Scotland have a brutal pool of players to pick from.

The government have to answer for that for taking football out the schools and not replacing it with a decent youth set-up. The problem lies in the grass roots. When football was played in schools we had some of the best players in the world.

When did the 'government' take football out of schools? From what I can see schools football seems to be getting played http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/ssfa/football.cfm?page=1392

It's the clubs and the SFA who are responsible for the pitiful state of football in this country, no one else. Money and opportunity squandered again and again. Rangers are as culpable as anyone, more than many indeed.

I only caught the last 20 minutes of the Scotland v Germany under 17's game today, which Scotland won 1-0, but despite a great result the small bit of the game I saw the German players were far superior to the Scotland players!
