[FT] Sheff Wed 0 - 2 Rangers (Windass 43; Miller 56)

I don't think I posted on the St Johnstone bounce game thread either, although I might be wrong. I didn't attend or see any of the matches unlike those against Progres, Celtic, Aberdeen... I think I did post on the Watford thread before the match along the lines of 'bounce game results don't matter' and I do think that. No one wants to get turned over but I think players are holding something back in these matches, using them to get fit, try something new, that type of thing so results need to be seen in context. For what it's worth the draw with Marseille and the win at Sheffield are pleasing results and reading the comments of those who did see both matches suggest we looked greatly improved. I'm delighted by that.

I don't particularly enjoy being the forum curmudgeon and I take no pleasure in questioning the ability of our manager. Let's see what the next couple of weekends bring, but I repeat no one will be happier than me to eat humble pie where our manager is concerned. I still have my doubts but everyone suggested he needed time to get his players together, I'm doing just that.

Thanks for your concern though...

Seems an entirely realistic approach wrt PC. I always took the view that it was the job of the players & manager to impress the fans, not the other way round.

Have to say I was impressed yesterday. A side far superior to that we will be facing week in week out were dominated by our team and that arguably wasn't even the full first 11.

I don't particularly enjoy being the forum curmudgeon ..............................

Sadly this style of writing reminds me of that king of all 'curmudgeons' GS, where every sentence that starts with a positive ends with a negative & vice versa.

For me, the glass is half full with expectation & hope until the evidence proves otherwise. :crest

.................................. but, each to his own.

I'm not sure who 'GS' is but I'm going to assume you're paying me a compliment, you know, in the spirit of glasses being half full and all that.

Graham Spiers I think.

Alves looks so incredibly imposed and unhurried with the ball even when he has an opposition player bearing down on him at top speed. A lesser player may hurriedly blooter it away anywhere at all but he just takes his time and sends the ball into a more upfield position where we may retain it.

In saying that it's a friendly with nothing at stake and I couldn't say if he may be more urgent in a match with points at stake.
