Other than Wallace and Jig I'm really not sure the players appreciate the club. Was told about players acting like spoilt brats a while back and then last Sunday Heggarty appeared in the WRC before the game. His mates were on my bus. He went about slagging off his team mates, training regime and admitted to walking out on a session because his hands were sore from boxing. Also said Ally never took a training session the week leading up to the Raith Rovers match. Not what any fan wants to hear, especially hours before a cup final.

Should be sacked immediately for breach of contract, true or not he shouldn't be going about mouthing off like that.

I thought Peralta was outstanding today mate. I was well impressed with him and i have been a big critic of him. Today was a different player.

Me too; dug in well time after time, winning the ball against 2 and 3 opponents at a time; but needs to pass the ball off to someone else who has the quality to make a killer pass, unfortunately something we don't have.

Aird hasn't had a full season in the first team yet, he can make goals with crosses from the right and score goals coming in from the left. Give him a bit more time and some proper coaching and he could be star of the future. He has often reminded me of Alex Scott. Unlike Willie Henderson, Alex Scott didn't beat many opponents but he was a devastatingly effective player.

Law seems to go further backward every time I see him. He was a standout for the first 3 months of the season, then nada.

Daly is so one dimensional it's not true. He heads some great goals but can do little or nothing else; posed no threat at all to DU today. Must have been embarrassed about his performance against his old club.

I think Aird is useless. I'm all for the youths getting a chance but he's had a chance and there is no player there. I think he'd struggle to get a game for Aberdeen.

Also, we should never ever be signing players as poor as Daly, regardless of the league we are in. There is standards to be had at Rangers FC.

Peralta did play well today but one good performance doesn't really change my opinion of him. That said, we have wasted a lot of players out of position in the past 10 years. It happened under Eck, Walter and now Ally. They are all similar managers, obviously Walter being the better one. I find Eck and Ally astoundingly similar to be honest, though Ally is worse.

If you sell Wallace could you rely on getting a full season out of Stevie Smith who has a horrendous injury record?

That's a fair point Rab, but I'm only suggesting we use Smith until our return to the top flight. In the meantime, I'm sure there's a young lad (Sinnamon?) who could cover for Smith if he got injured.

The other thing to consider is that selling Wallace would cut a substantial amount from the player wage budget and free up some wages to bring in another player or two for next season.

I was actually slightly surprised that we didn't accept the final bid from Notts Forest in January. Maybe if it had been a full cash up front deal that was offered we wouldn't even be talking about this?

I had it in my head we spent £2m + on him. Even if we were in the SPL I doubt we'd get more than £1m.

No idea what the total cost was, but the bid Hearts accepted was £1.5m.

I'm sure Eck would find that very comforting!

Wallace has made it clear he would not have signed for Notts Forest or anyone else for that matter. Though perhaps Real or Barca might persuade him otherwise.

Sorry, SBS, I really meant Law and have amended that post; but added comment about Daly.

Simonsen - A catalog of errors from him today. Partially at fault for the second goal, gifted the 3rd goal like someone who was match fixing and was extremely lucky on other occasions where he made mistakes coming off his line. Criminal goalkeeping, so I highly doubt if he'll play for Rangers again.

Foster - He's a trier, but we have a young French center back who's better at right back than this guy. Peralta would be better at right back than Fozzy too.

Jig - Sniffing for a new contract? Hopes to play for us in Europe again? Eh? He's having a laugh. Never a defender in a million years and not good enough to keep playing for Rangers at the age of 36 (he's 36 in a few weeks).

Mohsni - Nowhere near good enough and a total clown. Thankfully he only got a two year deal.

Smith - Sell Wallace in the summer and keep Stevie Smith as first choice left back until we're back in the top flight and can afford better. Worth having on the team sheet for his free kick taking ability alone. We don't currently need someone of his quality just as a 2nd choice left back.

Peralta - The lad's a grafter and actually not that bad a player despite the stick he gets, but a four year deal? Eh? If he has a good World Cup and we get offered money for him we should probably take it.

Black - Good enough for next season, but I'd let him see out his contract next season and replace him with better quality for our top flight return.

Law - Is it just me or is this guy over-hyped and over-rated? Good enough for next season, but he's going to need to be replaced by a quality playmaker for our return to the Premier League. We need to find a first class central midfield partner for MacLeod and Law isn't the answer.

Aird - Another one who comes into the grafter category. He's got pace, but his passing and decision making at times is woeful plus his first touch is often a pass to the opposition. Good enough for next season, but good enough for a Rangers team challenging for a top flight title? I don't think so.

Shiels - Way way too inconsistent a player for my liking and too injury prone as well. Odd moments of magic in amongst hundreds of hours of looking like a balloon disguised as a headless chicken.

Daly - TAXI !!

Thanks for the review Zappa. So the question is do we need a full new team or do we get a new manager in to see if he can get improvement from the personnel available.

I would imagine that Eck's unemployment and lack of job offers tells him all he needs to know. Finishing third in a 2 team league will mean he is always remembered though.
