It looks like a proportion of the 20m shares went to John Halsted, as the club's website has been updated and he now owns 4.16%/16.25m shares.

There's a John Halsted who is managing partner at Pamplona Capital, and I'd guess it's him. Not sure if he's a fan, or it's just a venture capital investment.

Since the club had discretion whether or not to sell the shares to this fellow, I assume he must bring something other than a large bag off tenners.

Not necessarily as the club need a lot of cash to keep us going until we get the season ticket cash in.

 

Saying that, he has been on boards of directors with people from the Middle East who appear to have a lot of cash (Sheikh Al Qahtani, Abdulla Al Mansoori) and the former MD of Morgan Stanley, so who knows if it's part of a bigger picture.
