Rangers need financial stability. Ashley can provide that.We should encourage him to invest IMO.

Too many of our supporters are still living in hope(!) Dave King will take over which won't happen.

He couldn't have got those shares(51% I believe) without shareholder approval granting an EGM. That was never going to happen.

Ashley won't withhold the retail money forever. It will be released in due course

The question should be why hasn't it been released, much needed revenue to a club on it's uppers then along comes the man withholding the money with a loan to keep the lights on.

Ibrox hate figure Brian Stockbridge holds 'brazen' bar-room talks with Mike Ashley's right-hand men at Scotland team hotel

Nov 13, 2014 22:47

By Keith Jackson

VIDEO footage from the hotel show Derek Llambias and Barry Leach leaving a private room with Brian Stockbridge at the hotel.

TWO of new Rangers tycoon Mike Ashley’s right-hand men held bar-room talks with the club’s hated former director Brian Stockbridge at Scotland’s team hotel, the Record can reveal.

Video footage shows Ashley’s trusted allies Derek Llambias and Barry Leach emerging from a meeting with Stockbridge on Wednesday night at five-star Mar Hall.

Scotland manager Gordon *Strachan and his staff watched as the trio enjoyed a drink and a chat in the Renfrewshire hotel’s public bar.

The meeting was held ahead of an expected fresh round of *redundancies at Rangers, with job losses feared in their PR and marketing divisions.

Llambias is understood to be taking charge of the cost cutting after being parachuted in by Newcastle owner Ashley and then appointed to the board along with Leach.

The move was put in place after Sports Direct boss Ashley handed over £3million in emergency loans to spare Rangers from insolvency.

The embattled club’s bosses admit more money may be needed to pay *December’s wage bill.

The Record understands the Mar Hall meeting was arranged so *Stockbridge could clear up historic financial issues.

A source close to Llambias insisted Stockbridge would not return to the *boardroom.

They said: “If fans are concerned that *Stockbridge might be coming back to the club, we can tell them, *categorically, there is no chance of that happening. Never in a million years.”

A source close to *Stockbridge said: “It’s only natural they talked about his time at the club and his insights into issues surrounding it.”

The video captures the three men walking through the lobby.

The Scotland party were said to be surprised to stumble across them.

A source said: “A lot of the guys have links with Rangers and can’t quite believe how brazenly these people were behaving.”

Stockbridge was a key player in Charles Green’s 2012 takeover but as financial director was blamed for overseeing a cash burn of £70million over an 18-month period which saw the club plunge into their current difficulties.

The Record exposed Stockbridge for secretly filming ex-chairman Malcolm Murray at the end of a boozy dinner – a tape leaked online.

He left Ibrox in January but in July we revealed he was allowed to buy £215,000 worth of shares for £7000 as a part of golden handshake deal.

As a result, Stockbridge’s name is toxic among the club’s supporters.

Craig Houston of protest group the Sons of Struth said: “There have been rumours about meetings between Stockbridge and Mr Llambias.

“Now the Daily Record has provided us with proof. What is going on at the heart of our club?”

DR

What is it with this "sources close to" rubbish? Do all these - rather normal - people have a staff of secretaries and heralds who speak with the media?

Houston ... the DR says rather exactly why these three people met, so what sense makes his question about the "going-ons at the heart of our club"?

Rangers must be the only club in the world who have got supporters opposed to being owned/controlled by a genuine billionaire.........

Hardly. We are not even the only club in the UK that doesn't want this one
