Gazza_8 233 Posted December 25, 2011 Share Posted December 25, 2011 QPR boss Neil Warnock’s bid to sign Croatian striker Nikica Jelavic has been given a massive boost. Scottish giants Rangers have given an agent the rights to sell him for £10million. Football Spy revealed that Warnock is keen to land the highly-rated hit-man, who will be sold by financially-strapped Rangers for the right price. Now the Scottish Premier League leaders have issued a mandate to an English-based agency, who have tried to find buyers for him – with QPR top of the list. Sunderland are also interested, while Liverpool have asked to be kept informed as they may be looking for striker cover. Most of the Premier League clubs would rather sign Jelavic for less than the fixed fee, but QPR seem set to make the biggest bid and want the forward into the club as soon as the window opens. Warnock is also keen on bringing in Ghana keeper Adam Kwarasey. Kwarasey, 24, is currently at Norwegian club Stromsgodset but is ready to move after catching the eye in recent times. I would think he will go if we are offered anything from £8m. johnnyk 158 Posted December 26, 2011 Share Posted December 26, 2011 I would like him to stay but he's missed/missing lots of easy important chances this season in Europe and the SPL. If we don't play to his strengths maybe it's better getting the big money now and buying 2, 3 or more players which will help us all round the team. Ortiz, Wallace, Aluko, Goian, Bocanegra ... yep, you might have no point. Or do you mean those we acquired as - by common board opinion - as squad players? As for Jelavic, I don't know whether he would want to go to QPR if Liverpool has shown interest. In any case, I would hope that if he goes it will be sooner rather than later, so we have enough time to get replacements (!) in. As I said somewhere else, imagine he goes for 9m and we sign up three freebies like O'Connor, Boyd, and "worst of the lot" Riordan! 90% of the boards would be empty, as the members would have vanished into orbit ... BTW, I do think that while most talk is about Jelavic, we may also receive bids for Davis (AV) and Whittaker (Fulham) again. And as much as it hurts to say, for all their importance to the team, all three of them have played sub-their-own-standard this season. While you can accept some rustiness during the early stages of the campaign, we are now 20 matchdays into the season and they show no improvement whatsoever. And rest assured, I will be happy to eat my words come May, should these folk actually get their act together and deliver what they are capable of.
