The DoF model appointed Beale, was then ditched before summer recruitment.

The board had obviously saw the success of Postecoglou's recruitment and let Beale do his thing in the transfer market.....The board will see that the successful recruitment on the other side of the city lost three league games by mid September but then developed into a team (I don't see Beale doing the same but the board after spending the money probably have to give him a little longer).

 

Now the talk is about getting the DoF model back in place before a new managerial appointment.

 

We are all over the place trying to make up ground quickly and run before we can walk.

Previously it was about gambling on too many 'outside bets' (players with quality who could be had on the relative cheap because they had significant issues, mostly injury related). I said at the time that it wouldn't work and would actually hinder a more medium term approach that might eventually work. On the finances, the board are doing their level best but it isn't easy.

 

I am no defender of Beale. He is just another symptom of an more profound ongoing issue.

Gerrard was shown patience, even in the face of a number of disappointing results, because most of the support could see progress. We could see what Rangers were trying to do, we could see improvement on and off the pitch. We'd a style of play most of us enjoyed watching, we'd signings that improved the starting 11 and so after a disappointing result, while there were moans and annoyance, the majority of our support backed Gerrard because we could see what he was building and felt it would come right. 

 

The difference now is I can't see what he's trying to build. I don't know what style of play we're nurturing and so far only our keeper looks like a new signing that's improved our starting 11. Whatever faults GvB might have had Colak, Tillman and Lawrence all started their careers well, even Davies looked like a good addition early on. 

 

Supporters can be quick to judge and we're prone to extremes of emotion. But, we're not blind at the same time. Our pre season matches were concerning, our defeat to Kilmarnock was a worry, our victories in the league have been welcome, but not without nervousness. We did well against an out of form Servete, then were played off the park, twice, by PSV, a side we bested 12 months ago, then turned in a very poor performance, at home, against as weak a Celtic side as we've faced in 3 seasons. 

 

Seriously, can you point to something that mitigates Beale, something that points to better times to come?

Some may not want Beale to continue as manager but reckon now is not the time to get shot of him. I wonder how many actually think he’s got what it takes to be manager long term.

There is an argument to let him go on to the end of the year but I’m not persuaded by it.

Its either now, after the next dropped points if we drop some before Celtic do, or he sees the season out.

 

Or Celtic could lose their next 2 games while we win and go top and we can all pretend he's a genius.
