THE STRIKING qualities of Nacho Novo and Andrius Velicka were too hot for Kilmarnock tonight as Rangers claimed a comfortable win at Rugby Park.

Industrious Spaniard Novo scored twice in the first half, set up by Velicka on both occasions,

And Novo returned the favour in the second half from an indirect free kick inside the box - an incident which led to the dismissal of Killie keeper Chad Harpur.

There were good pAndrius Velicka, Rangerserformances throughout the Rangers side with young Ulsterman Andy Little excellent at the back beside experienced Christian Dailly and exciting Spaniard Aaron showing his skills for the 70 minutes he played.

The only down side was a knock to Chris Burke which forced his substitution at half-time.

Novo struck the opening goal after just seven minutes when Velicka played him in then made it 2-0 on 33 minutes when he finished well after another good lay-off from the Lithuanian.

The match was safe in 75 minutes when Gavin Skelton clearly passed the ball back to keeper Harpur when trying to divert a cross in from Georgios Efrem.

An indirect free kick was awarded just outside the six yard line and Killie put everyone on the goal-line.

Novo touched the ball back to Velicka and he rifled it high into the net.

Harpur complained so much about the decision that was sent off by referee Craig but the 10 men of Killie managed to hold out without conceding again.

RANGERS: Robinson; McLachlan, Little, Dailly, Stevie Smith; Burke (Efrem), Loy, Edu (Fleck), Aaron (Kinniburgh); Novo, Velicka

Aaron MUST get a game soon and Novo would be in my starting line up aswell.

Good to hear Velicka played, i was wondering what was happening with him after such a promising PreSeason.

S Smith played 90 mins also, so thats what I would call a good exercise Gergoe Burley!!!

Is Aaron the new Gow?

Maybe we should give him a run in the team, and if he has a few Charlie Adam games, then we can get down to the business of hounding him out...

Little bit of a snide remark Cal. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and not every young player is hounded out.

P.s Walter Smith is the the person who hounds the most ypung players out of Ibrox and you seem quick to defend him. Funny!

Agreed. If he isnt good enough then yes we wont want him in the team. Lets at least try first though.

One fans view of the game:

Just back from Killie. We won 3-0 and looked comfortable. About 300 people there including McCoist and Durrant.

Man by man write up below......

1.Lee Robinson - Only had a couple of easy saves to make but held them well and his handling from crosses was good. Looked comfortable with the ball at his feet as well.

2. William McLachlan - A committed performance full of energy but rushed his passes on a couple of occasions and positional sense could be better.

3. Steven Smith - Looked comfortable in possesion and was always a willing outlet down the left. Looks ready for the 1st team next time Papac is injured/suspended.

4. Andrew Little - Never heard of this boy but he looked good. A nice left foot and good in the air despite his lack of height.

5. Christian Dailly - Committed in the challenge and composed on the ball. Kept talking to the younger players throughout. He is obviously not willing to let his Rangers career fizzle out without a fight.

6. Maurice Edu - Struggled with the pace of the game but did well to break up a few attacks. Doesn't look ready to become a 1st team regular though.

7. Chris Burke - Was a real threat in the first half and made some good runs. Still knows how to beat a man better than most but final ball let him down. Went off at half time after a heavy tackle.

8. Rory Loy - Played alongside edu in centre midfield and looked the part for long spells. Quick over 5 yards and always looking forward for a pass.

9. Andrius Velicka - Did little to suggest he is ready to start games for our 1st team although he did take his late goal well. Looked off the pace for most of the game.

10. Nacho Novo - Scored 2, could easily have had a hat-trick and was man of the match. Two very good finishes both in the first half. He ran himself into the ground and never left the killie defenders rest.

11. Aaron Niguez - A few darting runs but most of them came to nothing. Seems to struggle with the language barrier as he couldn't understand simple instructions from the bench. Looked better when moved to the right in the second half.

12. Georgios Efrem - On for Burke at half time and looked lively down the left. Clever touches and some good deliveries into the box. On tonights evidence i would have him in the 1st team ahead of Aaron.

Kinniburgh and Fleck both on late and little time to make an impact.

That's his trouble, he has a poor final delivery and it only takes on hard tackle to get him off the pitch.

You can't make the grade with those two failings.
