Someone remind me what resolution 12 is please?

McLean has had countless really bad games in charge of us, with some decisions so obviously wrong it appears to be cheating. I dont recall any really bad decisions going in our favour from him. Hopefully he is totally anonymous on Saturday, then he will have had a great game. His track record doesnt suggest that.

For me I would be much happier without any Rangers or Celtic connections in place at the SPFL board - as long as there were good people and that the CEO was not a plant on behalf of CFC like Doncaster is. Replace Doncaster with a proper impartial and qualified CEO, and allow Budge, the businessman who has done a great job with Ross County (McGregor is it?), and another successful businessman who is on a Premier league club board be the 3 man whip. I would be absolutely over the moon if those running the SPFL were suitably qualified to make the hard decisions, attract money into the game through new ideas and improved sponsorships, and be totally impartial where it comes to OF matters. That would do for me.

The Summer Transfer Rumour Round-up Thread
Tannochsidebear replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
I read recently something saying that Windass & Crooks were not first team players for 16-17, but an investment for 17-18, which leads me to think they might even be loaned out to reach the level required. Might be nonsense but I can understand the sentiment as I believe that is far too big a leap from Accrington in the 4th tier to the pressure of playing for Rangers in the top flight. -
I thought he was being gentle to them as well! Is all banter now lost?

PRESS CONFERENCE: James Tavernier 16 May 2016
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Why are we having a presser today? We havent had a game for a fortnight (4 weeks if you exclude the rubber league games), and our final game is not until Saturday? My views on pressers are well documented already, but at the very least restrict the access to pre-match. -
Official: Joey Barton signs 2 year deal with Rangers
Tannochsidebear replied to cooponthewing's topic in Rangers Chat
Didnt remember the cigar stuff but it rings a bell now that it has been brought up here. It really does sound more like a timmy signing than us, but that is not to say we havent had our share of reprobates in the past (Gazza, Duncan F, Ricksen to name but 3!) -
So Timmy & dolly have a devine right to a place on the board, but Rangers getting on would be self-serving evil? Ok Waddell, jog on. Do people still actually pay money to buy this rag? Do we as a club still allow this rag representation at media gatherings? Stupefying if the answer is yes to either.

If he is a fraction of the player Ferguson was from 98-03 then Rossiter will be a superstar in our league. I must admit I don't have that high hopes for him given his record to date, but it took DA coming in to spot BF was ready, and we can hope the change of club can spur this kid onwards and upwards.

Reading a lot about him having a chequered past but must admit I haven't a clue what he has been guilty of away from football. On the pitch he has had several red cards and has a rep of being a bad influence. Is it fair to say that since he went to France (remember the awful accented interview lol!!) and then back with Burnley there has not been much negative stuff? -
1 week to go...Cup Final roll call...
Tannochsidebear replied to cooponthewing's topic in Rangers Chat
i'm guessing I will be back in the North stand for the third time this year. As predicted, Hibs have hibsed it again and we will win this easily next week. I have been saying since the semi final draw was made that it looked like a beautiful piece of symmetry for us to play and beat Hibs 6-2 in both the first and last games of an excellant debut season for Warburton, so I will need to stick to that prediction now. Must be worth a £1 at the bookies too! -
What a side we had then, when we were in full flow it is easily the best Rangers side I have seen in my 30+ years of going to games. Look at the pace we played at, how hungry we were to win it back in midfield and how fast we broke upfield on the counter. Everyone was keen to shoot from distance as well, not pass the bloody thing to death! Fantastic football.

Two things about this for me - Firstly no way are we paying him £10Kpw or he is worth £8M having played 5 first team games at 19yo. How we laugh when the media announce a celtic signing (undisclosed) as worth this or on that, this is the same. We either trust the people at the club to get the wage and transfer budget right or we dont. I do for now so I dont care what the press report the signing as costing or the wages, it probably wont be accurate! The second is how does a 19 year old miss half a season with a hamstring injury? That worries me a lot more than what the press are reporting he is being paid.

Official: Joey Barton signs 2 year deal with Rangers
Tannochsidebear replied to cooponthewing's topic in Rangers Chat
Apparantly has had a great season with Burnley. I heard an interview with him on Talksport a few days ago and he was talking very maturely about the mistakes he made when he was younger and how he just loves playing and has calmed right down. No mention of Rangers in it even though the rumours were rife online by then. Certainly a step up in quality from the players we have in midfield, not sure if his temperament can be relied upon, or if he would be a good fit into our shape. That is for Warburton to work out. Would certainly be happier with this signing than some of these teenage gambles as he is a quality player with great experience. He would certainly be a gamble but certainly less so than Crooks, Windass, or Rossiter. -
Who does he replace in our "usual" starting 11 from this season?

Lee Wallace and Barrie McKay named in Scotland squads
Tannochsidebear replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
If pre-season starts on June 16, and this meaningless friendly is on June 4, what sort of rest or holiday does that give them? If we give them an extra week or two to have a proper rest after these games, then they will be behind the rest of the squad going into very important Euro qualifiers (hopefully!) Given they have both played almost every game this season, rest is more important than some training with the National side (they aint going to be playing lets face it apart from perhaps 20 minutes as a sub). Thanks but no thanks this time Strachan. -
UEFA Licence 2011 - Time to put this to bed.
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Obviously the great unwashed live breathe and sleep everything to do with their rivals (thankfully they dont put as much effort into their own club or we would never catch them!) but I am not really getting the point they are trying to make here. If the SFA wrongly issued a European licence to Rangers for 11-12 (two defeats against Malmo & Maribor were the sum total of our European exploits), then so what exactly? It doesnt affect what happened to them, it doesnt affect what happened to us, and it has absolutely no bearing on future events. What exactly is the point? -
We might be going in different ways to get to the same answer here R, I have no problem with athletic ball playing centre backs per se, it is the quality we have chosen to get us out of the 2nd tier that I don't believe is good enough, and it seems nor do you. I would rather have a morph of Weir & Bougherra but those types of CH are not easy to find within our budget. Weir for his reading, organising, strength & aerial ability, and Boogy's pace and eye for a forward pass and keen to get forward. If you get a player with the right blend of these qualities into Warburtons formation we would be onto a winner. Unfortunately we seem to have the opposite! I am confident Warburton will sort this out over the next six weeks or so.

Scorelines dont matter in these games, the same as in pre-season. What will matter is the competitive level of the match. Was it a end of season bounce game which will give us nothing, an easy match against a very inexperienced youth side which will not give us the competitive edge we need, or a game with a mixture of youth and first team played at a good pace for the first hour or so at least that is what we probably need to keep ticking over? We will probably never know as these things will be spun as a good exercise, forging friendships, etc etc. That will probably end up being the most beneficial thing about it as we look to see who we can borrow for next year.

Rangers Heading To America For Pre-Season
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Taking the squad away for some guaranteed warm weather training and a bonding exercise in pre-season is always a good idea. If this is funded by playing an exhibition game against our hosts, even better.
