craig 5,199 Posted August 11, 2008 Share Posted August 11, 2008 Sorry but I think it is premature to cast stones at the club or indeed that he has already gone - a couple of things need to be noted. 1. A minimum fee release was triggered - the club had NO OPTION but to ACCEPT the bid. 2. The club could very well have told Cuellar "we have no option but to accept this bid but we WANT YOU TO STAY" - at this juncture we just dont know. One negative I have is the minimum fee release clause - are we such a parochial team these days that we allow 7.8 million to be put in the contract as a release clause ?? I fear he will be gone - but hopefully the club have re-iterated to him that he is a WANTED player at the club and if his previously stated desire to remain is the same then he could yet stay. EDIT : Didnt read the Rangers official website article and see that it is all but done. I actually dont blame the club for this at this juncture (aside from allowing such a low release clause) but would place the blame for this solely on Cuellar and his advisors - they have said that he WANTS to leave (unless of course he has been pushed by the club - but the ominous nature was there to see a couple of months ago when his agent said they had offers but he wanted to stay).
