Transfer rumours: Andre Bikey, Bell, Daly, Law, and ... Zaliukas

Recommended Posts

Can't believe we're getting hit with all this stuff in public at the beginning of March. Now till September is going to seem like a bloody eternity at this rate.

Keep our "interest" in players quiet please or else wake me up in September FFS!

It is a lot better than talking about tax cases, EBT's, administration, Liquidation, the Blue Knights, Duff and Phelps etc.

Talking about football and signing players for next season is a breath of fresh air imo, even although it is 99% bullshit.

ahhh...remember when it always used to be like this? The days when buying a million pound player meant buying a back-up to a squad player?

Rangers have targeted a move for Mexican forward Alan Pulido, STV understands.

The 22-year-old, who currently plays with Tigres in his homeland, can play as a striker or on the wing.

Pulido has been the subject of positive reports from Ibrox chief scout Neil Murray.

Capped at under-20 and under-23 levels, Rangers would face stiff competition for the forward who is being tipped as the next Javier Hernandez in his homeland.

Pulidoâ??s contract with the Mexican Premier League side runs until December this year.

Rangers are currently banned from registering new players until September 1, the day after the summer transfer window closes.

Earlier this week, Rangers boss Ally McCoist revealed Jon Daly, Nicky Law and Andre Bikey are on a list of transfer targets for next season.

As McCoist aims to strengthen for next season, the club are also interested in Honduran international Arnold Peralta.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder captains Vida in his homeland but is a free agent in the summer.

Peralta played in Glasgow last year as part of his countryâ??s Olympic squad and has also attracted interest from MLS side Toronto.

Now a Mexican under 20 and 23 international is the sort of player that would excite me, as the mexicans are a quality side, very technical and skillful. However I dont have much confidence in Neil Murray. Then again to put another negative side on it any skillful player in the past seems to come then leave pretty quickly like the spanish kid Aaron. Whether that be they arent good enough or if our tactics and style isnt good enough for them is another argument.

Rangers should snap up Fir Park freebies

9 Mar 2013 08:38

AS Rangers aim to strengthen their squad Mark Hateley believes Ally McCoist should look no further than Motherwell to add some bargains to the team.

RANGERS are on the lookout for quality players whose contracts expire at the end of the season.

And, for me, they don’t have to look any further than down the M74 motorway to Fir Park.

I don’t wish to offload Motherwell’s entire team to Ibrox but it’s been well documented that a number of their top players will be available this summer.

I’ve watched a lot of the Steelmen as I keep an eye on my son, Tom, and Stuart McCall has done a great job there. It’s tragic that he’ll lose a large chunk of his squad for nothing.

But the situation Ally McCoist is in at Ibrox, unable to register players until September 1, he could do a lot worse than entice some of McCall’s star men to Govan.

He’s already been linked with Nicky Law and Chris Humphrey and he’s right to go after them. In fact, I reckon there are at least six Fir Park players Alistair should be looking at.

They are decent players at Well and the best thing is they could have an excellent sell-on value for Rangers in a few years.

Another is the keeper, Darren Randolph. He’s only 25 years old, is on the verge of the Republic of Ireland side and is going to become a top goalie.

He, along with the rest of the Motherwell squad, isn’t on big wages either so for what Rangers are after, they would be ideal summer signings.

Law and Humphrey previously plied their trade in England’s lower leagues, against hammer throwers, so they would handle the Scottish Second Division no problem at all.

The same goes for another SPL player Alistair is interested in – Jon Daly at Dundee United.

When you look back at the great sides, they all had a good spine. Keeper, centre-half, central midfield and centre-forward.

Right now Rangers just don’t have that.

Daly’s age is a negative and his sell-on value is non-existent but the big positive in signing him would be that he can play centre-half and striker. Where Rangers are right now, that type of player could be invaluable.

Daly’s been a revelation in the last three or four years with United. He also bullied Rangers in the Scottish Cup a few weeks ago – but that isn’t too difficult because of that lack of spine.

He’s a big character and Rangers are missing that. Daly does what it says it on the tin. He holds the ball up and gets people playing in and around him.

Rangers are involved in combative football every week in the SFL so, in that sense, Daly fits the bill.

Alistair signed a few guys with SPL experience last summer and they have under-performed. The players would admit that.

In terms of quality, it’s been inconsistent from Rangers this season. And with the standard of player they have at the moment, that was to be expected.

That’s why Charles Green branded the current Rangers side the worst in the club’s history this week. He’s probably right.

It is one of the poorest sides Rangers have had in recent history. It’s certainly the worst I can remember.

Right now, Rangers are a top-flight club but a Third Division football team.

The standard of player the club’s supporters have had to watch this season has been the poorest in a long time. Even Alistair would agree with that.

But he’s been hamstrung by the transfer embargo. That’s about to end shortly and only then can the manager really be judged.

IMO it has to be 2 years deals to get us up to the top flight with an option of 3rd year deal. The impressive ones can then fight for extended contracts.

before we sign anyone CG needs to decide who he wants as Rangers manager next season. No point in allowing Ally to sign players and we end up with the same standard of performances next season then it becomes necessary to get a new manager who inherits all Ally's duds.
