Owner Craig Whyte has opened talks with the trio about extending their contracts and McCoist has admitted the feedback from the players has been positive. McCoist still hasnââ?¬â?¢t given up hope on getting defender Madjid Bougherra to stay at the club beyond next summer. The Ibrox manager said: ââ?¬Å?I have been away taking in a few games and havenââ?¬â?¢t been able to talk to Mr Whyte yet. ââ?¬Å?I am due to meet with Mr Whyte when I get back and I will have a clearer idea of things after we have that meeting. I havenââ?¬â?¢t spoken to him any further about signings or any of the ongoing discussions. ââ?¬Å?On the contract front, I have spoken to a few of the boys and the feedback on the talks has been positive. He will have to wait to find out if captain Davie Weir will agree to play on for another year at Ibrox. McCoist still wants to bring in another defender and, as Express Sport revealed, his top target is Arsenalââ?¬â?¢s Kyle Bartley. He has also been offered Danny Wilson back on loan from Liverpool and Groningen defender Andreas Granqvist. They are seen as alternatives should they fail to land the young Gunner. Interest in former Lazio defender Emilson Cribari has now been dropped. Dundee Unitedââ?¬â?¢s David Goodwillie remains his top striking target but that will depend on the outcome of the playerââ?¬â?¢s ongoing court case. SunSport can reveal the ambitious Turkish outfit - who already have former Ibrox striker Kenny Miller on their books - swooped for Whitty but had the offer immediately rejected. Gers want to hold on to the versatile 26-year-old Scotland star and have told Bursa that he is NOT for sale. But it's believed that Whittaker IS interested in the move, with the Ibrox club told to expect another bid. Bursa lured Miller in January with a mega-bucks offer and they're desperate to do the same with his international team-mate as boss Ertugrul Saglam looks to rebuild his squad. Whittaker earns around �£8,000 a week at Ibrox. But Bursa are prepared to table an offer which could see him earn more than TREBLE that amount with �£25,000 a week. New Gers boss Ally McCoist is determined to do all he can to keep the former Hibs ace. He held talks with him four days ago to make it clear he is a key part of his plans. Nono ... this is taken from a Dutch paper, perhaps going by the same name (or taking it from its German sister). I for one wouldn't be surprised to read something like "according to reports in Scotland" in those "news from" Germany. Haven't come accross anything yet. Given Jelavic, Lafferty (and probably Naismith) are arguably our first choice strikers then I'd rather we kept the bulk of the cash we have for a new defender.
