The manks and their resolution 12 nonsense.

Were it not for him being Irish would they have hired him?

Will put bums on seats for the CLQ's, might even free up the area they closed down due to lack of interest these past years. If he can get through the qualifiers even with the aid of a dodgy rule book then they'll be fighting each other for our visit too.

This appointment is not unlike when they got Brady in 1991.

It wasn't for football reasons primarily.

Same as this one. It will work out the same way for them.

We have a better manager like we had in 1991

IMO this appointment is primarily for football reasons. On the face of it Rodgers is a coup for Celtic but taken as a whole it is also a financial gamble. Even with increased ST sales, the CL qualifiers this summer become ever more important to them. They will be played at a time when you'd imagine their squad to be undergoing fundamental change.

We simply have to concentrate on what we are doing regards building the infrastructure and getting value for every pound spent.

It's not all about the size of warchests and newspaper headlines. We should know that only too well.

We are in a good place and have forced them into taking a gamble.

Obviously the timing of the announcement is to take the tim minds off the fact they are not in the SC final. Rodgers has in fact not done much as a manager except for that 1 Liverpool year and as was pointed out that was not his team.

Thankfully the tims have not yet learned how bad Brown is as they are posting now he will have Barton for his dinner. They didn't seem to see how far off he was in the SC semi. Hopefully Rodgers thinks the same.

It certainly is a gamble alright.

But I do think this appointment was to appease their restless hordes who wanted a name.

Out of the three which were continually quoted( Moyes, Martinez & Rodgers) I'm glad it was Rodgers they got. He was more or less a fun figure at the end of his time at Liverpool.

Once Suarez went he was dead man walking. His signings & tactics at Liverpool were poor more often than not. Spending £292m and winning nothing.

And as you say it is imperative we continue as we've been doing on the football side of things & recruit well in the summer

It will be interesting to see if their theory is correct that Neil Lennon was "constantly attacked and victimised" because he was an Irish Catholic will carry over into Brendan Rodgers. Or will it prove our theory that it was because he was an antagonising little bigoted ned who courted trouble. I wonder.

A name in the sense that they were forced to consider fan reaction (ST uptake), yes.
