Verona and Torino call Rangers for Dessers

Sky Sport Italia claim that Verona and Torino are interested in bringing Cyriel Dessers back to Serie A from Glasgow Rangers.

The 29-year-old Nigerian is no stranger to Italy, as he played the 2022-23 campaign at Cremonese before he was sold to Rangers for €5m.

He has done well in Scotland so far this season, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists in 33 competitive games.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Verona are in negotiations to bring Dessers back to Italy.

Hellas had been close to securing Adam Idah from Norwich City on loan, but walked away from talks this evening, so he is instead linked with Celtic.

Torino could also be an option for Dessers, but he is their second choice if Rafa Mir of Sevilla turns them down.

He had been expected to make a decision today, but is continuing to hesitate as he awaits other clubs.

Given our current injury situation and his recent improvement, Dessers is almost as "unsellable" as Butland. Who'd have thought that a few months ago.

Not sure if there's much in the Dessers links back to Italian football but whilst the manager might be tempted at the right price, it would leave us well short in terms of our Euro squad. The league is our priority but long term injuries means we can't afford to move on too many.

General thinking seems to be we can make three changes to Euro squad. Balogun > Davies, Diomande > Cifu and Silva > Lammers could be the sum of those; still leaving us without Ridvan (if he stays), Cortes (if he signs) and any possible Dessers replacement left out of squad.

It may well be the manager thinks he can get back Davies and Sima for at least the 2nd leg of our last 16 tie in March but likes of Ridvan, Jefte, Cortes and any new striker(s) could miss out on the EL squad. Again, league remains priority but next 36 hours will see our ambitions clarified.

That’s a good point. 3 changes is very prohibitive. I think it is incredibly unlikely we sell and replace Dessers at this point in the window, even less likely when it weakens our Euro squad.

If its Verona in for Dessers they are skint and wont be spending money. Probably a loan they are looking for.

Dessers has us over a barrel.

Not his fault of course about injuries, but I am not buying for a micro second that he has turned any corner.

Nor that anyone in their right mind would lay down serious caish for his services.

Hopefully his drunken boxing luck continues and we get to the summer with some success, and his ultimate departure.

Indeed everyone has there links etc especially these clients  who “leak” the info out to these sources who publish it knowing the clubs interested in there players will have to pay a larger sum than if  it was under the radar type thing and telling them to keep their

mouths 🤐, classic old snatch and grab should be the way forward especially with all these 3rd 4th parties adding there cuts on the deal.
