Was watching Australia vs Oman last night and noticed PLG is now in charge of Oman. They were 2-0 up on Australia before a come back to level and finish it at 2-2. Still an amazing result for Oman.

Just wondering what everyones thoughts on PLG are now what with our current coaching set up.

PLG came in and didn't take any shit ala Ricksen. He identified there was a drinking culture at Ibrox and that a core of players were ruling the roost.

He also had the right idea on fitness and it clearly seems we are not at the levels required. We are a professional club performing like amateurs.

I know some folks on here think we got shot of PLG far to quickly so how does everyone else think now?

We started playing the best football under PLG since Advocaat, yet while we got a few poor results and dropped behind Celtic you could clearly see what PLG was trying to do throughout the team, compare that to today and we are getting poor results, performances with no picture at all of what AM is trying to do.

We will never know if PLG with time would have turned us around , he wasn't given it and the dressing room was gone due to Barry.

We were playing good football until Ferguson returned from injury it was only then that the wheels started coming off the wagon. Personally I hope Ferguson and Boyd never ever return to Ibrox in any working capacity.

I think that many are looking back on PLG with rose tinted glasses. There were a lot of bad results and a lot of bad performances. What was it? 5 wins in our first 13 league games? Knocked out of the League Cup by a first division club.

Defensively we didn't have a clue and PLG refused to take action to strengthen the defence. Most of his buys didn't work. Yes, there were a few good performances (Motherwell away, Falkirk and Hibs at home spring to mind) but there many more ones that were not so good.

As for us playing well until Ferguson returned from injury, 2 wins from 5 games?

He didn't appear to have the character to deal with the strong personalities and I don't believe that we would have had the successes in the following few seasons if he had remained in charge.

It was a worthy experiment that just didn't work.

Lasting legacy of the PLG era was Sasa Papac his only decent signing. Defensively we were shocking under PLG And he appeared unwilling to address this obvious failing. David Murray's last throw of the dice that went tragically wrong for all concerned

I think you're conveniently forgetting him bringing Walter back then letting a European final go to his head and plunging us back up to our eyeballs in debt at the worst possible time in financial terms.
