BBC Stu in Durrant joke row

Recommended Posts

RADIO pundit Stuart Cosgrove last night sparked a new BBC row with Rangers when he JOKED about the horror injury that nearly ended Ibrox legend Ian Durrant's career.

Off The Ball presenter Cosgrove was discussing possible names for Aberdeen's new £40million stadium which were unacceptable. He said: "The Ian Durrant Stadium â?? something like that?"

Durrant was put out of the game for nearly three years following a sickening tackle by Dons defender Neil Simpson in October 1988.

A Rangers source said the comment was "crass in the extreme".

The BBC has been banned from Ibrox after a programme about club owner Craig Whyte.

A BBC Scotland spokesman said: "We have received complaints."

I really don't know how guys like Cosgrove, Chick Young etc actually get/have jobs as they are terrible at what they do. What Cosgrove said doesn't surprise me he always has been a total prat and very biased.

Old bhoys network. (anyone who has shown open hostility towards Rangers)

Crass about covers it.

Problem is, these people know they'll get away with such comments. In fact, they're encouraged to make them.

I think the ironic thing is that the "Famine" song was at worst a bit crass but look at the furore the media made of it...

The joke was fair enough in private but to lecture fans and viewers on crass behaviour and then publicise such poor taste on national tv, should really be a severe disciplinary offence. After all they hounded Dallas out of a job for more private joke.

Who encourages them?

Wasn't Cosgrove a self-proclaimed football hooligan?

Is this the same Chick Young who's been laughed at for years for pretending to be a St Mirren fan while he really supports Rangers?

While I will admit all is not well in the media at the moment (when is it ever tbh) certain people are just sounding more and more laughable with their paranoid comments.
