Ally McCoist has catapulted himself up into the upper echelons of Rangers legends

Each and every single player and member of the coaching staff is now a legend to me, no matter of their ability as a coach or player.

The second we went into administration with the threat of going out of existence the rules changed, big time.

Ally McCoist is "my" Bill Struth now (it was Graeme Souness).

We all know as a coach he's made a few strange decisions with questionable tactics. But the work he's done to keep our club alive has been amazing, if it wasn't for Ally's work behind the scenes we might not have a Rangers right now, that fact has bypassed the fools that are slating him now. I would bet my bottom dollar that a lot of the players that took the wage drop wouldn't be there and the club could have gone to the wall. Ally would have been instrumental in persuading them to stay, and the reasons why to stay.

He's also been meeting with potential new owners, we know the kind of character he is, people like him instantly, he knows the club better than anyone and is an intelligent guy. Who ever buys us will no doubt tell us how much Ally impressed them and helped them make the decision to buy us. Another fact missed by the people that hate him.

Right now the football takes a huge second place, each game should be a party in the stands showing the footballing world that we here, we're loud and we love our team. These guys, especially Ally have given me hope that the longest love of my life is going to hang around for a few more centuries, a fact by passed by the people slating Ally. I still find it unbelievable that people are slagging the guy???

The results don't matter and if you think they do you're an absolute disgrace!

What do you want? To win meaningless games or have a club to support in the future? You obviously don't see the bigger picture and are a very selfish individual. I could give two fucks if CFC win at Ibrox next week, so what? We're still the Worlds most successful football club and it's acutely obvious the shadow we cast over them is a lot longer and darker than any of us thought, as i said before, we should be flattered with the venom they're aiming at us, why else would the threat of us going out of business trigger such a twisted outpouring like this? I can't think of anything other than jealousy and twisted logic.

Ally will and should be our manager for the start of next season, he deserves it. No one reading this right now can say what kind of financial state we'll be in, or if we'll be here at all. We could be bought by the BK's and scrimp and scrape and have 5/6 years of mid table until we're stable again. Or we could be bought by someone with money to burn and still be the team to beat in the SPL. Lets hope it's the latter.

If Ally does get money to spend and get the players he wants with out loosing too many player from the current squad, then who knows, he may have learned from his mistakes and improve his tactical know how next season. I hope so, but Ally himself will know he's "on the clock" and will need to come out the blocks flying or else his job will be on the line.

If you're slagging Ally now, keep away from me, your priorities are very very wrong. I see the bigger picture, you don't and you are threatening the very existence of my club.

I want my club to survive, not win meaningless games during this traumatic period of our history.

I agree with everything except the manager for next season Bears. I know it has been tough for him but he has shown me nothing this season to warrant getting another go next season.

I would love to see him stay at Rangers in some capacity because he loves the club as much as us, of course being Super he will probably get another season and prove this big so & so wrong for which I will be eternally grateful.

There's an awful lot of speculative 'facts' in there. And the simple point of winning games may actually help us in our survival, as we get a whole lot less for third place than second.

I've supported Ally all along, but these latest results are very diappointing and I ask myself, if he can't inspire the team to win in this situation, maybe he's not the man.

I'd give him another go, due to all the exceptional circumstances, however, will the new owner?

Hate to point this out...but results DO matter!!! This is a results driven business/sport - if you're not getting results, 9 times out of 10 you get the boot.

I am not convinced of Ally's managerial credentials yet. He has been a rock off the pitch, but there are a lot of questions needing answered on it. IF he is given the chance again next season, I won't complain, but if the off-field situation is sorted, and the on-field stuff isn't then it will be time for him to step down.

I know plenty have called Ally's tactics in to question recently, but the defeat at the weekend, has to be taken with a pinch of salt. The team was down to it's bare bones, barely enough subs to cover. I still think it's unfair to dig into him just now. HE should be given another go at this. With actual board backing. With funds. Without Craig fucking Whyte talking shite in his ear.

To suggest we "move" Ally into a different role is insulting to him and his status at the club.

It's not just as black and white as this thread suggests, I reserve the right to criticise McCoist and/or the players for poor tactics, performance and application despite the challenges and sacrifices that they have faced in recent weeks. That's their job.

To completely right off results and performances goes against the values of our club, granted we've never been through such a bad time off the field but we are a football club and it's the managers job to put out a side he thinks can beat the opposition and I have no doubt Ally has done that however, we face the prospect of losing 4 league games on the spin next week (something that has never happened before IIRC) this is still a concern for me. Had we not had such a commanding lead earlier in the season we could be looking at a bottom 6 finish..or worse.

Ally himself said that results can't be blamed wholly on Administration. It's a big mitigating factor no doubt but if those players were motivated to win in the face of adversity we wouldn't be where are now. On balance though I would be happy to finish the season intact and with McCoist at the helm.

Who is at the helm at the start of season 2012/13 is the big question for me.
