Watch as thugs – some wearing Rangers tops and others supporting Palestine...

Recommended Posts

Police Scotland used photographic and video evidence to arrest, charge and convict Rangers' fans after their conduct at the SC final at Hampden.

This picture, and no doubt others, is very clear and facial recognition should not be a problem.

What will be the reaction and actions of Plod, I wonder? After all, these fans were well warned by Plod before the game as to what would happen if this kind of conduct was observed.

I don't think there is any criminal offence involved in flying such a flag that police could do anything about. It's UEFA who ban such political displays during their tournament matches.

What pisses me off about it is that they feel there is a need to even mention " some wearing Rangers tops" in a headline of this nature. In some ways you have to hand it to the Record, they piss everybody off. Look at any sellick or hibz forum and you will see a concensus that the record is pro Rangers and against them.

Celtic fans ‘could be arrested if they wave Palestine flags’

Celtic fans could be arrested under controversial Scottish legislation if they wave Palestinian flags during their team’s clash with Hapoel Be’er Sheva. Celtic host the Israeli champions in the opening leg of their Champions League play-off tie this Wednesday.Members of the Parkhead faithful have planned to bring Palestinian flags with them to protest the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. The club have previously been fined by Uefa for fans displaying flags during a European tie, but it now seems the individuals responsible could be landed in hot water themselves.

Police Scotland Superintendent Alan Murray told The Scottish Sun: “At every match, police will monitor the behaviour of the crowd, including any flags or banners displayed, and make a judgement on whether there is criminality and take the appropriate action.” Though carrying the flag of a foreign nation would not be considered in breach of the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications Act (Scotland) 2012, the nature of Celtic’s opponents could mean the flag waving will be interpreted as “stirring up hatred against a group of persons based on their membership (or presumed membership) of a group defined by reference to a thing mentioned in subsection (4)” which includes “nationality” and “ethnic or national origins”.

I tell you what. Those in political and policing power don't half pull some crackers out their arse in this country! I would like nothing more than to see that mob arrested for criminality however I would like to see them try prosecute anyone for waving a national flag, of any kind? I know exactly what the mhanky mob were up too in waving the national flag, and there was one other in particular that they could be arrested for waving (how it got past the stewards??) however re national flags...

Where do they get these ideas from?. Anyone would be well within their rights to take shortbread towers to the ECHR who would, after picking their jaw off the floor, chastise we nippy and her cohorts and tell her to toe the line or there will be no potential EU watered down/half cut membership for her! IIRC they tried similar guff re Union Flags and Red Hand Flags, until my very point above was mentioned in their bigoted little meetings.

Police Scotland out in force at the Scumhut and they do next to nothing ... apart from telling the Israel lass to stay away and escorting the Hapoel fans through the mob. These f@ckers get away with nigh anything they do in Scotland and have acquired a mental status of being untouchable that only something rather nasty will wake the media and politics up.

Surely it comes under the OBFA legislation

I'm not even convinced something "nasty" would make a difference dB. You only need to look at the SC final attacks on our players to know that there is very much a "sweep sweep" mentality in Scotland, unless of course the perpetrators are of Rangers persuasion.

Well I've certainly seen the Israeli flag in the Rangers support at matches, I once took a photo of the Star of David flag in the Copland and sent it to a Celtic supporting Scottish Jewish Zionist I know, indeed I was thinking about him last night, he must have been squirming as the Hamas-fest took place.

I think it's ridiculous that there's even any suggestion the Celtic support should be censured for this though. It was impolite, childish and reeks of the needy 'look at us' culture that permeates a section of their support, but that's it.

I noticed a few years ago that as Irish Republicans started flying Palestinian flags from lampposts in West Belfast that Israeli ones appeared in Loyalist areas so it was only a matter of time before it showed up in Glasgow football too.

I've a lot of sympathy with the Palestinian people, they've been treated pretty badly by a variety of countries and peoples but using it as some point scoring, right-on, aren't we all hipster intellectuals bullshit should be mocked. The holier than thou strain in the Celtic support is cringeworthy. The complex issues of the Middle East are unlikely to be influenced by barely reformed football casuals from Coatbridge. Tossers.

Have you ever seen more than one in the crowd? I certainly can't remember seeing that.

I've seen plenty of different flags being in our crowd over the years, but just because one appears doesn't mean that there's a political inference behind it (and I'm not suggesting that's what you are implying but more making the general point.)
