  1. After the events of the weekend it it as now simple as that? Union flags removed; 'tim' now the new ******; daft songs about politician's wives condemned; 'Dambusters' offensive to a Japanese player; culminating in 5 Rangers fans being arrested and countless warned. Meanwhile the opposition fans have offensive flags claiming we are sub-human, flags remembering terrorists, banners with politicial rebels of the past; continue to use the word 'hun' whenever and wherever they like and none of their fans are arrested. Are we really being paranoid in thinking our behaviour is being constantly highlighted and punished whilst others (particularly Celtic fans) is ignored? Obviously my thread title is a sensationalist one but it is all that inaccurate?
  2. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/rstsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=89&Itemid=1 The RST was inundated with complaints about the treatment Rangers supporters received at the hands of the Police at Parkhead yesterday. Complaints include the Police bizarrely removing Union Flags - the flag of this country - whilst making no attempts to remove flags of a foreign nation being flown by the home support. It was also noted that the Police attitude was unhelpful, negative and unfriendly, despite Rangers supporters having one of the lowest arrest rates of any club in Scotland. It is difficult to escape the conclusion that this attitude was down to the attendance of certain dignitaries at yesterday's match. However, it is surprising that these same rules were not applied to supporters in the home end. After the scandal at Parkhead in November 2005 - where the Rangers support was 90 times more likely to be arrested than those in the home end - it is becoming increasingly clear that the Rangers support is being policed in a different fashion to other supports in Scotland. The RST raised its concerns with the Police at that time; however it is apparent that these concerns were not addressed. We will be seeking a meeting with Strathclyde Police and looking for assurances that this politically motivated campaign against Rangers supporters cease immediately, and that we are no longer subject to a two-tier system of Policing. The treatment of Rangers fans - ordinary, working men and women whose only crime is a love of their team - is a disgrace. The RST feel that if assurances are not given, serious thought must be given to an organised campaign of civil disobedience at matches. Whilst this would not be anyone's preferred option, the time has come for the Rangers support to stand up and be treated fairly.
  3. Have we, as a support, ever found ourselves in a predicament such as the one that faces us at this moment in time? We have an owner (Chairman, custodian, call him what you like) who is running our club into the ground and who is content to sit back and watch us suffer at the hands of political policing, campaigned attacks from media with an agenda and off course, our friends from UEFA. Firstly, Iââ?¬â?¢ll say something that is as controversial as the problems that we face. I donââ?¬â?¢t think that enough of us really care about Mr Murrayââ?¬â?¢s mismanagement or the ââ?¬Ë?political policingââ?¬â?¢ that has been more and more evident on our travels in Scotland for the last 3-4 years. So before we can go about righting the wrongs, we have to engage the ââ?¬Ë?silent majorityââ?¬â?¢ of Rangers fans and open their eyes to the severe problems we face both from within and out-with the Rangers boardroom. As ââ?¬Ë?One Voiceââ?¬â?¢ we can not be ignored in the corridors of power be it at Ibrox of The Scottish Parliament. The RST have thus far been the only ââ?¬Ë?publicââ?¬â?¢ voice of the support and are in constant dialogue with Mr Murray and after the OF game, have asked for a meeting with the police of the policing of said OF game. However, the direction should be coming from within Ibrox. Our owner should be the one that is asking the police why they removed Union Flags from Rangers fans, why they told certain fans that singing Rule Britannia and No Tims In Europe was ââ?¬Ë?sectarianââ?¬â?¢. Our owner should be asking why Rangers fans were 90% more likely to be arrested than Craptic fans at OF game at The Towers. Instead, Dodgy Dave thinks a ââ?¬Ë?dignified silenceââ?¬â?¢ will get us answers. All our ills off and on the pitch point directly back to Dodgy Dave. However, he (God knows how) still retains ionic status amongst the majority of fans. Until we change this misconception, we are farting against thunder and our team will continually go backwards on the pitch and it will come to a day where it will be deemed sectarian if you say that you support Rangers. Now Thatââ?¬â?¢s What I Call Sectarian Beep, Beep here comes the offended bus with Timmy as driver and Jhoke McConnell as ticket collector. After our narrow, but enjoyable victory of the forces of evil, it appears that Timmy, with help from his cohorts in parliament and the media have found a whole lot of new stuff to be offended by ; The Bouncy ââ?¬â?? although been done for years by Bears, Timmy has informed everyone whoââ?¬â?¢ll listen that it celebrates a murder of a catholic in Belfast. The Union Flag ââ?¬â?? yip, the only country in the world where the flag of foreign countries is more welcome and less ââ?¬Ë?offensiveââ?¬â?¢ than OUR OWN flag The National Anthem ââ?¬â?? 90,000 Irish men and woman stood in respect of GSTQ at Crooke Park ââ?¬â?? pity the plastic paddies at Parkhead donââ?¬â?¢t have the same respect as those they claim to ââ?¬Ë?portrayââ?¬â?¢ Punch a Pape ââ?¬â?? No, not one of Stu Francis catchphrases from Crackerjack but apparently a past time of all us big bad Presbyterians Kill A ****** Before I die ââ?¬â?? a song that lives only in Timmyââ?¬â?¢s head. The Dam-busters ââ?¬â?? No sorry, its not the Dam-busters that weââ?¬â?¢ve been doing for years, this is a new version that is done to offend Nakard-motor. Honestly, if Timââ?¬â?¢s didnââ?¬â?¢t exist you couldnââ?¬â?¢t make them up. But this is what we are up against. These lies are printed on craptic websites and picked up by journalists and the next thing we know, they are making news headlines and taken as FACT. What does our club do about it? Nothing, they shrug their shoulders and hope that by not denying these lies, that the public will not listen to the peddlers of hate. It is time that we realised that this mob of bigots (as that is what they are) will be offended by ANYTHING that we do or say (think I am paranoid? then care to explain how one goes about cutting grass into a ââ?¬Ë?sash designââ?¬â?¢?). If we donââ?¬â?¢t fight back highlighting their hypocrisy and their agendas then folks it wonââ?¬â?¢t be long until it is ââ?¬Ë?offensiveââ?¬â?¢ to walk down the street wearing a Rangers top. Cammy F
  4. deemed an 'innappropriate (sp)' song by Strathclyde Police today. Told Rangers fans to stop singing it or there would be arrests. Also, 2 young lads, aged about 14 were thrown out for having a 'Big Jock Knew' banner. It appears that in Jhoke McConnells Scotland, telling the truth is now a crime punishable by arrest. Wonder if any action will be taken against Fhat Bhoy Shlim for kicking a water bottle into the Rangers dug-out of the Tim who throw a missile? Whats that, they still not found the Tim who throw the lighter at Ricksen, you're joking right.......:admin: Cammy F

  6. Today, an Express column written by satirist Scot Hickey referred to Rangers fans as 'huns'. Unacceptable I'm sure you'll agree. This bear took a few mins to write to the journalist and editor (who I know) and got a prompt apology. Hickey will also apologise in tomorrow's paper apparently. Just goes to show we don't need to accept being villified by the press one day then made fun of in the same way the next. Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, Thank you for your communication about the Hickey column. This is a light-hearted column which satirically pokes fun at individuals and organisations. However, it is not the intention of the column or this newspaper to insult or anger anyone. Please accept my sincere apologies if you feel angry or insulted by today's column. I think you will find Hickey will make his own apology in tomorrow's column. Once again, thank you for your interest in the Scottish Daily Express. Just for the record, I am a Falkirk season ticket holder, so have no axe to grind with either side of the Old Firm! Best regards, H. David Hamilton, Executive Editor, Scottish Express Newspapers, Citypoint 2, 25 Tyndrum Street, Glasgow, G4 OJY.
  7. Too lazy to type the quote into the thread title. Football Diary: The best of British The Telegraph. By Martin Smith Last Updated: 1:32am GMT 02/03/2007 When Jeff Randall responded to a throw-away question in a Q&A for the Radio 5 Live website, little did he expect to have the answer repeated in two-foot high letters on a banner spanning half the width of the Copland Stand at Ibrox. Asked which team he supported, the BBC's Business News presenter said: "Glasgow Rangers...they are the quintessential British club." It was immediately pounced upon by The Blue Order, a collection of die-hard Rangers fans dedicated to making Ibrox a loud, fun and intimidating arena, and their banner duly made its debut at the Uefa Cup tie against Hapoel Tel Aviv last week. "It was not really a throw-away line because I meant it," says Randall (pictured), The Daily Telegraph's editor at large. advertisement "Quintessential means the very essence, something in its purest form. And the thing about Rangers, it is based in Scotland, but first and foremost it is a British club. A lot of fans come over from Northern Ireland to support, and a lot of English fans, too. Like Barcelona, it is mas que un club [more than a club]: it stands for something in society. It embraces the whole concept of the union of the United Kingdom, and if you go to Ibrox you'll see the union flag is the one flying highest above the stadium." South of the border, Randall supports West Ham; but that's a different story.
  8. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/rstsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=87&Itemid=1 The Rangers Supporters' Trust has today called on the journalist Gerry McNee and the News Of The World to make a public apology to the Rangers support for the disgraceful slur which appeared on 25 February. This is not the first time Mr. McNee has made deliberately provocative statements about Rangers Football Club and the people who follow it but the next time Mr. McNee wants to view bigotry close up, he should simply look in his bathroom mirror. Mr. McNee wrote: "Perhaps they (Rangers) should be looking at another fringe activity on match days when a section of the crowd jump up and down chanting 'bouncy, bouncy, ha, ha, ha'. Is that based on sectarian gangs in Northern Ireland jumping on the heads of victims? No doubt there's another explanation for that too." Gerry McNee has now reached rock bottom in terms of standards, decency and accuracy by pretending that this is a perverse 'celebration' of the sickening sectarian murder of Robert Hamill in 1997, an accusation previously appearing only on the most extreme Republican/Celtic websites. The 'fringe activity' he talks of is widely known and accepted as a terrace song and dance known colloquially as 'The Bouncy', in evidence amongst Rangers fans as far back as 1989. Indeed in 1994, 3 years before Mr. Hamill's murder, 'The 'Bouncy' is specifically referred to in the Club's own Rangers Video Diary as Security Chief Alistair Hood is jokingly asked if seatbelts will be used to prevent fans in the East and West Enclosures doing this. In light of the evidence, the Trust calls for a full public apology to be printed in next Sunday's News of the World. Should this not be forthcoming, the Trust believes that Rangers FC will have no alternative but to remove media privileges from Mr. McNee and his newspaper, in line with the Chairman's statement to the 2006 Rangers AGM. The RST continues to campaign against REAL bigotry.

  10. After reading the Rangers ICF book, Mike Galloways claims that Ibrox was his fave ground due to the electric atmosphere and think back to the 'good old days', is it fair to say that the Rangers fans have gone 'soft'? Now, I do not mean that in a 'violent' way, I just mean that teams, players and officials are no longer intimidated at Ibrox. Last Saturday, the officials were shit, but there was only a few minor boos directed at them, even when the goal was chopped off. There is no atmosphere at Ibrox either (TBO apart), no rousing singing or chanting etc. Now, I am not advocating attacking refs / lino's at the game, in their houses or their kids at school, leave that to Timmy, but surely its time make Ibrox the fortress it once was. 11. RANGERS latest signing Kevin Thomson was given a 23 minute run-out in tonight's 3-0 win over Airdrie United at the Excelsior Stadium. Kevin Thomson The 22-year-old midfielder recieved a rapturous applause when he came off the bench to replace Alan Hutton in the second-half and he put in an impressive display in his short spell on the pitch. Walter Smith's team dominated the majority of the match and two first-half goals meant the Gers players could enjoy the second and give five substitutes a taste of the action. Davie Weir, one of Rangers best players on the night, opened the scoring with his first goal for the club on 21 minutes. Charlie Adam played a wicked free-kick into the penalty box from the left wing and the defender glaced the ball superbly beyond Airdrie keeper Stephen Robertson. There was not a lot of great football played in the opening 45 minutes but Chris Burke's strike to double his side's advantage was worth the admission fee alone. The winger, playing on the left, cut inside his marker before firing a terrific shot from 25 yards which flew into the roof of the net. Ally McCoist and Kenny McDowall were in charge of the team in the absence of manager Walter Smith, and they decided to take Weir and Svensson off at the interval and replace them Weir celebrates goal against Airdrie with Ugo Ehiogu and Sasa Papac. Thomas Buffel then came off the bench prior to the hour mark before Thomson was given the biggest cheer of the night when he was introduced to the game. Rangers retained possossion impressively in the second-half and the Rangers fans were out of their seats again with eight minutes remaining when Filip Sebo fired home a third, much to the delight of the travelling Gers support. Burke fed the ball to the Slovakian striker and he cut inside before firing a low right-foot shot through a ruck of players. The relief of his face after he finally found the net again said it all and it capped a good nights work for the Gers. RANGERS: Robinson (Gallacher 82); Hutton (Thomson 67), Svensson (Ehiogu 45), Weir (Papac 45), Murray; Burke, Adam, Rae, Sionko; Sebo, Novo (Buffel 58) Subs: Ferguson

    Get behind them

I am Asking All Rangers fans To Get Behind Walter Smiths Blue And White Army this Weekend. It is time The REAL fans, and the Plg fans started uniting in order that we show a great atmosphere which is hostile towards the opposition again. Good luck lads. P.s i am really hoping Gers get back to the top of the league, but let us all be realistic this time and let Walter have the time he needs to clean the team up. This will NOT happen overnight and everyone needs to realise this. I sat through watching Rangers through the Souness era and then the Smith era(part1) and theres one thing i know is that Walter will bring back the fighting, united spirit we desire and WILL one day be lifting the premier league aloft again.
  13. http://www.gersnet.info/fmrangers/newmain/110107.html First of all I think itââ?¬â?¢s quite important that we keep an element of perspective in this article. Not many Rangers fans like Bain in a personal way and that can often cloud judgement when it comes to the job he does. Martin Bain first joined Rangers in 1996 serving under former commercial manager Bob Reilly. At that time football was in the midst of a commercial explosion; TV money was high even in Scottish football and other opportunities were there to be grasped because of that huge media exposure. As a result, Bain ââ?¬â?? like other members of the commercial team ââ?¬â?? can say he was partly responsible for bringing in the large amounts of money to the club in those heady days. Because of his relatively young age in those days ââ?¬â?? he was 29 when he joined the club ââ?¬â?? Bainââ?¬â?¢s potential was spotted early by the senior staff. Although not having a background in football his good work in the commercial arm helped him secure the (rather vague and general) post of ââ?¬Ë?Director of Football Businessââ?¬â?¢ in late 2002 ââ?¬â?? a year after being appointed to the Rangers board. Of course that season really saw the Rangers financial downsizing begin in earnest. Although Mikel Arteta joined the club for a near Ã?£6million, Rangers fans started to see the influx of below average Bosman players such as Kevin Muscat ââ?¬Ë?complimentââ?¬â?¢ the squad. Alex McLeish was the manager and it was soon obvious that he, and Bain to be fair, would have a difficult job on their hands delivering success to the restraints of a club trying to ship excess baggage to attain an even financial keel. To that end, they were reasonably successful. McLeish delivered 7 trophies and Martin Bain made some difficult decisions to ensure Rangers (as of their 2005/06 accounts) were back almost into the black. Of course both still suffered for their thankless work. McLeish couldnââ?¬â?¢t achieve real consistency, and, as the Ibrox Scrooge, Bain was the ultimate supportersââ?¬â?¢ scapegoat of an unimaginative board and a chairman who had disappeared for a few years and lacked the ambition of his initial spell. In February 2005, nine years after his first arrival at Ibrox, Bain was appointed Rangersââ?¬â?¢ 4th Chief Executive. David Holmes was the first such employee and no-one can forget the club-changing work he did under the Marlborough administration. Since then, the club has had another 2 such CEOââ?¬â?¢s - Alan Montgomery and Bob Brannan (now the chairman of Dundee). Both perhaps had it easier than Bain working in less stressful times. Unfortunately, it was around this time that Bain was starting to make mistakes that this high-profile job couldnââ?¬â?¢t afford. Dragan Mladenovic, Jose Pierre-Fanfan and Olivier Bernard were just 3 examples of players that had to be paid off their lucrative contracts. Meanwhile rumours of staff fall-outs were rife. Retail director Nick Peel, long time club secretary Campbell Ogilvie and Youth manager George Adams were all moved on in quick succession amid rumours of disagreements with Bain. In more recent times, Bain has also been seen as incompetent in other areas. On holiday in the Alps while Paul le Guen and Barry Ferguson had their much publicised fall out and failing to get any sort of fee for players on the transfer list. Bainââ?¬â?¢s biggest detractors point to the success of Celtic and specifically their CEO ââ?¬â?? Peter Lawwel ââ?¬â?? as the main evidence for his failure. Continuing and unacceptable media problems, continued transfer market underperformance and continued poor relationships with his staff and our fans are all a marked contrast to Lawwel ââ?¬â?? who has to operate under the same financial restrictions and in the same market as Bain. In the last year we have seen 2 managers sacked from Rangers. The last 2 seasons have also delivered no trophies to our club. That is wholly unacceptable and that underperformance can be attributed to the mistakes and incompetence of Martin Bain. Sure, could be argued that, in the same way as the departing managers, he has suffered from a lack of backing from a chairman who seems to lack the fight and ambition for the challenges we face. However, our now infecund owner canââ?¬â?¢t be sacked which leaves the right hand man he groomed for the job. Mistakes have been rife and success has disappeared. Martin Bain should no longer be the Rangers Chief Executive. Now, is the time to make that change.
  14. A friend of mine (a poster from this board) rang me today to see if I fancied going down to Ibrox to se WS being unveiled. Being a lazy student, with no classes today I agreed. Despite warning my mate that I didn't beleive he would be at Ibrox. (Needed to pick up a top from the Club shop anyway so didn't mind). Anyway we waited outside in the relative cold for a good hour, from about 14.50. An old boy in a club tie/blazer regulalry came out to chat to the fans and let them know what was going on. We were stood too far awya to know what was going on, but if the people being spoken to where hanging about then we assumed it woldn't be long. Anyway asked a fellow fan and he confirmed WS would be on his way after Murray Park's media scrum. After aproximately an hour, Lawrence McIntyre (at least I think it was him) came out to give us the news that all business was to be completed at Murray Park. I was a bit miffed by this, but the McIntrye asked if we'd all been on the tour before inivting us all into the stadium to go out through the tunnel. Well I've never been on the tour so getting to go in through the front door, seeing the inside of Ibrox, going out through the tunnel, sitting on the home bench and having my picture taken where the media do post match interviews.... loved it. just wanted to say that maybe LM isn't as bad as all make out. You can only go on your own experiences and from mine he was a decent bloke. Had a wee joke on the pitch that we couldn't tell anyone or we'd ruin his reputation. Far play to the guy. He has a sense of humour too. Also one fan asked him if it was true the Hapoel tel-aviv game would be played in Cyprus to which LM confirmed probably after he "kicked up hell at the meeting on monday". (Not a direct quote but words to that effect). Good on him again, actuallly protecting the Rangers fans for once, despite previous form of which I do not know about.
  15. Ok Murray has quite fairly taken a lot of criticism but thinking about our managerial hirings and "firings" it really does seem he listens to the fans. When GS left SDM tried to keep him, and insisted it was the biggest mistake of his life. The fans were also sorry to see him go and wanted him to say. He appointed WS as manager which although wasn't the most exciting thing for the fans, it had continuity and after he won the treble and did well in Europe the fans were happy. He got rid of WS when the fans weren't happy about Euro results despite being on very good term with him. We were spoiled with domestic success and gave WS a lot of criticism and most thought it was a good time for him to move on especially as the team was stagnating and WS looked a bit jaded with the job. He then brought us the big name that we craved, DA, who looked like he could do well in Europe and the difference was night and day in that arena although we always looked like we just needed a couple more quality players to actually do something. That's what we craved and that's what SDM provided but unfortunately it was from borrowed money and he didn't keep a good eye on the finances. DA was very successful to start but the more he didn't quite make it the more desperate he got before losing the dressing room. After a barren season and things looking bleak we started to want rid of DA and lo and behold he was punted upstairs by SDM and replaced with what many fans wanted: A promising Scottish manager who knew all about Rangers. We really wanted a bigger name but we didn't realise the extend of the debt but he is still liked by many fans. He was SDA's third manager to be instantly successful and the third manager to completely peter out and give us a barren season. We became so dire that there was a clamour to replace him from the fans and although SDM backed him, to be fair it was only because he had already lined up his replacement but had to wait on him. PLG was another dream ticket for the Rangers fans who lapped it up again, another masterstroke. The fact it didn't work out is more down to PLG than SDM and you can't blame the chairman for that choice. But the fans reacted again and so did Murray, this time immediately and now he's bringing in his 5th dream ticket in a row. We all respect WS and believe he's improved as he's shown with Scotland and we love AMC and would like to see him as a future Rangers manager. We again want a Scottish influence who are Rangers men and we've got it. So you can't fault SDM for getting rid when the fans wanted it and bringing in very popular choices. It looks like the fans do have power after all, or maybe DM is actually a bit of a fan too, or perhaps he just thinks the same as us, or alternatively he wants to be seen as some kind of hero but spoils it all with his bullshit, bad chairmanship in other ways like not allowing fan representation on the board, and many other faults.

    Sebo.

I have a funny feeling that he will prove his worth on Saturday. It's all set up for him. He has been slagged in the press, by his own fans and also by a so called Rangers legend for his appearance. I feel that its in the script for him to get the winner on Saturday and then who knows against Celtic. He has been god awful and I cringe sometimes at him but he is still young, moved to a new country, has a large transfer fee on his head and its so hard to make your mark on a game coming off the bench. Now with Boyd out for the rest of the year, he should be due a start or two and he has to prove his worth or it will be straight back to the bench. He has all the right attributes for a modern day striker (pace, power) apart from a decent first touch and has to fine tune some of his positioning but he can only learn from Paul Le Guen. What is also dissapointing is how Le Guen or any other Rangers player has not come out and defended Sebo either in the press. We should be sticking together and someone should be building his confidence up. A word of support in public from the manager or the captain would probably do him the world of good. If you have a look on youtube etc, there is a game he played for Slovakia (okay, it was against Malta) and he scored a Hat-Trick and took his 3rd extremely well. So, he might now have his chance to win some of the support round come Saturday and he should have the fire in his belly come 3pm and come out like a dog fighting and want to give the "finger" to all the people who have already written him off.

    A Wee Rant

Enough To Drive You To Drink Well, the rejuvenated Rangers didnââ?¬â?¢t last long as we were back to our bad old ways at Falkirk on Sunday. Serious questions need to be asked as to what direction the club is going in, and whilst the manager and players have a responsibility in this, the buck stops with Mr Murray and surely even his staunchest supports must start to question his desire to take Rangers back to the summit of domestic football and a force to be reckoned with in Europe. What actually scares me the most is that some Rangers fans donââ?¬â?¢t realise, or wonââ?¬â?¢t admit just how far behind our bitter rivals (on and off the pitch) we actually are. At a time where they have qualified (with a game to spare) for the knock out stages of the CL, are running away with the domestic title and signing players (Graveson and Vinegar of Castlemilk) we can only dream about, we are watching what could be the worst Rangers team in over a quarter of a century, with little or no sign of improvement. If we are honest, we have been in decline for around 5-6 years, only 2 last day victories (oh how we enjoyed them right enough) saved us from facing a Craptic team going for 6-7 in a row. They have a Chairman who is actively promoting their brand image and actively pursuing new financial avenues and new prospective leagues to be involved in (this may all be pie in the sky, but the c*nt is never out of the papers blowing their trumpet). Meanwhile, we have a ââ?¬Ë?custodianââ?¬â?¢ who wonââ?¬â?¢t even defend our traditions or our fans, never mind promote the Rangers brand. I donââ?¬â?¢t think that we have ever been so negatively portrayed in the media as we are at the moment, and that is all down to David Murrayââ?¬â?¢s refusal to stand up to our enemies. Our public image is at an all time low, we are never ââ?¬Ë?talked upââ?¬â?¢ on national TV unlike the sons of Satan who have all on sundry talking them up and the likes of Rod Stewart to The Fruitellies declaring their love for ââ?¬Ë?ra hoopsââ?¬â?¢ at every opportunity. That has given them a march on the ââ?¬Ë?English marketââ?¬â?¢ and we are falling way behind them in that respect. We can not survive on ââ?¬Ë?Scottish supportââ?¬â?¢ alone and this needs to be readdressed as soon as possible. In all honesty, do you think we are an attractive proposition for people to support at the moment? IMO, the only fans we are likely to attract are those who come from a ââ?¬Ë?Rangers familyââ?¬â?¢ ââ?¬â?? yes, we need these fans, but we also need to be attractive to the ââ?¬Ë?neutralââ?¬â?¢ and we arenââ?¬â?¢t at the moment. Critical Christmas We are now approaching a critical time of the season where we will face teams that are close to us and if we are to take any positives from this season, we must come through this period (from today until New Years Day) winning ALL the games we play. We start with the visit of Hibs who are playing brilliantly at the moment and are breathing down our necks. Next up, we face Craptic at Ibrox in a game we MUST win. Then, we have trips to Abergreen and Inverness followed by a busy New Year period. If we can come out of this with 6 victories, we will have at least, cemented 2nd place in the league. However, if we drop any more points during this period, it is debateable if we will have European football to look forward to next season. Bleak Future All in all, it all adds up to a very bleak future for Rangers and us the supporters and I canââ?¬â?¢t see anything changing for the positive until David Murray sells up and ships out. He has shown that whilst we are ââ?¬Ë?up for saleââ?¬â?¢ there will be little or no investment in the squad and youth development and no effort put in to promoting Rangers FC and defending us the fans from the continual onslaught from the press, politicians and UEFA (who all clearly have an agenda). So what can we do? Very little unless we galvanise and make a concerted effort in getting Murray to act sooner rather than later. However, the demonstrations and the reactions to them from the majority of the Rangers fans shows that for some reason, David Murray has the support of the majority of the Rangers support. If this doesnââ?¬â?¢t change and change soon, we are in for a bleak(er) future which will see is fall into the shadow of our bitterest rivals. Cammy F ââ?¬â?? We Are The Peopleââ?¬Â¦.

  20. Was in the Sun today saying that the only reason Rangers fans reported him to the police was because Rangers fans because our team was crap... So, nothing to do with the inflamatory gestures, goading of the fans etc. Also, the article was quoted as saying Nil By Mouth would not comment as Boruc had not been charged with a sectarian offence. We've come to expect no less from that shower.

  22. I make no apoligies for requoting this great post from the Gub on FF. There may be many detractors of the way demonstrations are handled etc, and there is a fairly wide held belief that dismisses any kind of protest as the work of cranks, FF radicals etc etc. The fact is, it isnt. The following gives, for me, a perfectly correct valid and true summation of the last few weeks of the way the club has handled some affairs. It doesnt include the lack of defence of the support or the club from paper attacks (like the Papish Nazi park invader etc) but gives a flavour. It is based on facts and facts alone. People need to understand that these "cranks" that have been subjected to all sorts over the last few weeks, have been living and breathing these facts for quite a while...anyway, enough rambling from me... "How much lower can we actually go? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To say the last fortnight following the fortunes of our club has been something of a trial is to understate the point. First off a yahoo scumbag with a Hitler Youth t-shirt was allowed to run some 100 yards from his seat in the East Enclosure to the goal at the Broomloan end without so much as a ââ?¬Ë?Hey were do you think youââ?¬â?¢re going sunshine.ââ?¬â?¢ If nothing else it does highlight the quality of our security and the hired goon in charge of it. Then there was a defeat to the crap at the bottom of the table after getting a goal of a start. And of course the first time in our 134 year history that a side from a lower division knocked us out of a cup competition at home. Ouch, ouch and thrice ouch. However that is the good bits. Last Monday I was informed of the death of Bobby Shearer, a Rangers great. A true blue, 100% died, in the wool Ranger and lifelong bluenose. Sad as Mr Shearerââ?¬â?¢s passing was, it was common knowledge that he had been ill for a time. The people running our club however took a sad song and made it worse, much much worse. They caved in to west of Scotland yahooery and told us that there would be a minuteââ?¬â?¢s ââ?¬Ë?applauseââ?¬â?¢ at Ibrox before the League Cup tie that (last) Wednesday. Truly nauseating; ONE-HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FOUR years of tradition wiped out in a heartbeat. Itââ?¬â?¢s the way of the world the club told fans who mailed or phoned up to complain. One Rangers fan I know was told ON the Monday afternoon by a club spokesman after complaining, that the club came to the decision of a minuteââ?¬â?¢s applause after consulting with a few ââ?¬Ë?former captains.ââ?¬â?¢ How do I know this? Well, because I was in his company and he was actually on the phone and I saw his reaction as the conversation ended. Another good Rangers fan and respected poster I know got a hold of Sandy Jardine again on the Monday afternoon and was told by our former player that ââ?¬Ë?Traditions changeââ?¬â?¢. That is TWO different reasons/excuses given by the club on the same day. I have saved the worst for last. Again last Monday afternoon, another well kent and respected Rangers fan on this site got through to Sandy Jardine and he was told that the reason that there would not be a minuteââ?¬â?¢s silence was because (wait till you hear this one) Rangers fans reacted badly to Aberdeen fans when they booed the minuteââ?¬â?¢s silence for George Young at Ibrox back in January 1997. Rangers fans reacting badly to the actions of a motley shower of filth is the reason why the club were going to have a minuteââ?¬â?¢s applause for Bobby Shearer? You just couldnââ?¬â?¢t make it up. Not only was this excuse beyond the pale, it was lies pure and simple. If Rangers fans reacting to Dolly was a catalyst within the club back in 1997 to change our stance on minuteââ?¬â?¢s silences, then Why a minuteââ?¬â?¢s silence for Diana later in 1997? Why a minuteââ?¬â?¢s silence for the victims of Omagh in 1998? Why a minuteââ?¬â?¢s silence for Jim Baxter in 2001? Why a minuteââ?¬â?¢s silence for the victims of 9/11, also in 2001? Why a minuteââ?¬â?¢s silence for Bobby Murdoch on 2002? How many lies did we get last Monday? 1 ââ?¬â?? The former captains made the decision. 2 ââ?¬â?? Traditions change and aââ?¬â?¢ that 3 ââ?¬â?? It was Rangers fans fault for being unchuffed with Dolly Does anyone still want to argue that the minuteââ?¬â?¢s applause for Bobby Shearer was at the ââ?¬Ë?behestââ?¬â?¢ of his family? Last week, the club I love hit the gutter and looking up at the stars was and is not on the agenda. Letââ?¬â?¢s see now; Manipulating a family in mourning to make sure the managementââ?¬â?¢s pathetic cop out regards a minuteââ?¬â?¢s applause was bulldozed through last Wednesday The clubââ?¬â?¢s official website praising fans that were happy to wreak violence on fellow Rangers fans on Saturday The worst part of all of course is that there will be Rangers fans on here reading this that would rather wish and hope I was telling lies rather than confront the awful truth as to the levels David Murray and the incompetent shower of ne'erdowells he employs at Ibrox are dragging us down to. Yours, With a heavy, heavy heart."
  23. Firstly, I think itââ?¬â?¢s important that I should say that Iââ?¬â?¢d still consider myself reasonably neutral when it comes to the position and record of David Murray. Nevertheless, this Rangers fan has been rather vocal recently with regard to who it holds responsible for our clubs current woes and it was reasonably pleasing to see Murray return to the limelight last week and attempt to address our concerns. What too many people forget is that Murray isnââ?¬â?¢t daft. He may have made mistakes lately in several areas but heââ?¬â?¢s been clever in the way he covers his tracks. By waiting so long to speak out he essentially let his new management team shoulder the burden alone for the poor results. Not unreasonable given their errors but Iââ?¬â?¢m sure PLG and Yves Colleau would have preferred some backing a wee bit earlier. Next, we hear the chairman has personally visited the players and told them performances are unacceptable. Again, they could hardly complain at this censure but itââ?¬â?¢s further clever sleight of hand to remove the attention from the some annoyed fansââ?¬â?¢ focal point. Fridayââ?¬â?¢s interview then gave the chairman the opportunity to defend his position even more. Why should he be to blame? Heââ?¬â?¢s only ensuring we remain fiscally prudent; the club canââ?¬â?¢t afford to spend serious money any more; we need to stick together; heââ?¬â?¢s hurting just as much; he wonââ?¬â?¢t sell to any prospective buyer; heââ?¬â?¢s still the right man for the job. No admission of mistakes then ââ?¬â?? just a man absolving himself of blame and preserving his infallibility amongst the adoring majority. In some ways heââ?¬â?¢s correct ââ?¬â?? but in others he fails to answer the questions many fans still have. Of course we have to be careful in how we spend our money. After all it was the chairmanââ?¬â?¢s mistakes of years past that led (in part) to our downsizing in many areas. That was necessary but just because we need to be prudent with our money doesnââ?¬â?¢t mean we need to downsize our ambitions for the future. In addition by asking for patience until January (and next May) he has again bought time from fans that have already waited long enough for signs of improvement on and off the pitch. We canââ?¬â?¢t afford another 3rd place finish while he finds the right blend of fiscal responsibility and player capability. I do agree with the chairman in that we need to stick together. However, that goes both ways and defence from the regime has been sadly lacking as the fans (and club generally) still take flak from all sides. Our manager was even disgracefully called a ââ?¬Ë?hunââ?¬â?¢ in one tabloid yesterday without official comment from the club. Just as disappointing was a statement on our own official site giving credence to aggressive behaviour from a number of fans who ââ?¬Ë?overpoweredââ?¬â?¢ a small protest against the Murray administration which resulted in a banner being ripped and angry words being exchanged between the opposing groups. Itââ?¬â?¢s a shame that the Murray propaganda machine is so quick to applaud his backers acting so aggressively but is posted missing when his own manager is spat upon by Celtic fans or described in derogatory terms in newspapers. Unfortunately, while our club continues to under-achieve in so many areas, there will always be disagreement between the fans as to who is the cause of any problems. Murray is the easy answer but he's by no means the only cause and itââ?¬â?¢s difficult to directly blame him for lacklustre player performances and a manager struggling to adapt to a pacey and physical Premier League. As such, I'm unsure that direct ââ?¬Ë?Murray Must Goââ?¬â?¢ protests are the answer at this point in time. Yes, results have been poor and yes, current board strategy is questionable but until Murray finds a buyer, he's not going to be going anywhere any time soon. After all, he can hardly be sacked and with the club worth around Ã?£40-60million heââ?¬â?¢s not going to just walk away. In my opinion itââ?¬â?¢s best for the unhappy fans to channel their frustration into more positive avenues of protest so Iââ?¬â?¢d urge every fan to consider joining the Rangers Supportersââ?¬â?¢ Trust. Although they, like this article, are neither pro/anti-Murray they do care passionately about our club. Indeed, if it wasnââ?¬â?¢t for their pressurisation in midweek Murray wouldnââ?¬â?¢t have emerged from his Charlotte Square bunker and (albeit with the help of many other bears) we might not have seen an apology from ââ?¬Ë?The Sunââ?¬â?¢ regarding the Paul Le Guen fiasco. The RST certainly isnââ?¬â?¢t for everyone and thatââ?¬â?¢s perfectly fine. Not everyone agrees with their main ethos of fan participation/ownership while certain aspects of their strategy are not ââ?¬Ë?militantââ?¬â?¢ (or indeed ââ?¬Ë?too militantââ?¬â?¢) for some. What they do give though is genuine independent and democratic representation for Rangers fans. So much so, that the club now meets with them ahead of their own Assembly which simply doesnââ?¬â?¢t offer the same wide-ranging and positive resources of the Trust. The unique ââ?¬Ë?GerSaveââ?¬â?¢ initiative provides one way of raising new money for the club and has been backed by many fans and ex-players already. To conclude I think it is time the fans use the RST to channel their frustration while we find and fix our problems. Unfortunately, until one man admits his part in said problems and actually attempts to address this, along with the fans, further division may not be far away. If that does happen, the manager and the players wonââ?¬â?¢t be to blame and the spotlight will again return to the top of the tree.
  24. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/news/2006/101106b.html 10 November 2006 RST Condemn 'The Sun' Newspaper 'The Sun' Newspaper today printed a picture of Paul Le Guen under the headline ââ?¬Ë?The Shakiest Hun in the Westââ?¬â?¢. The RST unreservedly condemn the use of this offensive and sectarian insult. It is also especially insensitive that 'The Sun' chose to use this in the week of Remembrance Day. Once again, it seems that while Rangers fans are condemned for using terminology others find offensive, terms Rangers fans find offensive are considered acceptable. The RST call on 'The Sun' to apologise. We also suggest our members contact the Sun to register their disgust: scottishsunletters@the-sun.co.uk
  25. It sure as hell feels like it round here, FF and rangers fans in general. Can't believe some of you lot, love me or hate me i'm just telling it like it is. Can somebody please hand me a flame proof jacket?
