  1. Rangers 3 Peterhead 0 FGS Dodoo
  2. I'm with Bearman here, every time I see an update in here I click hoping to see a centre half being bought, only to be disappointed. (Apologies for anyone who has just done the same and had to read this instead!)
  3. I hope Boydie is wrong about it being decided by Waghorn v Griffiths, or we are going to be disappointed!
  4. Come on dB, Butcher & Gough were world class centre halfs, while our current trio are most certainly not ever going to be called anything other than honest pros. Put B&G into this team and it looks completely different. No more shitting ourselves at set pieces, no more fumbling around when the opponent has the ball, no more disorganised starting positions. The simple fact of the matter is that it is not our system that makes us look bad at defending, it is bad defenders playing bad defence.
  5. Highlight of the day was the video highlights of our game on this day in 1989 v Spurs when we thrashed them 1-0! What a team we had then. Woods, Stevens, Butcher, Gough, Munro, Steven, Ferguson, Wilkins, Walters, McCoist, Mojo. I'd take any one of them in an instant over today's side. Butcher & Gough v Kiernan & Hill makes me want to cry! This wee link is worth a read from official site - scroll down to find the game in question. Spurs had some great players at that time also including Mabbutt, Gazza & Lineker. http://rangers.co.uk/news/features/feature-previous-spurs-friendlies/
  6. Wes -5. only 2 shots at goal all day and you concede one its not good. Too slow to pick a pass. Tav-7 defended better than usual, bombed forward all day, very little help. Hill-5 was hoping his experience would help organise us, looks lost. Kiernan-5 should have been moved on in summer. Wallace-7 got forward all day, defended well. Barton-7 was he supposed to be playing sweeper? I don't think he was brought here to take the ball off Wes inside his own box, he can't hurt anyone from there. Fought hard, has a good range of passing, tried to gee others up. Nico-4 marked tightly and had no space to work in, the odd time he got free he was fouled. Welcome to Scotland. Looks miles off pace. Halliday-6 worked hard, had a good attempt at goal but created nothing in free midfield role. We have better options. McKay-6 had the full back beaten in first 15 mins, then the full back adjusted to being much tighter and more physical and Barrie found it hard to get past him. Waghorn-7 biggest danger to Hamilton today and should have been played centrally. Good finish (dodgy keeper?) and always direct -we are going to miss him again. Miller-2 abysmal. How he came out for second half is a mystery. Forrester-6 looked good, should have been on earlier. Ohalloran-5 done well but too predictable playing on right without any ability in his right foot, always having to cut back onto left or sclaff with right. Rossiter-5 was busy scurrying around midfield mopping up. Warburton-4 wrong selection with a midfield 3 that has no urgency or creativity in it, and the utterly useless Miller at CF which is just wrong on so many levels. His failure to sort out the centre halfs despite it being glaringly obvious for a year is worrying. His double sub was 15 mins too late, and at 1-1 with 15 to go he brings on a holding midfielder with Dodoo on the bench was stupidity of the highest order. These are all the same mistakes he made all last season and it seems he hasn't learned anything.
  7. Taking that on one step Boabie, after being sued by Rangers, RR goes into administration/liquidation, meaning Rangers have no contract with RR to supply any merch at all and Rangers are therefore free to arrange a new deal with another supplier (probably not SD!)
  8. I am very confident we will be!
  9. Superb!! Now bring in a good centre half or two and a striker and we are there!
  10. Will anyone notice if we dont have any defenders on the park? It looked like this tactic was being employed on many occasions last season!
  11. Yes it was a very long wait after the match. A large number of the noisiest Red Star fans, having just seen their team eliminated, refused to leave the ground.
  12. Thanks D'art. A very strange set-up indeed. I can see absolutely no need for this Company at all. Club 1872 board will be responsible for all releases, so not sure why we need to offload it to a seperate Company to release communications, which is 100% owned by C1872 anyway. They are all done by the C1872 board, and released on the C1872 website, so why the need for this layer of additional costs? I'm sure someone at Rangers thought it was a good idea at the time. Also a little strange that there is absolutely no mention of any of this on the Club 1872 website, but it is on the official club website. Not exactly great for the claim of independence!
  13. Perhaps this was the first time I noticed it!
  14. They are making plenty of money through their agreements with SD. It is not too far out there that SD can convince them to take a bath on this one contract which SD will make up to them in others. Ashley has plenty previous of throwing bad money at a problem to try to make him look strong elsewhere. Take a hypothetical example. Puma are losing £2M from the Rangers gig. SD then buys £10M of extra Puma gear at a slightly higher price than usual to compensate them. Why would Puma care then? SD can punt the extra Puma stuff throughout their grubby stores over time, and Ashleys gets to protect his position with us.
  15. As long as nobody is wearing kit from this or last season that will do for me.
  16. I recall getting laughed out of town when I suggested (from information I received close to the retailer) Ashley had a grip on Puma and that Puma would side with Ashley in any argument with us. SD shifts a huge amount of Puma gear, far in excess of what we would sell, and there are very good relations between the pair of them. It was no coincidence that Puma became our supplier while we were under Ashleys control. We will have to get a legal solution to this on our own, we wont be getting any help from our "partners".
  17. I did say in Glasgow!
  18. I recall that day well BH, sitting in the park for hours, thankfully it was a pleasant day. As you say the atmosphere generated by the home side was one of the best I have encountered. On Lyon, I also took a photo of the scoreboard at 3-0, but phone technology in 2007 wasn't what it is today and it was pretty grainy - at least I knew what it said! We had been sitting in Lyon town centre in a wee cafe in a square chatting to locals as they passed by, when my mate responds to a Lyon fans request as to a score prediction that we would win easy 3-0. We took the beer off him! Needless to say he has never let us forget it since.
  19. Can anyone find out if this is the first sell-out in the top tier for a league game in Glasgow since 2012? I think it is!
  20. A search of Companies House tells me that FS, but there is absolutely nothing to on the Club1872 website about this Company or to say why we need an additional layer of Structure in Club1872? Did James Blair do this on his own (he is sole Director). "One fans group -many layers" is not a slogan I was familiar with! The more I hear about Club1872 the more my spidey senses are tingling. I have been supportive of pretty much all Rangers fans groups over the years on the basis that if a bunch of fans give up a lot of their own time to try to do something for the betterment of either the fans or the club then they deserve some support, certainly initially. I am still paying £11.25pm into RST and £18.72pm into RF but I am, for the first time since RST started in 2003, starting to wonder if i should continue. I get the feeling something is not right about Club1872, I just don't know what it is, and I desperately want to be wrong.
  21. Not wanting to take away from the message of the statement which is spot on, but who or what is Supporters Voice Ltd and why is it issuing statements in its own name when everything up till now has just been Club1872?
  22. It say a lot when any old un-named defender is polling higher than Wilson/Kiernan/Hill. This is fast becoming our manager's achilees heel if we get to 1 September without additions to centre back. If he is happy to play this season with Wilson/Kiernan after watching them getting rag-dolled by second tier teams all year, then he is not the manager many believe him to be. I am willing to give him the time he has asked for in this market to enable him to get the right targets, but quite clearly the fact he has struggled to improve in this area other than Hill (who was surely for cover) means that both he and his recruitment team have failed (to date) in the area needing the most work.
  23. For me our strongest is Barton Nico and Holt playing in front of them. The runs he makes in behind defenders can be picked out this season with they two quality passers behind him. I dont understand anyone pressing the negative button on any of our midfielders however. They are all decent players and while we may want some over others, I dont believe any of them are that bad that you would want to press the negative button, as in you definitely dont want them to play. Or am I misunderstanding the concept here?
  24. I wish these pundits who are so certain we will be nowhere near winning the title had their jobs on the line if we win it. Surely their bosses would be looking at them saying WTF do you really know about football that we are paying you to write about it when you got this so badly wrong? I know if one of my employees told me that in their experience we could reasonably predict XYZ is going to happen, and it turns out to be ABC I would be asking huge questions of their suitability for the role. Are they seriously wanting us to believe that our squad, which is clearly second best in terms of players and cost in this division, with resources to strengthen further, no Europe to take our eye off things, a manager many proper pundits are impressed with, will somehow be behind a two bob outfits like Aberdeen or Hearts, who were over 15 points back from the worst celtic team ever last season and have not strengthened at all? It can only be bigotry that is making them think like this. They are lucky I am not their editor or boss.
