I agree with you that this is the most germane part of the statements.

However, I read nothing in any of those newspaper reports of the statements you cite stating that Mr King offered any money or that the Board as you assert, rejected any such offer. The fact that the UoF says it is so, or even that Mr King said that to them, does not make it a fact that he offered the money to the Board or indeed that he had the backers that he said he would require.

One reason, apart from being on holiday, why I deliberately decided to take a sabbatical from here for a while was I got equally fed up reading about Mr King’s £50 million as I was constantly being taken to task for doubting his intentions.

I have done some googling this afternoon and was going to start a separate thread but it seems apposite to post here.

Dave King statement 26 February 2014

“I previously invested 20 million pounds in the club and lost it all. Like all Rangers fans I continue to loyally support the team and the manager. I am willing to provide funding again but I do not believe that Rangers should be under the control of one owner/benefactor.”

There was no mention of any specific amount.

Dave King Statement 5 March 2014

“I will visit the institutions in London next week and put a schedule together with some of the existing shareholders to understand where they are and how they would feel about a rights issue. Also, whether they would participate, whether they would give the rights to someone like me - and I would like that out of the way before I meet the fans.

I will stay up in Scotland for as long as it takes until we have a definite gameplan as to how we will go forward from there.”

Dave King reported in the Daily Mail 24 March 2014.

‘I would say I would probably have to put in £30m of the £50m over the period of time. And I could probably get other people to put in £20m.”

That is the first and only reference I can find to £30m or £50m. I am not saying there isn't an earlier reference or a more definitive one but if there is then please highlight it.

Fact - There was no reference in Rangers’ or Dave King’s statements following the meeting with on 14 March 2014 to any offer by Dave King to invest in Rangers.

Surely if you had offered such an investment and it had been rejected you would have said so, if not at the time then subsequently when the ST sales figures were announced or the forthcoming rights issue.

Rangers’ Board Statement 11 April 2014

When the board met Mr King a few weeks ago, he made it clear that he did not want to put another penny into the club and would prefer to see the club using other investors' money.

The board was therefore surprised, but gave him the benefit of the doubt when, a few days later, Mr King made media comments about a willingness to invest his money into the club.

This is an easy statement to make to the media but is contrary to what he told the whole board.

Rangers' Chairman David Somers 29 April 2014.

"If Mr King wishes to engage in constructive dialogue, then the door remains open. Regrettably however, he continues to make fictitious, inaccurate and misleading comments which are very unhelpful."

king answered that thus

"When I met with the board the Chairman requested that, other than the two public statements that we made, the balance of our discussions would remain private.

"I agreed to that and, despite requests from fan groups to disclose the full details of my discussions, I steadfastly honoured my undertaking. This board did not do likewise.

"In an ill-judged attempt to discredit me, they have now disclosed my comment to them that I preferred not to put money into Rangers if it could be found from other sources.

"In this instance they demonstrated their lack of integrity for no advantage as I had already, as part of my frank discussions with the fan groups, advised them that I had no prime ambition to invest further in the club but will do so if no other investors come forward.

"I would be delighted if the club could thrive without any investment from me.

"This attempt at a "juicy" leak by the board merely proves that it is impossible to engage this board on a basis of confidentiality and integrity."

The 120-day period is assumed to finish around April 17, three weeks before the season-ticket renewal deadline and King is looking for fans seek answers to four main questions.

King's statement continued: "The board has now stated that it was always its intention to only provide the business review after season ticket advances had largely been paid.

"It has denied that it agreed that the business review would be made available prior to fans committing to season ticket advances even though I referred to this agreement in my public statement immediately after our meeting.

"At the time the board allowed my public statement, in toto, to go unchallenged. Presumably it had no concern with what I stated.

"Again, we have an integrity issue but fortunately have common sense as a referee.

"We know that the board did not challenge my public statement of last month.

"It is also common cause that the vital issue for the fans is to be told what ambition the owners have for the club and how this is going to be funded.

"It must be obvious that the fans need this information prior to investing - not after. The board's new version lacks integrity even if it was believable.

"Given that the board is quick to raise integrity and trust as key issues I would like to pose simple questions that are easy to reply to with a simple yes or no.

"a) Does the board agree it is unfair to ask fans to buy season tickets before they consider the business review?

"b) Does the board agree that, given the present financial position of the club, it is appropriate to provide Ibrox Park and Murray Park as security against season ticket advances?

"c) Does the board agree that in the latter half of December 2013 it was in discussions to obtain finance that would be needed prior to the end of the current season?

"d) Does the board agree that in the latter half of December 2013 it provided public assurances to the fans that the club had sufficient cash to last until the end of the current season?

"Without satisfactory answers to these questions fans should not be expected to invest in season tickets."

A spokesman for Rangers said the club would not be commenting on King's statement on Sunday night.

dave king has very publically said he has 50 million of investment lined up and that's what we need.

the board counter that they will decide how much and how it is raised.

the ball is in their court they have refused kings offer and now have to show us what they have which so far is a big fat zero.

but whatever it is it will have to take us back to the top of Scottish football or it's not good enough.

I repeat that you have no evidence that he either offered the £50 million or that it was rejected.

Furthermore, I would ask if there is any evidence that he succeeded in persuading "the institutions in London (to) give the rights to someone like me"?

I wonder what he meant by "someone like me"?

Lastly I would ask if there has been any suggestion from Mr King or any of his supporters that he has obtained commitments to support his reported comment "And I could probably get other people to put in £20m".

I'll take that as a NO, there have not been any public statements from Mr King or anyone else to the effect that he has secured any such commitments.

No, we don't know he offered anything, so far you have not pointed to one statement least of all from him, where he says that he offered anything; all we have is him confirming the Board's statement to the contrary.
