Of course they could have said otherwise - I think what you are missing is that when Gow came on that day he completely changed the game (IIRC) and that was what was applauded by his fellow players. If someone has played well he will be spoken about after the game - if he played poorly then no-one would have mentioned him. Strangely enough he was the one player most people were talking about post-game (including Rangers officials). His days at the club are numbered in your mind.... and indeed they may be numbered but you can bet that it is more to do with the fact he wants first -team games than that WS wants rid of him. I sure as shit am glad you aren't running the show at Ibrox - it would be a gong-show at best.

Please don't tar us all with your brush Tully. There were PLENTY of us who supported Hutton and wanted him to be given a chance, myself included. Some of us have more patience than others. But you prove the point yourself that sometimes it makes sense to be patient with players - Gow and Broadfoot should be given patience. I am dumbfounded how you can deem any of them to be "surplus to requirements" when they have yet to be given a run in the team.
-
He performed better than the rest of the Gers players according to said players themselves - does that then also mean that the rest of the team that day are pish or surplus to requirements ? Me thinks you need to take a reality check, and perhaps get a grip yourself.
-
Yeah but...but...but.... Gow is surplus to requirements and... well.... Broadfoot is just pure pish.... (not at you br1ndy). It is folks like Tully who would be prone to giving Hutton a hard time whilst not playing well and then professing their ever-lasting allegiance to such player when they turn good. Neither Broadfoot NOR Gow (and you could put Naismith in the same position) have been given a proper chance to prove themselves - yet we have the armchair managers looking to punt them. sounds like a good option - lets get rid of them all in January, leave ourselves with a thread-bare squad again during the run-in of a possibly championship chasing season - makes a lot of sense.
-
So are you saying it was also exaggerated by the backroom staff who also said that he played very well indeed. Seems you have a very high opinion of your own ability to judge players - perhaps you should send your CV to Wattie....
-
Except Gow played very well against LA Galaxy and has not been given a chance since......
-
Maybe McLeish will be on the list of candidates for the England job :fish:

Is circumstantional a word ? You been taking lessons off L_a_T ? I agree with you though, Hutton most definitely deserves an improved contract - he is a full international and is a key player for us (one of the top 2 or 3 in the team) so fully deserves to be recognised for that.
-
I don't make mistakes and it is usually Gribz that sounds like an arse (no... seriously.... Sebo DOES deserve a chance.... :fish:) Just kidding Gribzy boy (you seen Stephen recently ?)
-
You saying you havent been editing already ?
-
Earl Grey or English Breakfast ? :fish:
-
Or Rangers may not renew it and tell him he will just have to stay at Ibrox - they dont HAVE to sell him when he is on a 5 yr contract - so I think Jon is right and you are wrong Gribz :fish:
-
I know what you are saying Jon.... but here are some differences that would make Hutton think twice.... 1. McCoist came to Gers when wages were not exorbitant, so you could play more for the jersey as the financial rewards weren't as high. 2. Guys like McCall, Gough, Hateley, Gazza, Laudrup etc - they were signed in a time when SDM was paying excessive wages to players and was prepared to compete financially with the top clubs across Europe 3. These guys were playing at a time when the EPL (and other major European leagues) were not so far ahead of Scotland financially and, more specifically, when Rangers were not financially downsizing. 4. Rangers ARE now downsizing financially (although stabilised) and have introduced wage structures - even lower EPL cloubs can offer much more clout than Rangers can (actually, I bet even some Championship clubs can offer higher wages than we can !!). In all fairness to Hutton, if he was offered 25k a week at Rangers (which would make him one of the top earners) but was offered 45 or 50k a week at an EPL team (not unreasonable, as I think it is rumoured Maloney is on 40k a week) then that is a HUGE amount of money to turn down (about 1 million additional wages per YEAR - on a 5 year contract.... 5 million quid before tax.....) - sorry but most of us would move for that, especially if to a Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea (Man U are rumoured to be interested and they dont come much bigger than that) - and how often do you get the chance to make it at such a top club ? I wouldn't hold a grudge if Hutton left - but would be absolutely delighted if he did decide to stay !
-
I would stand corrected Jon, but am pretty sure Webster was voted MOTM for the Gretna game - only reason I remember so well is that it was the first time I had been at Ibrox for a couple of years. Actually Webster looked very accomplished that day... although that has to be tempered with the fact it was only Gretna we were playing.

Read Loyal and True's response above Gav's.

Good news... but for how long ? From Sporting Life.....
-
Or in Gribz case..... drunk before kick-off ! :fish:

Probably your kitchen table :fish:
-
Not so, France finished 2 points ahead of us - we would still have needed to have beat Italy. If our game finished 1-1 then we would have 25 points compared to France's 26.

But NO-ONE believes a word you say :fish:

I would have thought that if WS was saying a month then he will have spoken to both the doctors AND the player himself. So unless your source is Stevie Smith himself then I will be inclined to go with what WS says.

Weir would be fine if they played a narrow back 3 - but that would also place reliance on Hutton and LM/DMB/KT to ensure they track back and cover the full-back positions. You just KNOW that there is no way WS will go with that type of formation though. Hemdani rarely sees SPL action so you could even go 4-4-2 and have Ferguson playing the holding role whilst Buffel plays the attacking central mid role - but I have no doubts WS will start with Barry and KT.

What I was getting at more than anything is that Eck's stock has risen to the extent that he should be able to get offers from more ambitious teams than Birmingham. Pompey would be one. Is Allardyce on the way out of Newcastle then ? No offence to Eck but you are right Gav, he won't get a top 4 club - but there is no reason why he couldn't get a mid-table club - the managerial merry-go-round happens frequently so there is no saying which job might open up in the next 10 months before WC qualifying begins.
-
Obviously just messing with you man ! I agree, Eck's stock has improved tremendously over this campaign and I am absolutely certain his stock has improved far beyond Birmingham. Would like to see him stay with the national team though.
