Wilson needs to be more ruthless in moving players on for decent money, even if some fans are up in arms. 

 

In Morelos' case, every time we got a rumour of a move there were numerous posts saying he was too important to us and the bid wasn't high enough, etc. 

 

We've now missed the boat to cash in.

 

Fortunately, he only cost £1M; we've certainly got our money's worth.

His goals in Europe have been great.

 

It's a shame that he didn't pick a better time to move on.

One of few post WWII players to score more than 115 goals for the club yet it could have been so much better.

 

The club reportedly turned down bids. At the AGM, Ross Wilson said there had only been 1 bid for him. Can't blame him for that.

Players that have performed at a very high level for us seldom manage to maintain it for very long.  

 

That is when there will be interest and decent money on offer, eg. Bassey. 

 

Thinking that the player will maintain the high performance levels is optimistic and not the way a successful player trading model will work.

Yeah, but our right back isn’t far behind him in terms of goals and the league quality is absolutely crap. Honestly, it should have been so much more. When he leaves I won’t feel any great regret.

Will you miss his 29 goals in Euro' competition(a club record) where the opposition is more than decent?

I miss him already because its been absent this season and half of last. We must adapt and move on.

However, 29 Euro goals is a considerable contribution and extremely difficult to replace.

 

Further, he has been targeted by the usual suspects. BBC Scotland's behaviour has been disgraceful. Constant appeals to the Compliance Officer by both Sportsound and Sportscene. I think eight red cards and four rescinded. 

 

Then five convictions for opposition supporters throwing coins, hot and cold iced drinks and, lighters and vapes. 

 

My favourite was in the month where Rangers visited both Pittodrie and Easter Road three seasons past. The Dandy Dons held a banner in Spanish proclaiming Alfie's Mother to be a mattress. At Easter Road, Irvine Welsh on Hibs TV wanted Alfie macheted into thin strips and fed to seagulls. Both incidents did not receive punishment, they were drowned out by the sniggers of the usual suspects.

 

It is a baby and bath water situation. Often, he is his own worst enemy but, he has made an important contribution.

When Alfie goes in the summer we need to replace him with a similar type off player.

Great post.  All of these actions were as a result of their fear of his talent.  They wanted him gone and attempted to hound him out.  When Alfie goes in the summer we need to replace him with a similar style of player.  That won't be easy.
