Utterly divided support

Recommended Posts

The Miller bid was not a bona fide Newco bid. It was a very clever way of attempting to get a CVA done while protecting the assets temporarily. Obviously it had a big chance of turning into a liquidation, but the Assembly were prepared to wait and see with Miller's plan due to the serious shortcomings of the alternative, and the fact that there was also a good chance of it working and a liquidation avoided.

There were no calls for protest from the Assembly or Association when Miller was named PB, no asking to email "questions" to Miller, etc. There were questions being asked and answered behind the scenes and they were waiting on the events to become clearer before commenting further.

Something that should have been done elsewhere IMO.

I don't disagree that questions need to be asked of all bidders, but anyone with a partisan view towards/against certain parties won't be interested in listening to the answers given.

My point was that the RST and those with the banners are not even asking questions of TBK.

I've seen derisory bids, media manipulation, cosying up to the RST but little information on TBK's plans.

I'm pretty sure what they are, and I'm sure a lot of others are too, but until they stop getting an easy ride, we won't know for certain til it's too late.

We had a shedload of manipulation from the previous owners and any whiff of it now, puts me right off.

Unlike some however, I'd love to be wrong. My only interest is seeing the club saved, and if TBK can come up with a credible plan to do that they will get my full support.

They do however, seem reticent to discuss how they might go about that.

Have you not just described the RST in a nutshell?

'Clever newco' is a worthy addition to the Rangers takeover glossary. Thanks.

There's one thing we can all agree on I reckon: Spiers is a grade A prick. Hopefully that's not too personal. But anyone who finds the world of internet football forums more extreme than, say, deviant and/or illegal pornographic ones, or ones which teach you to build your own fertiliser bomb, is showing up nothing but his agenda.

None of the bidders have come out with a defined, workable bid. Some of that is to be expected given the way D&P will play one off against the other, but there needs to be a balance between that and keeping the support informed.

This is and always has been my point entirely.

Bill Ng bids: "Who is he? We need to investigate him", screamed the RST.

Bill Miller bids: "Who is he? We need to investigate him", screamed the RST.

Brian Kennedy bids: "You want a Hibby running the club? You couldn't make it up", screamed the RST's most prominent member.

Lifelong banker and ex-RFC director Paul Murray bids: "The fans groups back him", says the RST's self-same most prominent member.

Fascinating to see such blatant self-interest at work.

The RST have never hidden where their preference lay, but to imply it was only them who questioned the motives of the bidders is somewhat disingenuous.

No, the point was that they didn't question TBK's bid.
