really interesting one. I'd normally say Flanagan but tonight I think Barisic. Barisic isn't just a free kick specialist he's excellent at corners too and that could very well be the difference in a tight game. He's better going forward too and I wasn't impressed with Legia as an attacking threat anyway. I don't think we rest anyone for Sunday unfortunately. Celtic are in the same boat there though. All in all it is very exciting to be where we are. I did not expect us to get so close to making the groups this season and to get there would be a huge boost. To go out to this Legia team would be a really big disappointment though simply because they are clearly just not very good.
  3. None of us would object to a fine but it's the likely severity of the punishment that is the problem here. A club should have the chance to warn the fans that they may be forced to play behind closed doors if a song is sung. Nobody expected that. Especially when the same song went unpunished last season.
  4. One of the admins on FF says that Rangers were informed on the evening of the St Joseph's game we were being reported, but were not informed of the punishment until 5pm on the night of the Legia game, giving the club no time to warn fans. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but that is very bad form from UEFA.
  5. I don't know how the timing works with these fines (they took ages to fine us from the St Josephs) but there is no way Celtic will get off with that.
  6. Only thing I would say is that they normally have more Rangers friendly guys on like Scott McDermott who I don't think would ever post unbalanced stuff on Rangers.
  7. By the reference to legacy media outlets do you mean you wouldn’t listen to Record Rangers? I actually think Record Rangers is a good listen and I find it interesting to hear guys who aren’t overt fans talk about us.
  8. It is obvious that that is what what we are currently being fined for, it's just that UEFA's rules are so stringent about anything remotely political and Derry's Walls could be interpreted as political and possibly worse. I'm just thinking it would make sense for Rangers to get it in black and white from UEFA that we will never be fined for this list of songs rather than get stung again when FARE explain to UEFA that DW or similar is in breach of the rules too.
  9. Are songs like Derry’s walls not possibly in breach of rules?
  10. A good bit of this is wilful ignorance. Any Rangers fan who’s older than 20-25 should know that even the tune of TBB is banned in Europe yet you have massive threads on FF about how to change the words. I agree though that Rangers’ lawyers should go through our songbook one by one with someone at UEFA and post the blacklisted songs through all official channels so that there is less opportunity for ignorance. I’d be shocked if we got done for any grey area songs though, we’re loading their gun by singing about the pope and fen1ans.
  11. The correct response to being targeted isn’t defiance it is compliance. If the idiots stop singing these songs we are in a position of strength and no longer susceptible to fines and stadium closures.
  12. I checked this and Celtic got almost the exact same fine as St Johnstone that year (2014) for the same charge. They were fined less in 2016 which suggests Uefa changed the way they calculate some fines in those two years. But the Hapoel and the Linfield fines are the ones that this whole incident brings to my mind. How do you get a part stadium closure for singing a word which some people (not at the game) find offensive (others find a compliment) but get a tiny fine (a couple of days wages for most Celtic players) for doing as much as you can to directly incite visiting fans on the most sensitive matters possible (conflicts in their countries). It really does beggar belief.
  13. This was my worry signing him, as long as it’s not that hammy!
  14. The midfield is actually quite strong in that squad but the defence and striking department is very weak (Robertson and McBurnie aside), pretty shocking really.
  15. I don't know much about how much of an improvement she would be over Robertson (if any replacement at all) but one thing I don't like is how every single year we hear he has got a massive salary bump. In January 2017 we found out his total remuneration was £233k (including £53k bonus). In January 2018 we found out it was £281k (including £64k bonus). In January 2019 we found out it was £311k (including £52k bonus). I'm sure Leeann would work for less than £311k a year or whatever Robertson is on now.
  16. Gerrard has said he thinks he will do well in another league but basically he just hasn't been a good fit. From his Wyscout video I think he definitely has ability and I've been a bit puzzled as to what went wrong but attitude and injuries haven't helped.
  17. I've been looking back at this game and thinking that it will look a much better result in a few months. St Mirren aren't the team they were last season, they have played 3 games against top 5 sides in their opening 3 matches and only conceded 3 goals. It was clear as day in our game that this is a team who should do pretty well this season, they didn't know how to set up like that under previous managers. And with new signings Durmus and McAllister on the wings they have the ability to counter attack. I had a look at Goodwin's record and have to say it looks good too, got Alloa promoted and then kept them up despite being part time, finishing ahead of much bigger clubs in the process. Their pre-season was terrible but Goodwin joined them late and consequently 6 of their starting 11 were signed late in the window. All in all I think we've done very well to come away from there with 3 points and I don't think Aberdeen will be the only side to get a bit of a shock and come away empty handed from Paisley this season.
  18. According to Gary O'Connor we've had a bid turned down for his 15 year old son who is at Hibs' academy. Apparently Chelsea are looking at him and he has a 5 year deal on the table at Hibs if he wants it. I'm guessing he won't come here but it's good to hear we are trying to snap up the best talents from a young age. https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibernian/josh-o-connor-son-of-ex-hibs-and-birmingham-striker-garry-o-connor-a-target-for-rangers-and-chelsea-1-4991413
  19. To be honest I can't bring myself to bother reading the UBs statement never mind respond to it. They had an opportunity and blew it again. The same for most of the "what abouts" like the Green Brigade's use of the word in a banner. @Frankie already posted a quote from UEFA on the Ajax incident which put that issue to bed, it simply doesn't matter if the word is a badge of honour to some Celtic fans. There is really nothing to be said on the whole thing other than cut it out.
  20. The bid was guesswork but I think the initial report on the link came from the french press. I'd be a bit worried if we were replacing Morelos with this guy.
  21. On the topic of centre backs (but not Goldson and Katic), I was hoping Edmundson would have featured a bit more by now. He really impressed most of us pre-season and in the two games he did get in the qualifiers. It isn't easy to rotate the CBs of course but I hope he gets his chance in a league game soon because he looks more than capable.
  22. I’ve given it to Barisic, others have explained well why. Rarely does a moment of genius from a single player turn 1 point into 3.
  23. From memory they actually broke off negotiations on safe standing with the UBs after that, a measure that I and almost all on this forum agreed with. The UBs took the huff and did some silent protests. Edit: don’t know what happened to text size above
