They have a good record at home against bigger teams. We need to fly out of the traps and make sure we get an early goal, no tippy tappy stuff, just get the ball in to dangerous areas as early in the game as possible.

I watched the game back, albeit with disruption, and I just can’t get over how good Davis is at reading the game and opening up the game. He is going to be so hard to replace.

Yes. We paid £7m for Kent though and if Morelos goes who knows, I think we’d certainly get our money back with this guy. Very unlikely to happen though.

A poster on FF claiming he is friends with a Scottish player at Reading and we are "definitely interested" in John Swift. He seems well out of our budget to me. Even if he is, I hope it's true we have shown interest because that would be a much more ambitious signing than Johnson in my opinion.

I thought Docherty had something to offer as a player off the bench, but I suppose you need player who can take over in the case of injuries which I don't think he was.

He's just about to turn 28 so he isn't about potential. It seems the clubs aren't agreed on a fee anyway.

I’m only going on the sportscene highlights unfortunately but it is another good win. We should be beating a side like that by a good bit more but ultimately we have to be happy with that result. Very pleasing to see subs make such an impact too and I'm particularly pleased for Arfield who showed he has still has plenty to offer. Dundee United were exactly as expected, for too soft to hold us off but it was interesting to see that they got our possession down to 61%, which is actually low for a game like that at Ibrox. Did Bolton on the right wing cause any problems on the counter attack? I saw he got Barisic carded but that was all that was shown on the highlights.

And by the way, it was fellow Jamaican Ricardo Gardiner I had got mixed up with, formerly of Bolton ?‍♂️

Yeh it is a bit strange. I was hoping we’d be signing a player to go straight into the first team. Johnson is 28 in a few weeks and the fact he is still at Preston suggests he will be coming in to be a rotation player. We’ve signed a 28 year old from Preston before, a hero with their fans, and he was a Preston level player. Having said that, Johnson does seem to have some attributes that we could do with. From what I have read and seen, he is a player who is mainly about his passing and vision and creativity in general, he isn’t fast and isn’t one to be taking men on very much. He would play in our midfield 3 and not as one of the number 10s. If that description is correct I think be a really useful player to have for games where we are trying to break a team down, even if it is a hugely exciting signing.

Their centre back Connolly had a howler against Kilmarnock, stuck with the ball at his feet. For context, he was signed from Crawley Town. Their other centre back is Mark Reynolds who is obviously very experienced and can be trusted at this level. At left back they have a kid and a new signing from Argentina so I think we could target that area. At right back they have Liam Smith (ex Rangers youth) who has a lot of experience for his age (24), contributes a lot going forward but I've no idea what he's like defensively.
