I am fairly certain Soutter was recruited to replace Goldson as they suspected he wouldnt renew his contract. Souttar now becomes the back-up rather than first choice - somewhat fortuitously given his lack of availability thus far -

No matter who we eventually have to replace Tav with.... we will NOT get anything like his stats in ANY replacement. That is just one reason why, for me, Tav's status as a Rangers legend is absolutely assured ! -
Understandable in Davis' case as he hasnt been getting minutes. He is STILL a Rolls Royce of a player - would be one of the first names on my teamsheets, particularly in European games.

The handball rule is a load of bollocks IMHO. This whole "below the sleeve" is pish - who is checking that sleeve lengths are consistently the same ? It is nonsense. Anything below the shoulder should be handball, makes things far more simplistic. I was screaming for a penalty last night and our group were pretty much unanimous that the ref had a good game... except I would chip in with "it was still a penalty" - VAR shouldnt have even asked him to look at it, it should have made the decision for him, it is that simple. But the ref, I felt, had a decent game - better than ANY of the dross we have to put up with in Scotland ! -

I would agree with that. I also think that he is an intelligent player and will learn from the experience - or at least I hope so. -

The second was a corner to the front post It wasnt De Jong that scored it, it was Obispo, a centre half -

What on earth do you want them to do ? We have the following central defenders : Goldson Davies Souttar Helander King Goldson played, Souttar, Helander and Davies were injured, and King too raw We have 5 defenders for two positions. What do you want the management to do ? Go out and buy ANOTHER defender and have 6 players for 2 positions ? IN case you havent been paying attention, we don't have an endless supply of finance to go out and do that just for the sake of it. Davies and Souttar are short-term injuries too..... -

So still questioning Davies despite already accepting that he was injured and unavailable ? -

I wouldnt blame any player - for me the blame lays on the system. A zonal system always favours attacking players making breaks on the ball. Goldson got caught underneath but the attacking player had a run and jump on it. Personally I dislike zonal for that reason. -

Yeah, he was expecting more time than he was ever going to get at this level. Was off the pace for sure -

I actually thought the ref had a good game -
Exactly right. We often think "the ball went backwards so he isnt offside" but what makes the player onside is a) the backwards pass AND b) the fact he is behind the player The one on Saturday was offside because even though the ball was played backwards, Colak came from an offside position to collect it, makes him offside. The block doesnt change that I don't think. As soon as Matondo gets a touch on it, Colak is offside.

The thing that makes it more difficult to select Lundstram as MOTM is that he just makes everything look so easy. Still gets my nod as he strolled it.

We can dislike it as much as we like, and it may indeed leave a bad taste in the mouth - but 46,000 at 50 quid a pop is 2.3 million per year pumped into the club. Again, like it or not, it is much-needed revenue to the club in a time when we all want the club to be self-sustaining. As Bill says, nobody is forced to join - it is an opportunity cost for anyone joining - how much is it worth to be on that waiting list, for example ? IN years gone by we would still have had a waiting list but the club got nothing for it. Now the club gets revenue for it - and those joining MyGers so they can be on the waiting list is clearly a price they feel willing to pay.

They got pumped 3-0 to the team that are 8th in the Belgian league at the weekend. I think it is a mixture of them not being that bad but we also made them look good. I would like to think their antics post-game have put fire in our players bellies. I am strangely confident we will pump them tonight.

I felt one of the reasons Lawrence had a much improved game from the Livvy game was because he was noticeably very often dropping deeper to collect the ball and drive at defenders. I think he is much more effective doing that than simply holding his position and waiting for the ball.
