[FT] Rangers 3 (Morelos 6; Tavernier 50pen; Coulibaly 86) - 1 Maribor

Decent result and great performance.  We look like a completely different team from the last 2 seasons already.

Oh God, I’m getting giddy with optimism.  I haven’t felt like that in a while about Rangers.

We have a great chance and most would have accepted this position a few weeks ago. We can score over there as the 3rd goal puts them under more pressure and as we can hold them out for a good 25 mins we can find holes. They are a good team who made ur difficult with organisation and skill and even if we go out the fact we are young and inexperienced and have beaten seasoned European campaigners 3-1 is fantastic for us. Coulibally superb.

Nothing much to add really. Perhaps we go 3-5-2 or the like next week, with Tav the right wingback. IMHO, Ejaria's time will come, but he looks still a bit out of place at times.

Had a look at other results and some real surprises in there ("pre-season" springs to mind):

Ufa 2 Progres 1

Trencin 4 Feyenoord 0

Minsk 4 St. Petersburg 0

Legia Warzaw 1 Dudelange (Luxembourg) 2 (after 81 mins)

We needed those two goals in the second half cause they're a dangerous team going forward and I think they'll score at home.

We look like we will score against them to

We're set up to play on the break with the two goal cushion now. I'm happy with that cause I think we'll score against them there too.

Aside from Warburton's first season (against the second tier), this is the first time since 10/11 that we've looked like a proper Rangers side. I actually feel a sense of pride watching us now. Early days but it's looking great.

They had a couple of chances, but we created so many and should have won by a lot more.  The difference now however is that we are winning games and the confidence is growing.  The team knew their goal was a fluke.  Their player clearly tried to cross it, but mishit it into our net.

Either way, I thought we looked comfortable all the way through that game.  We look fit, strong, and capable of competing.  It really is such an exciting time for us.

Changed my mind about Tav. On another thread I said I would take a fee for him but £2m from WBA was an insult. Captaincy has brought out the best in him. Can't wait for him and Barisic to go marauding on either flank.

I remember our last good RB Hutton stepping up in Europe and really proving himself. Tavernier was great tonight.
