Regarding Ashley's loan at Newcastle and paying it back ... if he sells the club to anyone, he'll make sure to have his Sports Direct interest safeguarded till kindgom comes - if need be by pointing at the loan. Similarly, he could leave it where it is and place an interest on it to be coughed up by any new owner instead.

If we have better options than Ashley, we are all willing to listen. What we have now is him with a foot in the door, the Triumvirate standing outside the walls and looking for a whole to explore, and a leadership staring coffers emptying by the minute. Something will have to change till the end of the year and we'll be left watching on.

If Ashley becomes the main man at Rangers, eyes will be closed and ears will be covered to the fact that his financial input will almost certainly be in the form of a loan.

The kind of person who worshipped David Murray will love to see Ashley in charge. The short term will be prioritised over the long term, which of course is nothing new at Rangers.

Further down the road, if Ashley takes charge, another crisis is waiting, and while it won't affect him, it will affect us.

Don't you think if Rangers were run properly it wouldnt need propped up by loans?

By that I mean a decent scouting system, a youth set-up which provides players for the first team, not paying players over 30 £10K plus per week, etc, etc

Why shouldnt Rangers be self-sustaining & profitable?

If Newcastle are anything to go by, whatever he puts in with his right hand, he takes out with his invisible left.

Sir Duped had a different way of going about things but bottomline, wasn't all that different.

They say that ye cannae kid a kidder and that is very relevant to Sir Duped, who was kidding many during his time at Ibrox.

How many major football clubs manage without borrowing?

If Rangers lives within its means and regularly finishes second while Celtic borrows and finishes top, will you accept that? Will the Rangers support accept that?

If borrowing takes us to the next level and if living within our means keeps us at a lower level, is that acceptable?

Ideally, all clubs would live within their means, but if a few borrow and pick up all the prizes, the rest will soon copy them.

The real world can be a cruel place.

How could we be self sustaining when the Commercial Department would simply be a department of Sports Direct?

Ashley's "interest free" loan costs Newcastle United circa £30m in lost commercial revenue.

Dennis Wise or Joe Kinnear to head up a "decent scouting system"?
