Cammy Bell On Wanted list

Recommended Posts

Bell is out of contract in the summer.

From Daily Express:

By Scott Burns

RANGERS manager Ally McCoist is ready to offer a pre-contract to Kilmarnock keeper Cammy Bell â?? but has still to decide whether to make a move for wantaway Aberdeen winger Ryan Fraser.

McCoist was keen to land the Scotland squad keeper in the last transfer window but was forced to prioritise on the last day and, with Neil Alexander already in place, decided to concentrate on deals for Hearts pair David Templeton and Ryan McGowan, although the latter deal fell through.

Bell is out of contract in the summer and Ibrox goalkeeping coach Jim Stewart has backed McCoistâ??s move.

The problem is that Rangers can agree a pre-contract with Bell this month but canâ??t register him until September 1 next year, when their SFA transfer embargo is lifted.

That means if a club offers Bell a contract before then the Gers could lose out.

Killie boss Kenny Shiels has opened talks with the 26-year-old to extent his contract but that looks unlikely.

The problem is that Rangers can agree a pre-contract with Bell this month but can’t register him until September 1 next year, when their SFA transfer embargo is lifted.

That means if a club offers Bell a contract before then the Gers could lose out.

Killie boss Kenny Shiels has opened talks with the 26-year-old to extent his contract but that looks unlikely.

McCoist will talk with his coaching staff to prioritise his pre-contract targets – and he has already been given a list that contains 18-year-old Fraser.

Hearts defender McGowan remains on the list but he is unlikely to want to drop down the divisions, while Killie’s Liam Kelly and Motherwell pair Tom Hateley and Chris Humphrey could also come into consideration, along with Leigh Griffiths.

Fraser turned down a contract at Pittodrie and has told the club he plans to move at the end of the season.

Several of McCoist’s staff have recommended Fraser but the manager hasn’t seen him and has still to make a decision on whether to push ahead with an offer.

They would also need to wait until September for Fraser and pay Aberdeen compensation – just as they did when they signed Sone Aluko from the Dons.

Fraser is also attracting interest from Championship clubs including Huddersfield, and Rangers would need to make their offer more attractive.

But Dons boss Craig Brown – who wants FIFA to bring in new rules to stop big clubs signing top young talent for knockdown prices – would be astonished if Fraser dropped down the divisions to join the Gers.

He said: “I don’t think we should be speculating about where Ryan’s going. I’m not concerned about where he’s going, my only concern is he doesn’t want to sign here.

“That is all we know but if we got an indication why he doesn’t want to sign perhaps we would understand and it would help us in the future.”

Leigh Griffiths? A bit of a plonker but scores goals.

By the looks of it, they assemble a list of freebies and link them to us. I always find it funny when they whip up stuff like ...

As if they would know what McCoist thinks or has decided.

What about Neil, am I missing out on someting?

McCoist said that he wanted a capable deputy for Alexander and giving Gallagher some more experience, i.e. loaning him out. He had a few in mind, but due to time and no free slots in the registry (since we still had/have some of the renegades in there) we did not pursue any keeper-deals and went for non-goalies.

Give us some really good substitute for Bell then. Someone we can afford, someone who wants to come. Just to get a measure of your standards in this case.

is bell now our limit? is he the height of our ambitions now? celtic have an england squad member and we have bell? really? lol we will forever be playing second fiddle to them if he is the level we are looking at. it will be yet another dud if ally has had any say on the matter, most of his tend to be wastes of money.

Don't kid yourself or let Celtic supporters kid you. Forster is an average GK who's had a couple of decent games against Barca. Bearing in mind, a lot of the Barca shots were in about his body. An England squad member? Only because the others are injured.

Bell is a good keeper who wouldn't command a high wage and also has plenty of experience. We could do a whole lot worse.
