Doubt we'll be good enough for Europe next season BH. I liken our European exploits thus far under Ally to those under Walter following 92/93.

What I mean is, if we make even the Europa group stage next season I'll be shocked and pleased.

Looks a decent player with goals "through the middle" and at close range, and a very sweet turn from the throw in.

BUT this is second division stuff, is that the best we can do, probably YES, if at all.

Most likely would score goals against SPL outfits but in Europe?

In fairness to the Spanish second tier there's teams in that league that would thrash most of the teams in the SPL. You're talking about the Spanish equivalent of the English "Championship". Barca and Villareal have their B teams playing in it and there's some relatively big clubs playing in it too.

There's only TWO teams in Spain...wee bit like the SPL. Brechin City or Forfar Athletic would give most 3rd tier Spanish teams a shagging.

Almost every team in La Liga would beat all the teams in the SPL.

Just because only Barca or Madrid will win the league every year doesnt make it a comparable league.

Is it wise to spend a couple of million pounds on someone who is getting on a bit and won't have much of a resale value?

It's a good question, but the fact that our supposed interest in the player is so public now means that there's going to be more interest in him from other clubs, especially clubs down south, so it probably doesn't matter.

If we really wanted the player in the first place and were in a position to buy him we should have started making bids for him instead of going public with our interest without actually doing anything about it. As Gers4Life says, it just makes the club look like fools. You either want a player and try to buy and sign him or you keep your bloody mouth shut. All this bullshitting (which the club did a fair amount of in the summer too) is just a complete embarrassment.
