Ibrox Road Closures

Recommended Posts

I heard today that the banners on the club deck stairs are potentially going to be sold as advertising space. No idea if true, although hopefully Orange get on board if it is.

That's just the Phantom stirring the proverbial... :)

I do wonder if there is a Planning issue. Surely the Planning Authority will require to take a view, if the banners are permanent, as they will materially change the frontage, and alter the aspect of a Building of National/International Importance.

Is that not just the original main fronting ? I didn't think the addition for the club deck, and the stairs hitherto, were part of the listed building status

Absolutely true but one wonders just how credible any threat is.

I worry more about increasing policing costs and how their footprint is continually being extended from the stadium outwards. It's no wonder tickets increase in price with clubs having to pay a small fortune to police games.

Surely the police costs are in the and directly around the stadium. Rangers cannot be charged for things happening hundreds of yards away surely?

The banners are on structures adjacent/adjoining and will certainly distract from visual amenity. You can't just tack on any old rubbish to a Listed Building, thankfully, and the additions to create the Club Deck were subject to Planning Consent, themselves.

I don't see them being permissible on a permanent basis. Perhaps a Temporary Consent would be granted.

How credible was the threat before Manchester or Barcelona? Or Glasgow airport 10 years ago?

There isn't a cost that can be put on human life and I, for one, am glad to see them there.
