He was part of that cracking side that got to the UEFA final in 1987-88 and knocked out Barcelona. Perthshire-born Redford began his career with Dundee before joining Rangers in February 1980 for a Scottish record transfer fee of £210,000. During his six seasons at Ibrox he made over 200 appearances for the club and won the Scottish Cup and two League Cups. Redford featured in the 4-1 Scottish Cup final replay victory over Dundee United in May 1981 and scored the winner in a League Cup final victory over the Tannadice team - which he would play for in the future - later the same year.
