Petition: Ensure neutral venues for the 2014 Scottish Cup Semi Finals

Recommended Posts

In October 2013 the SFA decided to hold both Scottish Cup Semi Finals at Ibrox as an alternative to Hampden Park, which is being used for the Commonwealth Games. If Rangers reach the Semi Finals they would be handed a home tie. In the interests of the other quarter finalists, the SFA should use Parkhead for one of the Semi Finals if required.

Five signatures there. Two Aberdonians, one from a wee village in the Dons' hinterland, one Raith - what's he doing there? - and one other of dubious origin trying in an oppressive and bigoted way to undermine people's rights to be heard.

In fact the petitioners make a reasonable point. In the grand old days of yore the venues were not allocated until the teams were known. If Rangers were involved the venue was Hampden the other tie going to Ibrox or on rare occasions the Stadium of Blight. Simples.

Meanwhile in Bizarro World ... was an article on that topic as well. Aptly named.

Would somesuch have been done if the Yahoos had not managed to bow out of both of their cup competitions? (Though I do reckon that there are enough "loonies" amongst our support who would have cried foul too.)

Unbelievable. If Celtic were still in the cup there is no way this petition would have been seen. Whilst I agree that semi finals and finals should be at a neutral ground it has to be decided at the start of the tournament not when Rangers are 90 minutes and Albion Rovers away from reaching a semi.

They would have a lot more credibility if they started this while Celtic were still in the cup and included the final in their petition. It's now just seen for what it is - a lot of bitter haters complaining because of the likelihood of it being of benefit to us.
