John Eustace Arrives In Glasgow

Away ye go man. They are 14 trophies behind Arsenal at the moment. You are placing an awful lot of confidence on Chelsea having a Net trophy gain on Arsenal of 1 per season over the next 15 years. Over-confidence in the extreme, pretty much the same as you suggested Chelsea were pretty much a stick-on for the Champions League last year, only to bomb and fail - and only then came the "the English teams are shite compared to the Spanish teams".

Arsenal may not be as strong as Chelsea but they are only a couple of players away from mounting a proper challenge.

Arsenal also actually try to win the Carling which may hurt your assertion that in 10-15 years Chelsea will have more trophies than Arsenal :D :fish:

Either way, Chelsea still don't have, nor will they ever have, the history of Arsenal. Are Arsenal not the only team to have never been relegated from the top flight in England ? Buying trophies doesn't buy you history either BTW.

Chelsea are the current Carling Cup holders ;).

We shall see though.

Yet you continue to wax lyrical about how much better EVERY English team in the pro leagues is even compared to the SPFL.

So which is it ? Are Leeds & Sheffield Wednesday shite ? Or is it that they are still miles better than SPFL teams, in which case we may have won a watch with Eustace.

I think your previous post summarized it very well. A one year deal, a born winner who accepts nothing less than 100%, someone who will ensure everyone is giving their all, someone who can lead and organize. On a one year deal this is hardly earth-shattering.

In fact, seeing him only get a 1-yr deal has me somewhat enthused about the management of our Club. A 1 yr deal for a 35 yr old who is recovering from injury makes perfect sense, not a huge financial risk and if he doesn't recover from injury well then he gets released. The previous Board would have given him a 2 or 3 yr deal.

For one year on fairly limited wages this one comes under the "very little risk" category for me. Could work out terrifically, but if he is a bust then no big deal.

Compared to Scottish football sides like Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday are top teams. Looking at them objectively, they are not. When Charlton signed Salim Kerkar they finished 9th that season and he played quite a bit. These clubs sign a lot of poor players and their interest in a player doesn't mean very much.

The current Leeds United captain is a former Scottish youth internationalist who has never been in contention for a place in the senior squad.
