No in my opinion our manager is the problem.  Unbelievable that bit part players walk into the team.  Tillman and Davis were two shocking inclusions in that side tonight.  A year on and gio doesn't know what his best team  is.  Liverpool or not I want a manager who thinks he could win the game tonight.  Gio is a shrinking violet.  We have a manager without a spine.

Wasn't a shrinking violet when we destroyed Dortmund away last season.

We are outclassed at this level and quicker we understand and accept that, the better.

We've punched above our weight for 2 or 3 years in Europe, starting with SG and continued with Gio last season and this season by qualifying for the CL.

Wouldn't matter who our manager was, it would be same outcome.

The bulk of this team peaked a while ago and it shows.

Put that together with the most difficult group we have ever been in and you're always going to be struggling.

Our next away game in the CL is against Napoli, a team who scored TEN against Liverpool (4) and Ajax (6) in the same ground.

I agree with everything you just said,  we have simply not strengthened in midfield for years now , free transfers , loans etc etc , you simply can't compete at this level with that type of player.

However you can press , tackle ,   pass , none of which we did tonight .

Massive performance from McGregor tonight. A little off topic here but I had a conversation with a Jambo about 3 weeks ago who was utterly convinced Craig Gordon has always been a better keeper than him. Tonight, at 40. Makes you realise just how brilliant he was in his prime. I always feel for keepers who concede on nights like this. He was on form.
