  1. Not going to argue there but I doubt Biden could get past page 2.
  2. Now you've made me angry. I love Ulysses. I think it's a masterpiece. Pistols at dawn? Choose your weapon.
  3. I know. If Scottish football ends up being a trial game every week for English clubs then the sooner we join a new European league the better. I hate the idea of us having loanees; I want a team I can reel the names off by heart. Remember Warburton? I can only remember Shiels and Black, not one of his teams.
  4. Ex-Ranger Ross McCabe has apparently got Airdrie playing well I think. I was thinking more about the tradition of these clubs as opposed to parvenus like Livi.
  5. They're really a 'pretendy' club; I'd rather see a traditional club like Raith or Airdrie in the top flight.
  6. Great to see the Keltic drop points. Now if we win our game in hand we could lead on goal difference!
  7. Who could not have provided the leadership without the action of the soviets or worker councils. Nowt posh about Lenin 0 he lived quite frugally by all accounts.
  8. Yes but events dictate; even Lenin was taken by surprise in October 1917. It's Newton's 3 law of motion - every action has an equal and opposite reaction. I'd argue our own Civil War was necessary, though it was only democratic for Cromwell's lot.
  9. The Romanovs were hated. Sometimes revolution is inevitable.
  10. Citizens outside the aristocracy had NO rights under the Tsars (women were used to pull barges for example. Under Stalin they had SOME rights and that is a huge difference. The revolution in 1917 was betrayed after Lenin's death by Stalin and quashed by 21 Western powers.
  11. Quick question: if Russia hadn't become the Soviet Union in 1917 would the Russian people have been better off under Tsarism?
  12. You could probably add 'Italexit' to that list too. One question - Turkey is not a member so why are we swamped with Turkish barbers and restaurants?
  13. Medicine for both myself and my wife has proved harder to get, and will get harder as the EU forms a cartel where they will stockpile.
  14. The comments from the professionals on here are most interesting. And reassuring.
  15. Since I started this topic, I find the responses from those were professional soldiers interesting - and reassuring.
  16. You would like to think so but it's eerily reminiscent of the attitude just prior to WW1.
  17. These are no Colonel Blimps; they expect an all-out war v Russia and China.
  18. While we are all fretting about who we are going to sign before the window closes, Britain's military top brass are already preparing for WW3. Sir Patrick Sanders wants to increase regular army numbers within 3 years to 120,000 and create a 'citizen army' of up to 500,000. Grant Shapps wants military spending to increase to 3% of GDP. So stand by for conscription - Generation X have not shown enough inclination to join the forces, preferring instead to play Call of Duty on their X-boxes. I wait for a new Kitchener to tell us that our country needs us.
  19. Lammers was certainly deep-lying and capable of not only being a false 9 but a false 7,8,3,2,1 etc.
  20. I think we've baulked at the fee. Sure he would be a success but no resale value given his age. Now that Dessers has started to score and Danilo to come back we maybe have enough scoring power on the flanks with Sima to return also.
