The Ibrox club are desperate to hold on to second place and have fierce competition from Aberdeen, with the Dons just two points behind. The Light Blues will restart training tomorrow and begin their build-up for next Sunday’s friendly against Leipzig. The Germans have taken the Bundesliga by storm this season, and currently sit just three points behind the leaders, Bayern Munich. One of their shining lights has been Oliver Burke, signed for £13-million from Nottingham Forest, and now with four Scotland caps under his belt. Warburton knows the match will challenge his players, but welcomes the task.Warburton said: “We had some nice offers to go to the United States, but we wanted to give the players a break before coming back and training here. “Going to America involved too many games and getting back late“At the time it was being planned, we could have been the Friday night game in the Scottish Cup, so we didn’t want to risk it. “Leipzig will be a really tough test but it’s the type of challenge that we wanted.“They are second in the Bundesliga, so they are a good side. “They are a high-energy, pressing sort of team and that will challenge us.” The Rangers boss admits he’s an admirer of German football.He went on: “I like the German game and everyone knows about Bayern Munich. But I have watched a lot of Borussia Dortmund. “The whole product in Germany is good, especially the pricing for the fans.“I think the first thing you look at in a club is the people behind the scenes, and that’s a big thing over there. “We want to have the best people here at Rangers and I think we have done that.“The environment you create helps the players develop.” Warburton hopes the game will give the long-suffering Rangers’ fans a taste of things to come. Rangers make the trip to Germany this week as they take on Bundesliga title challengers RB Leipzig. Taking advantage of the Ladbrokes Premiership 's three-week January shutdown, Mark Warburton will test his squad this weekend against one of the best teams in the German top-flight this season. Promoted from the 2.Bundesliga for this season, Leipzig - owned by energy drinks company Red Bull - have been flying and were even leading Bayern Munich in first place at one stage. The friendly match at RB Leipzig's Red Bull Arena takes place this Sunday with around 8,000 Rangers fans making the trip.And we've concocted a little guide for those travelling supporters making the journey over to the east side of Germany at the weekend. Located more than 1,600 kilometres from Glasgow in the east of Germany, Leipzig has a population of 570,000 and is the 10nth most populous city in the country. With flights rather hard to come by direct from Scotland to the city, a lot of Rangers fans will arrive into the capital, Berlin. That's located around two hours from Leipzig, just under 200km in distance away. The Ibrox side will take part in the exhibition match at the 43,000-seat capacity Red Bull Arena, handily situated near the city centre of Leipzig. Formerly called the Zentralstadion from its birth in 1956, the stadium hosted five matches in the 2006 FIFA World Cup before being renamed in 2010 - following RasenBallsport Leipzig's formation as a club the year previous. If you fancy a wee trip to the zoo before or after the game, then Leipzig Zoo is close by and within walking distance.How to do you get to the Red Bull Arena? Well, it's relatively simple. The Red Bull Arena lies slightly west of the city centre and central railway station. Walking would take around 20 to 30 minutes. If your legs won't carry you, take trams numbered 3, 7, or 15 from the main railway station - Leipzig Hbf - for under €3. It takes around seven minutes with the nearest stop called Sportforum. An essential in any trip abroad following your team is where to get a good bevvy - and knowing how badly your bank account will suffer in the process is vital information.There's good news for Rangers fans as the average cost of a pint of beer comes in between €2.50-€3.20 - which is £2.10-£2.70 at the current exchange rate. With the Red Bull Arena quite near to the city centre, there are plenty of bars and pubs to choose from in that area. It's Germany, so naturally there’s loads of spots to drink or eat outside even in winter. Beer gardens, or ‘Biergarten’, doesn’t just mean beer, it means a cosy outdoor space to relax, drink or eat. Most of the popular ones will be open and will put out heaters. Scherbers is known as a chilled-out historical beer garden in Zentrum-West, an area immediately south-east of RB Leipzig's ground. It has a good menu and is kid-friendly, if that's what you're after. In Clara-Zetkin park, a little further south from Zentrum-West, there’s the Glashaus im Clarapark, with indoor/outdoor seating and an impressive restaurant. For a younger and more beer-drinking establishment, travel a bit further south of the city centre and you'll find The Hafenbar on the Karli. The Augustusplatz is a square located at the east end of the city centre of Leipzig. It's the city's largest square and one of the biggest in Europe. Perfect for a big get together. Fans tend to do this before European games or friendly fixtures and it's a great way for the supporters to relax with each other in a big area - take some pictures and hang supporters' clubs flags and banners and bring the colour. Augustusplatz is a hub for the city's tram network and is just down the road from the main Leipzig rail station - perfect for those arriving from other German cities. Put away your sunnies and your shorts folks, because it's going to be a cold one.It may forecast to be partly sunny on Sunday, but that's with a temperature of -4C. Yes, -4C at day time. January has an average high of 3.2C and an average low of -2.2C - so take your scarves and your hats and your gloves - and as many jackets as you can pack. Leipzig sit second in the Bundesliga just three points behind Bavarian behemoths Bayern Munich . It’s fair to say they’re not liked by fans outside the city, with supporters despising German football’s noveau riche, who have risen up the ranks at a rapid rate. Not that RB will care. They play exciting, attacking football. Rangers fans will know a good few of their players, none more so than Oliver Burke . The 19-year-old Scotland star has mostly had to be content with coming off the bench in his first season abroad. But Burke has still made 14 appearances and scored one goal since signing for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side at the end of the last window. Also keep an eye out for forward Timo Werner, the 20-year-old German from Stuttgart who has already managed to net nine times this season. What kind of team Hasenhüttl will put out is up for debate. One thing’s for sure, though.
