Alan Pattullo: Looking into the crystal football for 2016

In a division further down, it is likely to go the wire. Rangers and Hibs have been joined by a third rival in Falkirk in recent days, with Peter Houston’s side having made stealth-like progress to finish 2015 as the second-placed team in the division. It is strange because Hibs have earned deserved applause in recent weeks for the way they have cut Rangers’ lead at the top. Alan Stubbs’ side failed in their bid to overhaul Rangers earlier this week but their manager labelled this attempt as a “free hit”. They still have to play the Ibrox side once more, at home. Expect them to win this one. Expect them also to finish first, with Rangers condemned to another challenging play-off experience.

Regards the League, the old 'depth of squad' theory being vital has been turned on it's head.

I tend to think it's not only luck or good fortune that has seen relatively few injuries and a real collective desire and spirit to keep performing at a high level. It's more to do with the MW&Co way of going about business, light, competitive squad backed up by good infrastructure and training.

Well, maybe the part about Hibs winning the match against us could be true. After all, it'll be a meaningless game for us (maybe give some kids a run out) whereas they'll be scrapping with Falkirk for second place will be desperate for points.

Still think we'll win though.

Well, this happens if football journos try too hard to appear like goldfish ... memory-wise.

It is always neat to say on hindsight, one might say, but we have seen it for decades and decades. Teams having a good run, then hit a bad streak. Be that performance or result-wise. And while we are allowed to have opinions that go from doom and goom to exultation, journalists should know better. But that's your modern day* Scottish journalist ....

*With modern day going back for about 10 years. Oh how have standards dropped ...

Looks like Alan Pattullo give Hibs the kiss of death because they've dropped 13 points in the 9 league games since he wrote that, while we've only dropped 2 points over the same number of games. In fact, if you count the last ten league games we've picked up 28 points from 30 while Hibs have only picked up 14 points.....

It will be interesting to hear what the clown has to say when the big tax case result gets overturned. He waited until round 3 before asking if the SPFL should take another look at whether Rangers should lose titles, etc.

His crystal ball seems to be broken :D

I'm still waiting on Gersnet's own band of "half glass empties" to admit to being overly negative towards our title aspirations - they know who they are :ninja:

We kept hearing how not signing an out and out striker whilst Hibs signed Stokes would result in us being overtaken at the summit and us being resigned to a play-off spot. So whilst we can all chuckle at Patullo's faux pas crystal ball.... we have enough on our own wee forum who were very of the same opinion as Patullo.....

Will they now admit that they were unnecessarily worried about our automatic promotion chances ?
