It was put in place to stop the big clubs just going out and buying a player if they had injuries or so on. Instead it’s led to them stockpiling players. It was a worthwhile attempt but as always the authorities are a few steps behind. Players were always cup tied before it so clubs couldn’t add to European squads if needed.
